Tonight football is shite 🙄

Blimey, the Leicester v Southampton match tonight - Leicester were 3-0 up at half time but lost 3-4 with a 96th minute winner!

JasonTindallsTan · 10/02/2026 22:00

Football looking up for me tonight. That was a must not lose game and we dug in when needed. Spurs were incredibly poor though. If I were a spurs fan I’d be very worried about the genuine possibility of relegation.

I completely agree with whoever commented on the entitlement of fans. The Eddie Howe out mob have been letting their gums flap plenty this week. If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a football fan, knee jerk reactions in relation to your manager rarely end well. It took us years and years to find a decent manager after sacking Sir Bobby Robson (after a certain subsec of ‘fans’ turned on him for finishing 5th in the league 🙄). Eddie Howe is our most successful manager in 70 years and I truly believe he has the skill set to turn this sticky patch around. I also believe him when he says that the day he thinks he isn’t the best man for the job he will put the club before his own interests and step aside.

No skin in any of the games but my FPL has gone badly. ☹️

Kirbert2 · 10/02/2026 23:06

Just the EFL trophy but Huddersfield were awful in the penalty shootout and Doncaster's keeper was fantastic. Definitely some penalty practice needed just in case we need them for a potential League 1 play off shootout!

TheNewGaard · 11/02/2026 00:04

So Sp*rs next game is against Arsenal in 11 days time.

Arsenal have THREE games in that time...

LlynTegid · 11/02/2026 07:13

Excellent draw for West Ham, so the uncut hair goes on. Would have been more enjoyable if they had been the team equalising in added time.

Yeah not really sure tonight’s game counts as it is the same gameweek

it is the downside of the cups - you have to play your match somewhere- the upside is that with it being Man City they have to play as well

surely Frank can’t last

@LlynTegid the haircut really irritates me winning 5 in a row is no easy feat and even Premier League champions drop draws in. Yes it happens but not regularly enough to bet on it
unless you want money and fame

Fandango52 · 11/02/2026 08:40

Anyone having issues with FPL logging them out? Had this a couple of times in the last week or so. Annoying!! I’m

TheSleepingGiant · 11/02/2026 09:23

@JasonTindallsTan I am very worried. West Ham/Forest/Leeds have been here before, they will battle with all they have to stay in the league. Tottenham aren't showing that same fight, well any fight if I'm honest. I'd go as far as to say they are coming across as entitled and with a "we are too good to go down" attitude. Maybe the wake up call will come 21st/22nd Feb when we will likely be sitting in 18th Sad

That happened to me as well.

I thought the game was updated or something.

I remember that feeling very well, it's horrible.

The fans need to rally behind their team.

Kirbert2 · 11/02/2026 09:38

I remember the feeling well too.

Not long ago we were one game away from the Premier League with Carlos Corberan at the helm and so much positivity and hope. Now we are in our 2nd season of League 1 with what feels like our 1000th manager since losing that play off final against Forest.

It can all change so quickly.

JasonTindallsTan · 11/02/2026 09:44

I empathise @TheSleepingGiant, Newcastle have been there many times before. I would agree that the players don’t seem to have any fight in them. What I noticed last night was the amount of time and space we were getting on the ball (and I have to say this wasn’t a vintage Newcastle performance either so I don’t think you’d have needed to be on top form to get some kind of result). I think Frank’s days are numbered but that’s more because the players seem to have downed tools. But that brings me back to the futility of the manager merry go round. No manager can work miracles. You might get a bounce whilst everything is shiny and new but a good manager is a good manager and I believe Frank probably is a good manager - he did more with less at Brentford and sometimes what they need is time. I doubt that he’ll get it at Spurs though. Genuine commiserations. It’s shit when your team is shit.

burblish · 11/02/2026 10:18

Spurs have sacked Thomas Frank. I'm sorry it didn't work out, as I like both Frank and Spurs.

Tiswa · 11/02/2026 10:21

You wonder how much De Zerbi leaving Marseille sped it up as well - get in there before anyone else can

I mean the spurs job is bound to ruin him too but he seems arrogant enough to think it won’t!

burblish · 11/02/2026 10:27

@Tiswa I'm also wondering whether Spurs will look to De Zerbi now. He does have that attacking style of play that they like and he has Premier League experience. It would be like Conte's ego and irascibility but without the defensive tactics.

JasonTindallsTan · 11/02/2026 10:31

Mind I think that’s the second manager Newcastle have seen off at Spurs. Although one was only an interim I think.

Knew I had something else to rant about, that offside last night was scandalous. Absolutely no advantage whatsoever.

Joe Willock said it best himself. How ridiculous.

if they start doing the usual Boro things he is going to be devastated. I'm getting in his favourite snacks (and hiding them) just in case.

This drives me absolutely mad!

the offside rule was rightly designed so that football flowed and attackers didn’t camp out in the penalty box and gain too much of an advantage

here of course it should be a goal we need to get the rule change

Tarkan · 11/02/2026 10:38

At least someone has a happy DH LOL. Not only did Hibs lose in the Edinburgh derby yesterday but DH was driving on Edinburgh runs (he’s an Ember bus driver) and he ended up finishing work 40 minutes late because Edinburgh was chaos.

As for me, well I’m glad West Ham got a point but annoyed we were ahead and ended up with a draw at the last minute.

I agree. It should be daylight between the players. Or it should just be done on their feet. Or some other metric that means you don’t get a goal disallowed because you didn’t get a fresh trim the day of the game.
