I’m pretty good at FPL, it takes over my life at times 😂

Any tips welcome! I’ve been doing terribly at it recently - despite really trying 😭😭

JasonTindallsTan · 03/01/2026 00:34

so much of it is luck and getting the right captain pick. My one rule for me is not to have any of Newcastle’s opposition in my team (will bench them if they’re in my squad) but that doesn’t particularly help you. Have a play about with your team, the chips have just renewed so you can play your wildcard again. I watch a lot of football so have a rough idea of who is performing well in a lot of teams as well as being aware of upcoming fixtures. But in all honesty. It’s luck.

Wolves finally got a win

Scottish football is fascinating et the moment - surely Nancy won’t last much longer with this form at Celtic and I would love Hearts to win (just to have someone different) same as Villa and Lens

Cuwins · 03/01/2026 18:11

Great to have a win today after an awful December- we are always awful in December. However I would have been shocked if we had lost at home to Burnley!
James Milner coming on the day before his 40th birthday is pretty impressive.
Fabulous to see Gross back in the stripes too!

Seem to remember you’re a Tottenham fan? 😉 I feel your pain! I was very much hoping Frank would take the opportunity to thrash Brentford, but no luck there sadly.

I am indeed. I was optimistic as they have a good record at Brentford, can usually get something no matter how bad their form is. That game Thursday was another level of boring though 😴

TheSleepingGiant · 03/01/2026 19:22

Gillingham's game away to Notts County tomorrow is off after a pitch inspection today. No game next weekend either due to MK still being in the FA Cup. Hopefully the break will do them good, recent form has been terrible. They may even have a new player or 2 join before the next game on 17th 🙏

MrsMitford3 · 03/01/2026 19:39

I feel like I wish everyone had a crest by their name or something so I know what you are talking about.
I mean @DuncinToffee and @JasonTindallsTan are pretty clear and I know my fellow gooners...

If there are any Cherries on here you played an absolute blinder and do not deserve to be in 15th place!!

Brefugee · 03/01/2026 19:44

For the next thread I'll nc to SadGermanOwl 😂

Happy with the Old Firm result at least but definitely not so happy with West Ham. We will deserve to go down if we keep going on like this. A loss for Arbroath away too but that was at least against the top of the table team and was only 1-0 so that doesn’t feel like as bad a loss.

One of Ds's best friends is a west ham fan.

DS said he turned off his phone 😫
I def hope west ham stay up!!

I actually went for a nap before the match finished. I didn’t want to see any more bad scores on the screen. 🙈

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2026 17:40

We were bad again today. It was always going to be a rebuild season but the expectatons have risen which makes it difficult to accept this kind of match days.

Such a difference from the previous seasons.

Now I can just feel pissed off rather than anxious.

Really pleased with the Newcastle result today. It was a must win and we got the outcome we needed. Bruno G is such a good captain, he doesn’t half drag us through sometimes.

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 04/01/2026 21:57

Football is better today. 😁

Amorim sacked

OP posts:
Hellohah · 05/01/2026 10:19

Well looks like we've sacked another manager.
Today ... I do not like football and I don't like my club much either

burblish · 05/01/2026 10:41

I think Amorim leaving was inevitable after what he said on Friday implying he wasn't getting what he wanted re transfers and then after Sunday's match saying he was supposed to be the manager, not just the coach, and that he'd be off when his contract was up. You can't mouth off in public about the board. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Tiswa · 05/01/2026 12:08

who would want to be a manager! At the moment I think only 4 are safe (Arteta/Guardiola/Le Bris/Emery) I think Rob Edwards probably is now as well given that he has managed a marked improvement! But even Eddie Howe I don’t think is certain.

and the means of Amorim and Maresca going is telling as well

I don't think Slot will be sacked this season - too much credit in the bank and it isn't Liverpool's way.

Other managers who I think are safe right now at their clubs (but some might be swooped on by "bigger" clubs) include: Keith Andrews (has confounded expectations, I would say), Glasner, Iraola, Hurzeler and Moyes. Howe still has credit in the bank from last season and can blame everything this season on Isak!

burblish · 05/01/2026 14:55

To add, I reckon Marco Silva is also safe right now.

Tiswa · 05/01/2026 15:03

I think Glasner is potentially a January window (Guehi/Wharton) away from fall out

Iraola is another interesting one they I can’t call being sack proof either

I don’t think they will go. I just wouldn’t be shocked

Slot is a mix of being open and honest but reserved with it - would make a good politician I think because makes you think he has told you the full story but keeps things in.

Wouldn’t do an Amorim or Maresca plus given the run they have had is securely in 4th now that

Tarkan · 05/01/2026 15:45

Nancy sacked by Celtic now too.

I agree, and I’d say the same about Thomas Frank at Spurs. Gareth Southgate was also excellent at this when he was England manager.
