It was indeed, but I think that we were lucky that our second goal was not disallowed.

This made me laugh:

I'm a Spurs fan for over 65 years. My wife and I have just been gifted a great grandson. As soon as he can walk I am putting his name forward as a Spurs striker.Even now he moves more than that bunch of no hopers we have.
By the way well played Arsenal and apologies for the freak goal to spoil another clean sheet.

But you don’t win things without luck! Luck hasn’t been on Arsenal side recently but this season I think it is.
Liverpool/Man City have won titles in the past because they were the side with the most luck.

it is what I think drives it the most

massive massive week though for Arsenal 2 huge games coming up to really see where they are this season

interestingly though the same is true for Chelsea having IMO (Cole Palmer broken toe aside) weathered the club World Cup storm better than I thought. Their next two games are huge as well.

MrsMitford3 · 23/11/2025 21:24

@Tiswa I am wondering who you support?

I agree- we have been unlucky in past seasons (as have many teams) but a bit of luck-the 50/50's the cards etc have def not gone our way in the past few seasons-am afraid to believe in it going our way now.

also Gary Neville praising Arsenal freaking me out

Yes, it is difficult to work out how much is luck and how much is skill.

I did notice today that so many of the long balls just fell kindly for us as well as the parts of the match where the ball was hit randomly by both teams.

But the problem with luck is that it evens itself out in the end. I remember that in one of the last 3 years we were very lucky for a period and then it all went to pot.

Talking about luck, I thought that Cole Palmer was going to be back for our game but it looks like he won't be. I think that the last time he played against us was when he was with City and he scored against us. I don't think that we ever played him since he joined Chelsea as he has always been injured.

Edited

@MrsMitford3 yeah sometimes I wonder! My Mums side QPR and my Dads Spurs but moved to Portsmouth just before I was born so grew up a little bit watching all 3 hence why Darren Anderton was my favourite player.

DH mum is Liverpool Dad hated football so is Liverpool.

We now live in a very Chelsea/Wimbledon area so DDs boyfriend supports those!

so I really don’t know anymore starting to think it is easier not supporting anyone

the Gary Neville bit though I mean he has consistently wanted Arsenal to win the last 3 seasons his hatred of city and Liverpool playing a part

MrsMitford3 · 24/11/2025 11:37

haha. Football is so funny-we are often made unwilling bedfellows buy sharing a hatred of a team😂

I suppose not caring is easier but I am unable to effect that level of nonchalance!

edited to query-is it affect or effect? is it impacting me or am I the action?? 👀

Tiswa · 24/11/2025 11:47

Affect isn’t it? I mean I should know it is my job as an editor but I have the bloody flu virus DS has given me!

You are right though hate tends to bind more in some ways that like as a common goal.

i hate to say it @MrsMitford3 but DS (Liverpool) friends are Spurs and Chelsea and disliking Arsenal does bind them!

Brefugee · 24/11/2025 12:23

Affect. Hope you feel better soon @Tiswa

I don't go in for the "i support X so therefore i hate Y and all their supporters" except on a very very superficial "it really is bantz because we are all laughing" way.

Which is why i stay away from anywhere that may mention football when Gladbach or Wednesday have a derby match (unless i am at said match)

Similar with the ABE crowd. I can't be doing with it all. Unless it really is "we are all genuinely ribbing each other gently and laughing" stuff.

Hellohah · 24/11/2025 18:27

Enemies tonight @DuncinToffee 😂

I'm hoping for a good game to warm the cockles as it's bloody cold!

May the best team win 👍🏻

outofdate · 24/11/2025 20:22

wtf happened there?

Quite that doesn’t happen from nowhere
surely - there must be a backstory.

Still not as insane as Bowyer v Dyer

JasonTindallsTan · 24/11/2025 21:17

A slap though is ever so random?!

TheNewGaard · 24/11/2025 21:36

I know they're losing, but this seems a little extreme...

@DuncinToffee there must be beef-we need the back story

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 24/11/2025 21:56

Everton were by far the better team. Not sure where they got the energy from.

DuncinToffee · 24/11/2025 21:58

Fcking hell, WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My nerves were shot but what a team performance 💙

DuncinToffee · 24/11/2025 21:59
