Just wondering what you think about your green kit?

For me Newcastle has one of the most iconic kits in football but that green did not scream newcastle to me (not trying to criticise another team kit-just wondering if the fans like it?) There are def arsenal kits in the past that fans didn't like or were considered unlucky!

I know there was a blue and claret striped one one year because my DS went to Uni up there and has one. It is gorgeous.

Tarkan · 02/11/2025 18:31

Two out of three wins this weekend. With recent form I wasn’t surprised about the Old Firm result though. I’ll just focus on Arbroath and West Ham’s results this weekend instead. 😇😁

Brefugee · 02/11/2025 18:34

given the problems with differentiating the Wednesday kit from the West Brom kit yesterday, i really fail to see why Newcastle couldn't have played in their regular kit. It really is nothing like the claret and blue they were playing against.

Most dislike it. It’s heavily associated with Saudi and I genuinely think it makes the players harder to pick out on the pitch. Not making excuses for that shambolic display today but the shirts don’t help in my view.

Brefugee · 03/11/2025 08:10

gosh, do you remember when the new (still there?) owner of Cardif City tried to change their strip to Red?

Tiswa · 03/11/2025 08:17

I hate the commercialism of having to change 3 kits each year and then have to wear them a certain amount of time. NFL is every 5 years which means the Bills kit I have will be valid for another couple of years - NBA is every few seasons for the main with a city edition each time. It is really expensive and means having to wear the kits at games when actually the traditional home would suffice

Interesting match tonight I know a couple won’t agree but I do like the idea of 1/4 way though the season if Arsenal were 5 points clear to Sunderland!

Brefugee · 03/11/2025 08:24

i hate all this multiple kits, new one each year etc. I stopped buying them a while ago. (am gutted that my mum bought me a Wednesday shirt when Chansiri first took over, before he changed the logo, so while i love the stripes and the owl, i hate having his name on it, so i can't wear it any more)

Yes. Unbelievable.

We are playing them on Saturday and my son in law is a Sunderland supporter, so it will be interesting.

Tiswa · 03/11/2025 12:02

Fascinating fixtures this weekend with Sunderland being a massive moment for Arsenal particularly given the next two London Derbies and if they win that it would mean the only way to lose the title would be a collapse of Newcastle proportions (although Arsenal themselves did something similar in 2023)

but it is so interesting isn’t it that what would have been since as an easy 3 points is anything but!

But I think that now with the standard of the PL (especially this year) that no match can be considered an easy 3 points.

And last year Arsenal dropped lots of points against teams that were in the middle of the table.

I think every Arsenal supporter is wondering if our next match will be the start of a collapse. To quote the Lightening Speeds, we've seen it all before.

Also think I read that last year Newcastle lost to Brentford in a similar way to how they lost to West Ham yesterday and then they went on a five match winning run. So past form means absolutely nothing.

Tiswa · 03/11/2025 13:05

yes and I think the promoted teams stand a fantastic chance of staying up which is different and we might finally get a relegation battle
Man City are the difference as always Liverpool won last year because Man Coty collapse was pretty big! For me Arsenal have to be willing Liverpool or a draw at the weekend otherwise it is a potential Erling Haaland balon dor as Norway could also go far

JasonTindallsTan · 03/11/2025 13:14

We got beat 4-2 by Brentford in a lack lustre display and then pulled our fingers out and went on a 9 win run equalling our club best.

I’m hopeful that the returns of hall and livramento along with the addition of Wissa might mean a similar response this time round…

Tiswa · 03/11/2025 13:15

Which has just been backed up by the bbc who said that in the last 4 seasons 4 different teams have led at this point with 25 points and 3 (Arsenal/Tottenham/Chelsea) haven’t won it and Man City have - they are the biggest threat IMO

Yes, Harland's goals yesterday were unbelievable.

They are saying that Cherkie s the new De Bruyne.

TheNewGaard · 03/11/2025 18:00

OK, so to make sure that Palace don't have to play on Sunday followed by the Tuesday, they've rescheduled the Carabao Cup match to the 23rd of December.

Which means that Arsenal will now have to play on the Sunday followed by the Tuesday.

You couldn't make it up...

Brefugee · 03/11/2025 19:04

that's why the German fixture list is only fixed a few weeks in advance, and not by the TV stations.

If you play on Sunday you don't play on Tuesday. If you play on Thursday you don't play on Saturday. (So it is all related either to UEFA or domestic cup matches - our cup matches are always on a Tuesday and Wednesday)

TheNewGaard · 03/11/2025 19:21

They could move our Sunday game to Saturday, or even Friday night, but that would depend on the TV channels, as that's obviously the reason it's on the Sunday.

It’s the conference league match on the 18th that screws it up so they can’t play Sunday Tuesday Thursday Sunday - which to be fair they can’t!

and then Christmas Eve screws up the Wednesday so both are playing Sunday to Tuesday

I guess Arsenal could request Everton move because whereas I get you can’t play the fixtures they were getting Palace to do another Days rest for a side is common!

DuncinToffee · 03/11/2025 22:15

Well that was a match of 2 halves, terrible second half and first 2 subs from Moyes but we could have won it at the end.

Yes it really was.

Xhaka was amazing (as usual). I hope he forgets how to play on Saturday.

Oblomov25 · 04/11/2025 20:52

At Spurs. HT, painful watching.

MrsMitford3 · 04/11/2025 21:15

Watching Arsenal trying to keep clean sheets and the nerves in the dying moments remind me of how nervy it was in the Invincible season.

(obviously this is not an invincible season) but the defence are as keen to keep shots out as the offence are to score-Big Gabi brilliant again!

Our injuries are racking up though... international break can't come soon enough!
