not having any regard for the away fans really really gets my goat. In Germany the DFB (the German FA) and say that they won't make travelling fans go more than 350km (217 miles) and assume that they will travel by car or coach. I don't think they take any account of public transport. (Grrr)
When Gladbach built their new stadium, it was promised (by the government and the railways) that a new stop would be added to the railway to enable travel to/from the ground by train. Hahahaha. Never happened. So the club have to lay on loads and loads of buses. Which get overfull and the queues are horrendous. But that works for Saturday (or Sunday) midday matches, or the one at 6:30pm. But for our cup match the other day, kick off was at 8:45pm, and the opponent was from Karlsruhe - 3.5 hours by car on a good day). The club sent out a message saying: if it goes to extra time (we have extra time & penalties if it ends in a draw) there is no more public transport. That was it. (and anyway, the trains to Düsseldorf are all cancelled and there is replacement bus)
Goodness knows what happened on our friday night match against Freiburg. 5 Hour drive and nearly no public transport.
