I watched the first half and then switched to the stressful matters in the EFL but from what I saw Arsenal just weren't at it today. The players Lyon had missing in the first leg were back and made a huge difference.
Arsenal need to consolidate their top 3 space for next year's competition now (or does Man Utd's result mean that's already done?)

Yes, as long as we win one of our remaining 4 games then we will get top 3.

But we really need to come second which is also in our hands.

Sorry to be thick but what's the difference between 2nd and 3rd?

With 3rd, you have to go through qualification rounds to be able to play in the CL.

Last time we had to do that, there were a lot of extra games to play and I am not sure we actually made it. They might have changed the format now for qualification though, I'm not sure.

Ah, thank you. I didn't realise.

Ah well, 2nd it must be. Arsenal not in it at all in the first half today.

Congratulations to Man City.

bincrate · 06/05/2026 21:50

Yeeeaaahhhhhhhha. That’s a relief as a city fan!

DuncinToffee · 06/05/2026 22:11

Congratulations Man City!!!! 🏆

Yes well done Man City.

bincrate · 06/05/2026 22:58

It may be the pessimistic Yorkshire in me (don’t come for me ancestors) but in really thought we would find a way to fluff this title race. I’ve broken out the good tea in celebration.

Snowypeaks · 07/05/2026 11:31

Congratulations to Man City Women, especially Viv Miedema, who deserves this more than anyone.

In an eerie of the KCC situation at Arsenal, Miedema's mother was taken into intensive care due to a bad reaction to cancer drugs, but is now recovering. As opposed to Kyra's poor mum, who is dying.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 09/05/2026 12:06

What a good signing Holmberg is for Arsenal.

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 11/05/2026 14:24

I think Arsenal will regret letting Mead leave 😕

I'm still not over Viv leaving 😭

DuncinToffee · 12/05/2026 12:21

Will she go to Man City?

It wouldn't surprise me.

Still raging that we should have chucked bloody Jonas and kept Viv.

Viv and Beth are absolutely lovely in the Arsenal documentary-I would assume they'd like to live in the same city...

DuncinToffee · 13/05/2026 21:13

Terrible refereeing for that goal Angry

Yes, you were robbed.

I assume the referee and linewoman are Arsenal supporters.

Snowypeaks · 15/05/2026 20:04

Finally got to see this one! It was a great performance from Everton and we were not at our best. We attacked, they defended stoutly and tried to hit us on the break and came close to scoring a couple of times. When you get attack v defence type games, the attacking side nearly always wins. Lotte was possibly/probably offside but I don't think Leah Williamson fouled Brosnan, at worst it was two players going for the ball. So although in a VAR system the goal might have been ruled out for LWM being offside, overall justice was done - we deserved to win. Stina's instinctive finish was fantastic, I was so proud of her.

I would not have wanted to go into the last game with Liverpool absolutely needing to win, because we have seen what a threat they have become over the last few games.

DuncinToffee · 16/05/2026 15:12

We end the season with a home win COYB 💙

What a brilliant performance from the Charlton keeper!
A horrible way to be relegated but Leicester have been awful all season.

DuncinToffee · 23/05/2026 15:42

Yes, Sophie Whitehouse was immense.

Quite a journey for Charlton, they were one of the top teams in the 2000's. Their team got dismantled when the mens team were relegated from the EPL in 2007.

Ah. I didn't know this - that's an interesting story.
