I didn't see either match tonight but this has beengoing round on SM

Arsenal & Chelsea’s clash ends in complete chaos. Shortly after Chelsea scored a late goal to keep their UWCL dreams alive, Katie McCabe is not disciplined for pulling Alyssa Thompson’s hair. Manager Sonia Bompastor was sent off for protesting.

Yes, not sure what McCabe was thinking. She was lucky not to get a red.

I'm not surprised by Bompastors reaction.

I didn't realise she'd already been booked until I got a message to tell me! In those circumstances she's very lucky - but it was fun to see Bompastor lose her shit. 😊

DuncinToffee · 01/04/2026 22:56

She seemed genuinly shocked with what she had done but it should have been a red.

I don't think she had. I think everyone is saying that it should have been a straight red.

MrsMitford3 · 02/04/2026 08:39

Bompaster brought her phone to the press conference to show the incident-hopefully not setting a precedent...
She was lucky not to be sent off.
I do understand why Sonia was incensed and I would probably also be regularly sent off as a manager.

Lauren James also very lucky to be on the pitch after that stomp.
Unfortunately she has form for "accidentally stepping" on a player on the ground.
It is such an unpleasant side to her game and so unnecessary as she is a good player but I have watched the replay and there are a lot of other places she could have put her foot.
She lets her frustration get to her and for me it happens too often to be an accident.

Oh! That makes sense. I guess it was violent conduct.

Totally agree about Lauren but she makes it look accidental.

I have no idea what McCabe thought she was doing.

MrsMitford3 · 02/04/2026 14:31

Well Lauren has had a lot of practice perfecting the "accident" hasn't she???

Was just sent this-

MrsMitford3 · 02/04/2026 14:33

hmmm not letting me post it

Terrible refereeing in both legs. Two players from each side could have been sent off over the two games! I was so gutted for Stina because it was such a good build-up and goal and we would have sealed the tie and avoided the heart-attack minutes. And speaking of which, Daphne van Domselaar is a generational talent. Unbelievable spring, reactions and elasticity.

Phew. Now to see if it's Wolfsburg or Lyonnes we will face in the semis - I hope it's Wolfsburg because we have unfinished business with them.

Who is on her screen? It is her?

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 02/04/2026 23:02

Not looking forward to playing Lyon.

A lot of their players look very masculine.

It's Renee Slegers holding the UWCL trophy from last year! 😂

Sonia was showing an image of Katie grabbing Alyssa Thompson's hair. I think Katie was trying to grab her shirt so it would have been a red card either way but I honestly don't think she intended to grab her hair.

When I saw them at the home game last season it was plain to see that two of them are men. No names, obviously, but I'm sure you know who I mean!

DuncinToffee · 03/04/2026 11:40

No, I don't know who you mean and I would prefer to keep that away from this thread.

Just realised the Arsenal FA Cup game is on TV, happy days. 😊 Hope the ladies show the men how they should have done it.

DuncinToffee · 05/04/2026 15:09

They didn't manage to do that. Derserved win for Brighton.

Yes.

Brighton deserved their win.

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 05/04/2026 16:14

Yeah, that didn't go to plan.

Snowypeaks · 05/04/2026 16:26

Almost as annoying as the loss is the fact that I couldn't watch it and have realised I won't be able to see a full replay either, just 3 minutes of highlights. Actually scratch that, the loss is much more annoying.
But kudos to Brighton, it sounds like they more than deserved it. Hope this is their year to get that first trophy. Lovely club, great head coach.

If you're an Arsenal fan, do you want to watch a full replay?

Ha!
I like to analyse what went wrong and see if there are any positives to cling to!

Why can't you watch the full replay on the Arsenal website?
