What a match at Easter Road last night. Well done the Hibees.

TheSleepingGiant · 15/08/2025 17:05

Things appear to be looking brighter for Morecambe. Let's hope next Saturday the fans are back in the stadium soaking up that match day atmosphere.

ExceptionalDefender · 15/08/2025 17:49

Has everyone who’s playing finished their FPL team selection?

Nope, keep tinkering with mine.

DuncinToffee · 15/08/2025 17:58

Still deciding on who to make captain

All done for GW1 ⚽💙

Now finished mine, after some agonising!

TheNewGaard · 15/08/2025 20:18

I hope someone is keeping an eye on how many times Liverpool get away with grappling with someone in the penalty area at set plays, so we can compare it to Arsenal's 3 red cards on Sunday...

TheNewGaard · 15/08/2025 21:13

Ah, so Liverpool don't have to worry about hand balls any more. Nor for non-captains having a go at the ref.

I'm sure they'll all be applied in spades on Sunday.

PGMOL carries on as normal...

burblish · 15/08/2025 21:16

Oh, you mean like the handball in the first half by Bournemouth that wasn't given and which all the pundits decried as the wrong decision? Handballs like that? S'ok, we are used to VAR missing handballs against us - Odegaard had reason to be very grateful for that.

Btw, you do realise that not everything is about Arsenal, right? Oh wait, what am I saying - of course you don't! 🤣🤣🤣

TheNewGaard · 15/08/2025 21:26

Ah, looks like it was reported back to front where I was looking. Although there was obviously an Ekitike hand ball as well. Fair enough. It sounds like that wasn't dealt with properly.

TheNewGaard · 15/08/2025 21:27

And if you'd had as many dodgy decisions made against Liverpool, You'd be wary as well.

DuncinToffee · 15/08/2025 21:51

I have seen comments that Semenyo received racial abuse in the first half

He did. The game was paused and the fan was wheeled out in his wheelchair by the bizzies. Scumbag.

Tiswa · 15/08/2025 22:15

All teams have dodgy decisions against them! VAR isn’t infallible and sometimes the onfield decision has to stand!

Racial abuse though is never on

Tiswa · 15/08/2025 22:17

yeah having just seen it Bournemouth were lucky to not get that decision against them!

burblish · 15/08/2025 22:25

Absolutely disgusting for any player to be racially abused. I hope the bastard who said it is charged with a criminal offence - he will definitely be banned for life by Liverpool. I am glad it was dealt with visibly and properly, but it shouldn't happen in the first place.

Funny how teams that so often get it in their favour always say this...

cheesychipsontheoche · 15/08/2025 23:13

Cracking start to the premier league season that though.

roll on tomorrow. With all the talk of loyalty in football, of all Sunderland’s signings this summer the one I am most happy about is Luke O’Nien’s new contract. His statement was absolutely lovely and the day I see him on the pitch in the premier league will be an absolute joy.

and which team is that?

www.si.com/soccer/every-2024-25-premier-league-var-error

Both these have Everton the team that gained the most and Brentford the one who lost the most points

and Arsenal were only -1 from this so it wouldn’t have made any difference

now arguably VAR errors are different from the idea of perceived bias but the latter is far harder to prove and show given that most of Arsenal’s contentious decisions weren’t error but things that could go 50/50

but really yes it does even itself out the top would still be the top and the relegation still the relegation!

Every Premier League VAR mistake revealed: Find out the winners and losers

Which Premier League clubs got the worst of the VAR gaffes? Which actually benefited from mistakes? We've got all the answers with the official stats.

Keep telling yourself that. Until it happens to you.

DuncinToffee · 16/08/2025 00:25

Wait, what? Everton gained the most, as if 😂

But I will leave you to it.

Yeah apparently so I was surprised as well!

another one had Newcastle another had Newcastle dropping a place. This was the one I found 3 separate sources had down

because only offside and ball crossing lines are absolute the rest is subjective which I guess is where the issue lies!

as a spurs fan married to a Liverpool fan I am very much aware of VAR decisions I just think it can be perception bias

Pffft @Tiswa we’re not here for your facts and statistics. Feeling hard done by is what matters the most.
