Basically that Jackson hasn't been involved and now he is expected to come back for Delap's absence when they have other players who could do that.

Jackson's camp are saying that he has no intention of playing for Chelsea. I don't blame him.

DuncinToffee · 31/08/2025 16:33

PGMOL has issued a statement saying Fulham's goal should not have been disallowed, well isn't that good of them Hmm

Gutless and spineless and inept. Or hopelessly corrupt. Or both.

DuncinToffee · 31/08/2025 18:03

Hmm that was given as a handball against Tarky.

I think it should have been a pen (but then I would).

Not sure why Arteta left if so late to make changes when we were so blunt at the beginning of the second half.

TheNewGaard · 31/08/2025 18:37

We didn't really deserve to lose, but then we didn't really do enough to deserve to win. And you always risk losing to a bit of magic.

As so many have said, we need a bit of risk.

Tiswa · 31/08/2025 18:50

I think both sides were cagey about it and it would take something special to win it and it did

Arsenal yet again unlucky with injuries and Liverpool again having the luck needed to be champions

and Man Utd are ahead of Man City in the league

DuncinToffee · 31/08/2025 18:52

Villa's Martinez to Man U?

Always think Potter is a brilliant case of 'Be careful what you wish for.'

Great win for us. Wasn’t looking good in the first half but great subs from FH. Lovely to see Milner get his first goal for us

burblish · 31/08/2025 20:21

@Cuwins Liverpool beat Arsenal and James Milner (my favourite player when he was at Liverpool) was a key contributor in a defeat for Man City - it was a very, very good day for me 😁

Excellent.
He seems to be a lovely guy. And amazing the way he way he has come back from what was by all accounts a serious injury, at his age.

He is a gem - model pro on and off the pitch, no bullshit, no ego, and a far more skilful player than he gets credit for. I couldn't believe it when I heard about the post-surgical complications he had after that injury last season; to go from barely being able to walk to playing his 24th consecutive season in the Premier League at the age of 39...phenomenal. I'm so glad Brighton renewed his contract for another year.

Tiswa · 31/08/2025 20:37

I saw that James Milner is the second youngest goalscorer in the premier league (26th Dec 2002) and second oldest (today) and his 16 year old picture looks like a 30 year old man!

Proper professional and I think his Jota tributes as well are moving

DuncinToffee · 31/08/2025 21:04

5th in the table, I take that Grin

Outside of the top 3 (who are my predicted top 3) the table is not what I would have predicted at all especially the bottom 5

JasonTindallsTan · 31/08/2025 22:54

Doesn’t surprise me where we are in the table given our only striker has taken the name of his role a tad too seriously and is sitting at home in his Liverpool kegs furiously praying they can stump up the readies for him.

Villa is a shame but their summer has been hampered so much by PSR, just like it’s designed to do. They’d been getting too big for their boots and like us in the previous 3 windows where we couldn’t do any business, they’re paying the price for pushing their way into playing with the big boys 🙄

Tiswa · 01/09/2025 01:13

Seems they have £125-130 million which is a fair valuation IMO (still up as promised DS could watch the leagues cup final as a final holiday treat before back to school. potential for trophy 47 for Messi
still hasn’t started at 1am kick off!

burblish · 01/09/2025 07:15

The BBC are reporting a deal has been reached for Isak for £125M. If that's true, I'm not sure how I feel about it. As we have bought Ekitike, it seems Cody Gakpo is most likely to miss out so that Isak plays centre forward and Ekitike goes to the left; I think Gakpo is a very effective and underrated player for us (he has also just renewed his contract, so bit of a kick in the teeth for him - after Diaz left, Gakpo must have expected to be first choice on the left wing). We do need striker cover but we need centre back cover more. Guehi is the signing I really wanted, but I don't think it will happen - rumour has it Palace want to take Joe Gomez on loan as part of any deal, and that would leave us in the same position of lacking sufficient centre back cover (Gomez can also cover at full back).

TheBabyFatmoss · 01/09/2025 07:43

“We’ve done it again, we’ve done it again, Aston Villa we’ve done it again “ 😂

JasonTindallsTan · 01/09/2025 07:58

I’m just relieved it’s over but I think the Newcastle board have fucked it letting him go in a display of weakness for that amount with only one striker through the door. Brentford and Wolves have held firmer than us in not selling to a club in the same league to weaken their team and we’ve bowed to Liverpool. Sets a dangerous precedent for every other player in our squad who decides they don’t want to honour their contract any longer.

Fuck you Alexander Isak. I hope your career is filled with injury and disappointment. You will never be remembered with fondness in the North East. A rat who let us down.

I don't agree with the transfer window closing after the season has started. My preference would be no window but a limit on how many players you can sign in a season (say three plus any who were out of contract at the start of the season).

Oh I’m done now. But I’d just woken up so that was me reacting to the news that he’s actually going. He’s dead to me.
