Thread two

We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

Unfortunately my usually wonderful coffee machine decided it needed descaling this morning and the whole process is such a faff. Made worse by trying to do it uncaffeinated. 😂 Currently rinsing it with filtered water before normal service can be resumed and we can see if I still have any brain cells left. 😬

At least those who had a bad weekend can’t dwell on it too much with Monza this weekend. Apart from Lewis with his 5 place grid penalty. Ouch. I saw how fast he was going in Sky’s pre race coverage and noticed he seemed to be driving very fast considering the people near the track.

Comefromaway · 03/09/2025 09:55

I hope Kimi does better in Monza.

At least Kimi has a contract for next year which shows the team has faith in him.

He doesn’t officially have a contract. Neither of the Mercedes drivers too (I realise they’re both 95% likely to be there next year).

Just watching FP2 and surprised checking FP1 results the Ferrari’s are on top. Sadly I can’t see that lasting through to qually.

Kimi has just beached himself in the gravel - he really is having a tough time. The good thing is he seems to have a lot of support from other drivers including Lewis.

You really can’t stop Max, Pole at Monza, well done.

Lando was lucky Oscar helped him in Q2.

Should be an 8nteresting race tomorrow.

Dd tells me that at Monza P1 isn’t the best side of the grid so she thinks Lando has a good chance at overtaking Max.

Kimi did ok in the end. Let’s hope he doesn’t take anyone out this time.

I didn’t see any of quali as I was at the football.

dd is eating lasagne tonight & I joked that it matches the F1. So this might have to become a thing. Currently looking up Azerbaijani cuisine.

Dill - lots and lots of dill.

I could get on board with baklava

bluetongue · 06/09/2025 22:02

I have the ingredients to make spaghetti bol (not authentic I know). Wasn’t’ even thinking about the race when I bought them 🤣

very entertaining quali. I really hope Max is in win it or bin it mode for the race. Lando has no choice but to throw everything at overtaking Max at the start so it coukd get messy (will probably be a boring start after I said that).

Brazilianadventure · 07/09/2025 14:14

We actually have a race.

Lewis on the move.

What the heck happened with Landos pit stop

Brazilianadventure · 07/09/2025 15:11

Wow. That’s a hard one but Lando gave Oscar the first pit stop to secure his place.

Fair play by everyone at McLaren.

Personally I wouldn't have asked Oscar to do that. I'm a Lando fan, not keen on Oscar, but the pitstop wasn't his fault. He is also the faster driver.

Comefromaway · 07/09/2025 15:18

But Lando had to give up his place in the exact same situation last year which may have cost him the championship

Lando should have pitted first but team orders asked him to put second. So fair enough to put the places back.

Brazilianadventure · 07/09/2025 15:20

Well done Max. I wonder if this is track specific or if RB/Max are going to stage a come back in the drivers championship?

McLaren will have a difficult debrief.

Ferrari looked better and closer to Mercedes/George.

Well done Max

StitchHappens · 07/09/2025 15:45

That was a tough decision by mclaren. I don't know if I agree with it, but can see why they did it. I don't know how it will play out later in the year if Lando manages to close the gap. I think they are banking on returning to dominating after this race, and if Max manages to get in the way of that it may not turn out to have been the right choice.

Comefromaway · 07/09/2025 15:53

Nearly had a heart attack in the middle of that as I’d forgotten about the phone alert thing

gingercat02 · 07/09/2025 16:01

If I was Oscar I'd have told them to feck off. Fair play to him. Landos not a happy boy.
DS will delighted 😀
