We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

Everyone voting for Lando?

I have. It’s a close call as I also think all the England ladies are deserving too. I’ve got a feeling the footie ladies vote will be split which is a shame.

I'm not English which helps, Rory would have got my vote if Lando wasn't there

I watched a few mins (the Lando bit) but got bored when they started talking about the Ryder cup and switched over. (I have the attention span of a 4 year old and golf/snooker/darts just don’t cut it for me).

Do you think Lando will get an MBE? Lewis did after his first world championship.

I don’t know. I do think that Lando has talked about mental health a lot which is good for awareness so perhaps.

Part of me wants a woman to win

I don’t think so. Lando’s win isn’t in the same league as the first one by Lewis. Lewis was the first ever black driver in F1, in his rookie season missed winning the WDC by only 1 point and then won it in his second season (on the very last race). Makes what Lando has achieved this year pale into insignificance (no disrespect meant to Lando).

Down to the last 3. I think it will be Rory.

You know who I’d like to see acknowledged - Suzy Wolff for her work with women’s F1 Academy

they managed to even include Ethan Mcleaud in the memorial already 💔

Nice they recognised EJ as one of the sports stars lost this year.

I didn’t think Lando would win but 3rd is still great

Voted for lando but didn't expect him to win. Surprised Rory Mcllroy did though.
My money was on Ellie.

Jensen Button also got an MBE after he won the world championship so I think Lando has a strong chance of getting one.

Lots of the finalists for SPOTY would be worthy of an Honour, so it will be interesting to see how many are included in the list.

@Brazilianadventure We did the Silverstone Lap of Lights in 2021 (like you, we combined it with the museum, ice skating etc, but didn't stay overnight). It was different and good fun. We did the inaugural Cycle Silverstone that year, too, which was fantastic!

@burblish it does make a nice day out. I partly wanted an excuse to stay at the Hilton opposite the Wing. Way out of my price range on an F1 weekend

I agree Lando may get an MBE either in the New Year Honours or Birthday Honours.

Just saw this on Reddit. Makes me love Carlos even more.
