Thread two

We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

I like Oscar’s mum. She keeps him grounded.

I avoid the majority of social media re F1 as most of it at best is sheer speculation and at worst is just utter nastiness and trolling.

I subscribe to TacticalRab on YouTube for F1 news as he provides sensible clear updates / views without all the hyperbole and is quite upfront about when it’s speculation or there’s some actual facts involved.

I was appalled at the booing of Lando yesterday. Bizarre. He seems to have his head sorted at the moment though so hopefully his reaction was similar to mine (as in “fuck you Mexico!”).

Edit: TacticalRab was talking about the Lawson-marshalls incident last night after the race (I watched his podcast when I went to bed).

Edited

I'll check that out. I listen to Missed Apex podcast. They're really good. They do a YouTube feed too, but I haven't watched that.

Ha yes, I watch Missed Apex on YouTube sometimes too but TacticalRab is always my first call. (I’m a management consultant so do a lot of presenting in my job and I’m always impressed with his presenting skills…..sad but true!)

Brazilianadventure · 27/10/2025 16:48

The Liam Lawson incident with the Marshalls was shocking. I’m glad no one was hurt.

OP posts:
HundredMilesAnHour · 27/10/2025 21:48

According to a photographer who was present at the Mexico post-race press conference, a local journalist said the reason Lando was booed (all weekend apparently) was because the crowd didn’t agree with the Lando-Oscar ‘switcheroo’ at Monza.

Lawson was also booed by them but his booing was due to him taking Perez’s Red Bull seat. Seems the Mexicans may enjoy holding a grudge. 🙄

Brazilianadventure · 28/10/2025 06:55

Lando handled it really well in the press conference. He talked about Hungary 2024 as an example of how the team manage fairness.

Georges radio messages were v entertaining, usually most of the drivers are pretty brief, or just say "copy" or drop the f bomb if some drama happens, he was having a full conversation/argument! 🤣

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 30/10/2025 20:50

Mexican motorsport federation are trying to blame Lawson / Racing Bulls for the marshals incident!

Comefromaway · 30/10/2025 21:05

Ridiculous. He was expecting debris. The double yellow flags were probsbly the only think that stopped the Marshalls being killed.

Wakemeuuuup · 30/10/2025 22:11

So Massa has actually taken his case to court. I can't believe he's doing it. I don't think he has a chance of winning

www.planetf1.com/news/felipe-massa-court-case-opening-day-arguments-as-defence-labels-f1-2008-case-torturous

Brazilianadventure · 31/10/2025 07:24

I can’t believe they are trying to blame Liam. It was the Race Director who missed where he was on the tracker.

I feel sorry for Massa but he shouldn’t win. I always think people forget Spa 2008 where Lewis was given a 25 second penalty and lost not just first place but lots of points for giving Kimi a place back but apparently not in the right way even though the rule was written after the race.

OP posts:
HundredMilesAnHour · 31/10/2025 10:24

This Massa case is utterly bonkers. Why has no-one taken him aside and asked him what on earth is he thinking?! I guess he’s getting lots of press and even bad press is better than no press (unless you’re Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor) if you’re that way inclined but the legal bills? Ouch!

I particularly like the quote from F1 Management's Lawyer in the court transcript: "In truth, it was not the deployment of the safety car which changed the course of history for Mr Massa, but rather a series of subsequent racing errors by him and his team during the remaining 47 laps of the race. The simple fact is that over the course of both the Singapore Grand Prix and across the 2008 season, Mr Hamilton outperformed Mr Massa and everyone else."

So maybe another decade to wait and then Lewis can think about taking the FIA to court for Abu Dhabi😜 I suspect Lewis is smart enough to have better things to do with his life, both then and now.

gingercat02 · 31/10/2025 12:07

The Massa thing is mad. DH said the same thing about AD21 @HundredMilesAnHour🤣

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 31/10/2025 12:18

Difference is Hamilton won other world championships and Massa didn’t. So Hamilton can afford to let 2021 go, he still has an amazing total.

Massa will always be a runner-up. Something he doesn’t seem to be able to let go.

Brazilianadventure · 31/10/2025 20:16

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope I am not convinced Lewis has let AD21 go. Silverstone 2024 showed how badly it affected him. I think No 8 would be his big fuck you to MBS and the FIA.

Someone raised the question on a podcast this week whether Lewis would could jeopardise Max‘s championship by knocking him off track accidentally over the next few races which I thought was quite interesting considering that Lewis has nothing to lose theoretically.

That’s if they come together on a first corner, etc.

Lewis has his reputation to lose. And his self-respect.

He has nothing to gain by knocking Max off track and if those were tactics he thought were acceptable, I’m sure he would knocked Max off track several years ago. I think a lot of people would!

Brazilianadventure · 01/11/2025 17:08

I agree Lewis wouldn’t do anything intentionally. However, he could do what Perez did in AD21 and defend brilliantly to stop Max getting a point or two.

It could be the Ferrari’s and Merc’s that decide the championship. The more they do well and get between the three potential winners the bigger the potential points swings.

I don’t think there’s any love lost between Max and Lewis so I suspect Lewis will defend hard against Max regardless. Although that does increase his risk of being pushed off the track given Max’s ‘bull in a china shop’ approach so it might depend how adrift Ferrari are in the constructors. I don’t think Max lives rent free in the head of Lewis (or vice versa) like Lewis lives rent free in Fernando’s head. 😉

It is interesting how bitter Alonso is about Lewis.

I thought the recent tongue-in-cheek trolling of Fernando’s “I don’t fucking believe it” on Lewis driving without brakes by Lewis himself on IG after Singapore to be comedy cold. For anyone who missed it:

I’m looking forward to this weekend. Sprint qualifying is after work, the spring race is a nice time (I’m out on a school trip but hopefully I will be able to watch either on my phone or laptop). Then very nice timings for Sunday.

With everything so close it is going to be exciting.

Brazilianadventure · 07/11/2025 09:03

Rain is forecast over the weekend, Brazil and rain = exciting race and unusual results.

Apologies for my bad typing. That should, of course, be comedy GOLD.

I’m so happy we have a GP this weekend. And a GP with rain is always a winner! A Brazilian GP with rain even more so!
