We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

I’ve heard the rumours but not taking any notice of them. Why would Mercedes take Lewis over George? And I think kimi is already signed for next year?

Why would Mercedes take back a nearly 41year old driver? I see Oscar or Charles moving teams being more likely than Lewis going to my other team before he retires.

I'd really like to see George be supported and in a good car to make a serious challenge for a WDC.

I would hate Lewis to go back to Mercedes. Kimi has had a brilliant season and George has grown now he is he senior driver.
I think Lewis will give Ferrari 2026 and then retire if he thinks his championship chances are gone.
Alonso is living proof that staying too long isn't good. Like Schumacher coming back was a failure too.

Mercedes have just announced George has signed his contract so they are staying with the same lineup

I’d love to know what the sticking point was with George/Mercedes for it to take so long to get the contract agreed. Other than Max of course. 😜

@HundredMilesAnHour I think it was the length of the deal. Sky are saying it’s a multi year deal.

Is 1 plus 1 counted as a multi year deal?

In F1 land and the media probably, in the real world no it’s shockingly bad treatment of George.

The rumours were he wanted more money than they were willing to pay, I guess the market of available drivers makes him worth it now 🤔

I think Toto wanted to be absolutely sure that he had no chance of getting Max. Giving George a 1 + 1 deal means that there is still a Merc seat available for Max in 2027 if he wants it.

Nico is on fire plus both Williams did well. Ferrari not liv8ng up to FP1 promise - same story all year.

Looks likely that neither Ferrari driver will get a podium for the rest of the season.

Love that Max is helping to spice up the WDC race.

Any one done the calculations? Who would win if Max wins from now on if Lando and Oscar come 2nd and 3rd?

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope I think Oscar in that scenario but honestly with 3 sprint races it’s harder to work out.

Thank god it’s the sprint not the race as Max can only get 8 points. He is going to win this WC isn’t he, the racing gods are with him.
