Thread two

We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

Come on George & nice to see Kimi doing well )

Brazilianadventure · 05/10/2025 14:42

Lewis out of brakes.
Max keeping Lando behind.

Well done George.
Max drove and defended well as Lando was quicker.
McLarens inter team battle is going to be interesting.
Lewis is definitely getting to grips with the Ferrari.

Well done George !

snd well done McLaren. Dd is happy. Not sure Oscar is.

RockaLock · 05/10/2025 15:00

I would love to be a fly on the wall when Oscar speaks to Zak Brown after the race!

Well done George. A big shame for Lewis at the end though.

Watching the post-race interviews, and ever since my DH pointed out how all the drivers push one sleeve up a bit to show off their watches (to keep their watch sponsors happy) I can’t unsee it, it’s so blatant Grin

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 05/10/2025 15:03

They all look knackered, thought George might pass out during the interviews! This was such a tough race.

Looking forward to Oscar’s interview.

Back in 2007 and 2008 ( and possibly other years) McLaren had race suit tops that the drivers wore in the post qualli and post race press conferences. A very young Lewis was always carefully adjusting the sleeves to make sure all the sponsors could be seen. 😂

The drivers are all so media savvy these days. It why the clip of Carlos and Charles driving the hire van from Genoa to Monaco was so funny because it was so genuine and not PR managed within an inch of its life.

edited for typo.

I’m finding it quite amusing during the team photos how Oscar still has a face like thunder and Lando is looking a bit shifty.

Poor Lewis and his brakes. I note that Fernando has, of course, tried to put the boot in. I don’t think Fernando has ever gotten over being beaten by Lewis in his very first season.

workingcocker · 05/10/2025 18:27

Poor Lando looked like he was going to faint on the podium.

Brazilianadventure · 06/10/2025 20:07

It’s being reported that RB have settled the pending ET case with the female employee who complained about CH. I wonder if it’s part of CH’s settlement that RB resolved this so he doesn’t have to give evidence at the ET. ££££ to save CHs embarrassment.

She must have had a case to get a mega payoff.

OP posts:
Comefromaway · 06/10/2025 20:31

i reckon she must have. Lots if employers settle due to the expense even if there is no case but RB are not short of money.

Wakemeuuuup · 06/10/2025 20:38

I hope she took them to the cleaners

I agree settling is often far cheaper plus it’s much less stressful for everyone.

I’m starting to wonder if the whole Lando/Oscar thing is going somewhere nasty. The press whipping up so much hate between them (which I don’t believe is there in reality). I’m worried something will turn nasty and there will some un hinged idiot who will flip and try to do something stupid to one of them.

Maybe it’s just how the world feels right now, and I really hope I’m wrong.

Anyone else totally fed up with the hype?

Yes. It’s the way the media works, conflict sells. It’s not just F1, sports but politics, actors, Royal Family etc.

You only have to watch DTS to see how they manufactured conflict e.g. Lando and Carlos.

Am I the only person who has never watched Drive to Survive? ISs it still available and what on?

workingcocker · 08/10/2025 11:59

It’s horrible, I hope they stay safe. Especially with the US races coming up. Maybe none of them being American will help that aspect.

All of the series are still on Netflix and readily available.

Wakemeuuuup · 08/10/2025 12:03

I get so wound up watching dts, I end up shouting at the TV.

Eh? I think you’re over-reacting a bit here.

The ‘drama’ between Lando and Oscar is minimal, especially given they’re competing for a world championship.

I take it you weren’t following F1 during the Hamilton-Rosberg years? Now that was drama between 2 drivers in the same team competing for a championship.

I actually stopped watching it after the first few series because it’s so OTT and manufactured.

It crossed my mind that’s all.

No, I had many years when I wasn’t into F1.. I was a massive Schumacher fan back in the 90s but then came back to it about 5/6 years ago.

I hope I’m totally deluded and wrong.

Ah, I don't have netfllix, hence why I have never come across it.

gingercat02 · 08/10/2025 15:21

We love a bit of pre-season DTS, but you do have to treat it as the tabloid tv it is.

StarCourt · 14/10/2025 17:21

is anyone else reading the rumours
that Lewis is going back to Merc?
