Just seen Ange Postecoglou has been sacked 😭 I am gutted, but it’s not a huge surprise. Having said that though, only the Telegraph is reporting it so far - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/06/06/ange-postecoglou-sacked-tottenham-hotspur-levy-europa/ - as I haven’t seen anything anywhere else yet, so maybe it’s still conjecture, although it would be awful if it was, as they’re reporting it as a done deal.

Edit: cross post with @MustTryHarderAndHarder !

Edited

Do you think that means Frank has agreed to take over?

I was determined not to get drawn into the whole transfers saga, but it's been amusing so far with everyone blowing their top about Cunha and the possibility of us signing Mbeumo and Gyokeres.

I'm just hoping someone is stupid enough to take Sancho (good luck to them, he's a little weasel, and that's me being nice) and Rashford.

It's going to be a long summer I think.

I'm sure the BBC football page will keep you up to date, including such things no doubt as coverage of all the pre-season friendlies in the Falkland Islands or wherever the men from Old Trafford play them.

Re the Club World Cup, I don't think tickets are selling very well.

I have no interest in it whatsoever

They aren’t - FIFA are now trying to bundle them up with World Cup tickets

the FIFA packs:bundles are fascinating actually the right to buy a world cup tickets alongside Club World Cup ones

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2025 17:48

Hmm, Trump's travel ban might be a problem.

Sad they've sacked Ange.

Sad they've sacked Ange.

Absolutely bonkers

Sad they've sacked Ange.

Worst decision they could have made. Furious.

Levy really knows nothing.

Oblomov25 · 06/06/2025 18:09

The statement is fine.

Oblomov25 · 06/06/2025 18:27

Ange's response was classy.

Thank you for such enlightening information👍🏻

@Tiswa time will tell with the signings I suppose.

Oblomov25 · 06/06/2025 18:27

Ange's response was classy.

I was just coming on to say exactly that. Really classy.

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2025 17:48

Hmm, Trump's travel ban might be a problem.

Yep not clarified yet

I hope he gets another job in England Ange

I don’t see Thomas Frank - Brentford works for him not sure Spurs will but that is just my opinion

TheSleepingGiant · 06/06/2025 19:23

Oblomov25 · 06/06/2025 18:27

Ange's response was classy.

It was and a poor decision imo. Yes league position was awful but he delivered what he promised and with mitigating circumstances for a portion of the season. He deserves better.

SlightlyJaded · 06/06/2025 19:36

I haven't heard anyone applaud the decision yet. No fans/pundits/players/managers - literally nobody.

Ange said he was laser focussed on winning that trophy - and he succeeded. Why on earth he doesn't get the chance to now be laser focussed on the premiership for one more season, is beyond me.

Now we are back to square one and will lose a couple of players who have said they would leave with him (Romero for one)

I know Levy is a money man, but his 'instinct' for anything related to the actual game is so poor, that he really just needs to go.

Thomas Frank has been fine for Brentford but he doesn't feel like the right man for the job. I would have been happier with a Poch return to sweeten the blow.

Oblomov25 · 06/06/2025 19:42

Sack him, for whom?
I like TF, but how is he an improvement, unless skinflint Levy hopes TF can again work miracles by creating a team out of nothing with no financial backing.

Tiswa · 06/06/2025 19:55

That is why I would have given it another year see how it goes, see how USMNT did in the World Cup and get Poch back. Because frankly he needs to win something with a Premier League team (and not come up against Liverpool so I have to support them for DS).

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 06/06/2025 22:05

SlightlyJaded · 06/06/2025 18:06

Levy really knows nothing.

This made me laugh on HYS:

Daniel Levy: Ange, we don’t win trophies here. You’ll have to go.

Tarkan · 06/06/2025 22:16

Friendly for Scotland today went well. 🙈🙈🙈 Gunn injured just a couple of minutes in and replacement Slicker wasn’t great. 🙈

MaybeNotBob · 07/06/2025 00:05

Sacking big Ange makes me think of the quote from the Hitchhiker's Guide (Douglas Adams was a gooner, by the way);

"If you've done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways! The Restaurant at the end of the universe!"

TizerorFizz · 07/06/2025 04:15

I think it’s been difficult for Tottenham. So many first team players haven’t played and the defence has leaked like a sieve. The “star” player (Romero) isn’t a star very often. He plays when he wants to. He’s a defender who forgets to defend.

The young players at Spurs have had to play too much and suffer humbling defeats. It’s difficult to see that as confidence building. They need to work out why so many players have been injured. Too much mileage is one theory but the loss of so many players was devastating and others are not good enough or don’t put a shift in.

Ange was always going to struggle to stay with the lowly league position. A new manager needs to influence sales and purchases and work on defence! Not sure TF is the right fit.

Tiswa · 07/06/2025 09:06

Looks like the players are really upset though as I think we thought they would be - he had the dressing room.

The reason Arne Slot worked so well at Liverpool was the hand over of the dressing room the players knew it was his decision

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 07/06/2025 09:35

Not surprised but same time...seems a daft decision. Let him see what he can build from the trophy win and how the next league season starts and then decide. Sometimes people at the top are way too quick. Sometimes it works..Sometimes it doesn't.

Nice to see the reactions and support though says a lot

MaybeNotBob · 07/06/2025 11:55

I have to agree. Apart from an FA Cup, Arteta didn't have great success in his first couple of seasons, but the Arsenal board gave him time and backed him, modestly initially, in the market, which allowed him to start to create the team he wanted. Maybe Ange's vision wasn't so clear to Levy.

Tiswa · 07/06/2025 12:56

I think it is more Levy is and always has been trigger happy. Arteta would not still be manager if he had Levy rather than the Arsenal board.

I wonder is Juande Ramos as well as Ten Hag was a factor but he lost the dressing room
