40 years since the Heysel disaster today.

Remembering the 39 fans who went to a football match and never made it home ❤️

DuncinToffee · 29/05/2025 20:11

I remember watching that on TV

RIP 39

I think PSG may have this...

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2025 22:11

Close call but they just edged it.......

Enjoyed final. Surprised how dominant PSG were.

Tiswa · 31/05/2025 22:32

I was surprised by how emotional I found it all - probably due to the fact that Xana is a very similar age to my daughter

Hellohah · 01/06/2025 06:41

Just going to say PSG very lucky they don't have to face us in that Super Cup 😂

Tiswa · 01/06/2025 09:46

PSG were once they found their groove the team of the season in the champions league.

They deserved to beat Liverpool in the round of 16 but the strict structure means that those things happen because that never should have been a round of 16 match because winner really was favourite for the final.

little sad we didn’t get to see a PSG Barcelona match but Inter beat Barcelona so… I think the serie A loss there really took it out of them

what does make me sad was the riots in Paris

Dday though to find out who will be managing Spurs in the Suoer Cup!

Oblomov25 · 01/06/2025 13:29

Yes, PSG now have to face us Spurs in the super cup, bet they're quivering in their boots not

Tiswa · 01/06/2025 13:54

DS and I just did FIFA club World Cup predictions and before they face Spurs they are pretty much on course to definitely face Chelsea and potentially Man City.

They literally could beat 5 of the big 6 clubs in a six month period and I think it is fair to say the one they won’t play they would definitely beat!

MaybeNotBob · 06/06/2025 12:11

Good, Gabriel has signed another contract.

So, what are everyone's hopes and expectations for the silly season?

Ignoring the abomination that is the World Club Cup

MaybeNotBob · 06/06/2025 12:19

For me, we can't ignore the need for a striker. I'm hoping for Šeško which seems like a good possibility at the moment, although expensive. I'd much prefer him to Gyökeres, who I watched twice in the Champions League, and was not remotely impressed. I presume there must be other options lined up in case these fall through. Ekitike looks like he's going elsewhere in the Premiership, but I could see a case for Mateta.

Konstantinos Karetsas looks interesting and has obviously been one I've been following for hours ages.

Zubimendi looks a likely arrival which would make me happy as well.

Otherwise we'll probably continue Arteta's drive to get a monopoly of the world's left backs...

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2025 12:25

No idea, there is a distinct lack of rumours re Everton.

Alcaraz signed, Gana on verge to sign extension

We need a rebuild.

Re the Club World Cup, I don't think tickets are selling very well.

I have no interest in it whatsoever

Hold onto Mitoma and Baleba in particular. Not too concerned about Pedro

MaybeNotBob · 06/06/2025 12:51

Apparently, we might be getting Kepa as a back up to Raya for the princely sum of £5 million!

MaybeNotBob · 06/06/2025 12:54

I like Mitoma, but I still rate Martinelli. I notice that he has been getting more goals and assists since MLS has arrived and actually given him some back up on the left. Before he was pretty much isolated in a way that would cause most wingers he's been compared to to wilt. And his defensive work and tracking back has been hugely underestimated IMHO.

Excellent you keep Martinelli then and leave Mitoma where he is. Thank you

I was determined not to get drawn into the whole transfers saga, but it's been amusing so far with everyone blowing their top about Cunha and the possibility of us signing Mbeumo and Gyokeres.

I'm just hoping someone is stupid enough to take Sancho (good luck to them, he's a little weasel, and that's me being nice) and Rashford.

It's going to be a long summer I think.

Aren’t you just replacing 2 players all about the wages with 2 players who are all about the wages?

Gyokeres is an interesting one free shooting in Portugal isn’t the premier league.

Sir Trevor Brooking’s wife Hilkka has died. Sad

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 06/06/2025 15:06

Nwanari is in the U21 squad.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 06/06/2025 16:55

The papers are saying that Ange is going to be sacked.

Fandango52 · 06/06/2025 16:57

Just seen Ange Postecoglou has been sacked 😭 I am gutted, but it’s not a huge surprise. Having said that though, only the Telegraph is reporting it so far - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/06/06/ange-postecoglou-sacked-tottenham-hotspur-levy-europa/ - as I haven’t seen anything anywhere else yet, so maybe it’s still conjecture, although it would be awful if it was, as they’re reporting it as a done deal.

Edit: cross post with @MustTryHarderAndHarder !
