VAR needs to be overhauled. I have said right from the beginning that it needs to be far more consistently applied (not sure of the correct English, but in German all the talk is of "incidents that could turn out to change the course of the match". So including all incidents in penalty areas that aren't immediately obvious, taking down the last man etc.
But i have always said, and i wish FIFA would listen because I'm not alone here:
- the decision must be delivered within 2 minutes. If they can't come to a conclusion the ref's original decision must stand
b) any offside decisions that require a calibrated line to make the decision should be awarded in favour of the attacking side (ie. not offside)
iii) VAR at least (but preferably all refs involved in a match) should produce a written explanation of their decisions within 24 hours of the match.
They were experimenting in some 2nd Bundesliga matches this season where the ref is miked up and explains the VAR decision to the crowd. I quite liked it when watching on TV. In the stadium i would have been singing "wir wissen wo dein Auto steht"
