I still think once the disappointment is over that Aston Villa will realise that this season they peaked in the Champions League and a good run and potential trophy win is better

Notts Forest ditto.

@Cuwins a good window and Tom Watson looks good and with the majority of competition for Europe playing midweek I think you stand a good chance of getting back

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 25/05/2025 20:16

Phew made it in the end. Now see what happens Wednesday

TheSleepingGiant · 26/05/2025 12:05

Missed all the last day PL action as my manager thought it would be a good day to get married! It was a beautiful day but she had a couple of drop outs due to Charlton getting to Wembley 😬
Least I get to see the Walsall/Wimbledon final later. COYD's!!

DuncinToffee · 26/05/2025 17:06

Congratulations on the promotion Dons!

I hope those attending the Liverpool parade are all ok

Absolutely horrible news from Liverpool. I hope everyone is ok.😢

Currently watching Ross County v Livingston in the Scottish premiership play off. Whoever loses will be against us next year so we’re hoping Ross County win (currently on 2-0, 3-1 on aggregate) because we don’t have to travel so far to Livi. 😁

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/05/2025 20:48

Yes, horrible news from Liverpool.

I'm watching the U17 match against Chechnia.

We are winning 4-1. Max Dowman scored a great goal as did Brighton's Harry Howell.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/05/2025 21:14

If it stays like this then we are going through. Emile Heskey's son Reigan has just come on.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/05/2025 21:16

I spoke too soon. We've just conceded so we won't now unless we or Italy score again.

Tarkan · 26/05/2025 21:27

I spoke too soon too, it’s now 3-2 (4-3) to Livingston. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Still over 20 minutes to go though.

Tarkan · 26/05/2025 22:02

Livi scored at the last second so that’s them promoted to the Premiership, Ross County relegated to Championship so Arbroath have two trips all the way home to Dingwall next season then.

Hadn't seen that was on. Are there more games or are we out?

MaybeNotBob · 26/05/2025 22:03

No that's it now. We came third in the group on goal difference.

We've got such a talented group of players but we but we only won one of our group matches and we were unlucky to have Italy in the group who are the reigning Champions and are excellent.

Max Dowman was brilliant today but he was taken off after 60 minutes probably because he was being battered and he also got a yellow card for dissent.

The problem with Max is is that the other team know what a threat is and don't let him play. He hardly got the ball against Italy and Belgium and when he did he was fouled almost immediately.

MaybeNotBob · 26/05/2025 23:33

That's a shame.

Hopefully Dowman can learn from Saka how to deal with being constantly fouled every single game.

JasonTindallsTan · 27/05/2025 16:28

Our sporting director has gone after less than a year in post. Just one normal week as a Newcastle fan is all I ask 🙄😂

SlightlyJaded · 28/05/2025 17:19

Spurs supporters - what are your thoughts re: Ange?

I was so sure he had to go, and had said 'out loud' that winning silverware wouldn't change the fact of our dismal form this season, but here I am thinking that I want to give him another season...

I keep thinking about him saying that he was 'laser focussed' on winning the Europa league and wondering what might happen if he turns that 'laser focus' to the Premiership. I don't think we have a chance in hell of winning CL (great as it will be for attracting new players if Levy will open his wallet), so if he could commit to focussing on the Prem, I'd like to give him one more season.

Tiswa · 28/05/2025 17:37

My Dad isn’t sure he doesn’t want to rush into anything and end up making a mistake - I think the problem is that decent managers aren’t that easy to find not one who can challenge for the top honours.

He is popular in the dressing room as well - I think one of the reasons Arne Slot worked so well at Liverpool is that the dressing room understood Kloppnwanted to go and therefore signed up to the new person.

Sacking him now how will that effect the mood and the players who for the Europa League if not the Premier League turned up for him

I mean one more season would go to the World Cup maybe after that a return for Poch!

Brefugee · 28/05/2025 17:44

"recollections may vary"

SlightlyJaded · 28/05/2025 17:48

@Tiswa Yes Madders and a few others have been very vocal about wanting him to stay. One more season of Ange, and then take a view (with Poch waiting in the wings) feels ideal to me.

Thomas Frank, Glasner or Iraola seem to be emerging as real contenders (think Silva has said outright that he is staying put) - and whilst I think they could all bring something new to the club, Levy has to be prepared to spend and I don't think he is, so on that basis, surely better to give Ange another season to implement all that he now knows about the players.

Wish they'd hurry up and say.

TheSleepingGiant · 28/05/2025 20:00

Even if Spurs lost the Europa League I wanted Ange to have another transfer window (although signing players would have been a challenge with no European footie) and be given some of the season to prove himself with a, hopefully, fully fit squad and a couple of new additions. With Spurs in recent years I've never found fault with the managers, only Levy and ENIC.

Agree decent managers are hard to find, and no disrespect to them but it would take more than one decent season from Glasner/Iraola to convince me they would be the
right man to manage the club going forward. Marco Silva I do see as one for the future though, I love how he sets his teams up to play.

God that would be amazing if Ange stayed on for at least a couple more seasons and then we got Pochettino back 🥰🥰 that would be the dream. And as Ange has now proved himself by winning a trophy, it would be fab if he gave the PL his all and they could finish in the top four (or even, you know, finish top…)

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 28/05/2025 21:57

Boom job done trophy won

outofdate · 28/05/2025 22:26
