@LetsGoFlyAKiteee Spurs had the whole squad there! Don’t know why they didn’t line up the winning squad first though. It was a bit odd.

Tiswa · 23/05/2025 07:35

I have to say if 8th does have a European Place attached Brighton do have an advantage with the fixtures it cant be every season that you play players who have been partying so much

and I don’t blame the players by the way you need a certain mentality to win to put yourself on the line - Adam Wharton and Mark Guehi showed the injury side and Micky van der ven could have been injured in the goal line clearance. If you have already won it is difficult to do that and not think ahead to next season

I don’t know- on one hand there is that in the other the stadium will an absolutely bursting and bouncing, spurs will be full of confidence.

True although as the wildcats would say in High School Musical you have to get your head in the game and I think theirs is still in bilbao - although I think the players drinking are injured!

TheSleepingGiant · 23/05/2025 20:11

Just been watching the Tottenham parade on BBC ifollow. Jealous of those in attendance, would have been an unforgettable day and one that I'd have loved to have been at, but I'm not in a job that allows time off at short notice sadly. Will be treating DS and I to a winners shirt each though.

@CuwinsI don't think you need to worry about Brighton, they've had an impressive season and I doubt our league form will change just yet.

burblish · 23/05/2025 20:41

Anyone watching Serie A tonight? Sad for Pepe Reina to end the last match of his professional career being sent off 🤦🏽‍♀️ Inter were already 1-0 up against Como when Reina saw red, but now playing only 10 men puts even more pressure on Napoli in the other match v Cagliari. I hope Napoli can hold on for the win!

@TheSleepingGiant - I caught some of the parade on tv and it looked like a fantastic celebration!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 23/05/2025 20:51

@burblish

I was going to watch it but decided to watch the U17 match against Italy. It is a good match.

Tiswa · 23/05/2025 20:53

Scott McTominay is doing really well - Man United would have done better with him.

ChocolateGanache · 23/05/2025 22:04

COYSSSSSS!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Just home from the stadium watching the parade. Such an amazing atmosphere. Love London.
Well done lads 🙌🙌🙌

We have just been discussing is it better to get champions league and get to QF or potentially win the Europa League

@JasonTindallsTan genuinely which would you prefer? Newcastle I think could absolutely win the Europa League (as could Notts Forest and Aston Villa) but in the Champions League QF is probably the highest. Which is better?

it is very much Sophie’s Choice I think

A trophy win is remembered usually for all time.

JasonTindallsTan · 24/05/2025 09:01

It’s been the hot topic in our household also.

Realistically, if someone told me at the beginning of the season that we would win a trophy and get into the Europa league I’d have snatched their hand off.

But. Champions League and the money and cache that comes along with it will really help us take those next steps and help us not lose ground on our rivals. I genuinely think with three or four elite signings this summer we can challenge for the title next season.

I think if we miss out tomorrow I will be absolutely gutted but when the dust settles I will still be able to recognise this season for what it was - absolutely incredible! And as you say, we have a very good chance of winning the Europa League, which in itself is a route to champions league the following season. I think with EL we will still be able to keep our main players but we might not have the draw needed to get new ones, although we don’t want superstars, we want those who believe in the project and what we’re building.

But I really hope we get champions league!!

Tiswa · 24/05/2025 09:23

I think it is a much harder question now than it used to be because you aimed for Champions League and it was either the knockout rounds or Europa League.

I agree actually for Newcastle I think keeping Isak will be a given if they get Champions League football.

Notts Forest on the other hand I think Europa would suit them - but I think they could beat Chelsea.

JasonTindallsTan · 24/05/2025 09:45

I think even with just Europa League this season we’ll keep Isak. He’s under contract until 2028. Other than perhaps Liverpool I don’t think any other clubs in the league are an attractive enough proposition. I don’t think Liverpool can afford him. Real Madrid don’t need him, neither do Barca. Combine that with us having no need to sell, I don’t see him going anywhere this season. There are so few steps up right now the way we are going that it works in our favour.

Tiswa · 24/05/2025 09:53

I can’t see Liverpool going for him with Wirtz - I can more see something with Nunez/Alvarez swap with Atletico Madrid.

it is going to be an interesting summer either way!

MaybeNotBob · 24/05/2025 11:47

Definitely going to be an interesting silly season. Champions League qualification opens up access to the kind of players who can make a difference.

I'd love Isak to come to Arsenal, but I think the cost would be prohibitive. Maybe Sesko would be more realistic, or maybe someone like Mateta. I haven't been impressed by Gyokores when I've seen him.

Maybe we've got our eye on someone like Ekitike who would certainly be interesting. I doubt we'll rekindle our interest in Watkins, but it's not impossible. Of course, being Arsenal, we'll be linked with every striker interested in any move anywhere, as per usual...

JasonTindallsTan · 24/05/2025 14:40

I can’t see Isak going to Arsenal, even if they could afford him, there’s no real incentive to do so and for us to sell him to a rival would be insanity.

Hellohah · 24/05/2025 15:03

I'm still absolutely buzzing for Scott McTominay today, not just winning the Scudetto but how much they worship him over in Naples.

Hoping Sunderland can beat Sheffield United in this play off final.

MaybeNotBob · 24/05/2025 17:04

Come on Arsenal!

SlightlyJaded · 24/05/2025 17:09

Well done Sunderland. What a heart-stopper.

Look forward to playing you next season.

Yes, so happy for Sunderland. My son in law is from Sunderland.

JasonTindallsTan · 24/05/2025 17:47

Ugh. I was firmly hoping for a Sheffield win. I wish nothing but bad things for Sunderland AFC and I do not enjoy derby days at all.

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2025 18:15

Too bad Jason 😂

Well done Mackems

I think there may be lots of Geordies thinking that's six points next season in the bag already!
