Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.”

Yes, I am really pleased that GB women did not take part in the Olympics.

It is a total waste of time and it means that our main players do not get as much time to train with the rest of the squad before the season starts.

MrsMitford3 · 25/07/2024 18:49

Just wanted to post a sad one here.
Gutted about Smith Rowe leaving.
I am much sadder about this one than most.

I know my emotions are skewing my judgement but that's football but I think/wish Arteta would have played him a bit more and would have liked to see one fit season out of him before we sold him.

I think we may regret letting this one go.

He is so talented and I wish him well but am sad.
No more Saka and Emile Smith Rowe chant.

He and saka dragged us through a season where nothing went right and I hope the absolute best for him but I wish it was in an Arsenal shirt. 😥

kiterunning · 25/07/2024 19:12

Agree that football shouldn't be in the Olympics.

kiterunning · 25/07/2024 19:15

The match between Argentina and Morocco was a disgrace

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 25/07/2024 21:02

I'm with you MrsMitford3, I think it's a big mistake to let him leave.

Obviously Arteta has something against him, but I've no idea what.

As it's now a squad game, it would cost a lot of money to replace him, and I still don't think Viera is up to deputising for Ødegaard. He lingers on the ball too long, and he still seems to be to lightweight for the Premiership.

It’s awful. I can’t imagine what I’d do if my club folded.

Have you seen the pics of Arteta that are doing the rounds, if legit he’s had some serious work done to his face! Looks dreadful 😳

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/07/2024 21:28

What kind of mismanagement would have to go on to make a fairly big club like that fold?

And are they ever going to be held responsible?

DuncinToffee · 26/07/2024 22:47

I have seen a picture of Arteta and wondered if it was real Shock

Isn’t it bizarre! This thread was the first I’ve heard about it.

I then went and had a Google to see if I could find any other photos and saw the Daily Mail had reported on it. I know they’re not a great paper, but the fact they reported on it makes me think the photo is legit.

I’ve always liked him and found him really impressive, and he always looks very polished and sharp. I just can’t understand why he has changed his face so much. Of course he’s entitled to do what he wants, but he’s good looking, a multimillionaire, super-accomplished and only 42, for god’s sake! Why does he feel the need to get plastic surgery or whatever he’s done!

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/07/2024 23:24

That doesn't look real to me, but we'll have to see when he actually appears somewhere.

Can of worms being opened here now the Canadian olympic team got caught?

https://x.com/rwesthead/status/1818619758805135568

FIFA had evidence of Canada Soccer’s historical spying program soon after assistant coach Joey Lombardi was arrested by French police. Canada Soccer provided FIFA’s discipline committee with head coach Bev Priestman’s emails as it considered sanctions.

After a Canada Soccer analyst emailed Priestman four months ago to say they refused to spy on opposing teams’ closed training, Priestman emailed a human resources consultant on March 20, 2024, to ask for advice.

Priestman email: “Seeking your advice and input here regarding this formal email on spying. It’s something the analyst has always done and I know there is a whole operation on the men’s side with regards to it… it can be the difference between winning and losing and all top 10 teams do it.”

I wonder when they’ll be investigated for breaking the Premier League spending rules?

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 31/07/2024 18:55

I don't know how they'll manage to cope with fines like that...

burblish · 31/07/2024 21:39

That's not even a slap on the wrist - it's more like a friendly tickle.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 31/07/2024 22:05

I see Shteve McLaren is taking over as the coach of Jamaica. I look forward to his new accent...

Well he won't have much need for his brolly....

Looks like the Bradley Dack to Gillingham deal has fallen through Sad my planned dream team name was dependent on his signature!

Sunderland fan here, tickets have just arrived for Cardiff, first match of the season, away from home, 12.30 kick off. Cheers Sky.

Still haven't signed a striker but there's hope yet.

Of course, it's the hope that kills you...

Aw I’m sorry! :( Do you mind telling us what your team name was? I’m keen to know haha. The current options I’m imagining are: Dack to the future, Love dack-tually, Dack in business, Dack for good etc etc 😂

cheesychipsontheoche · 03/08/2024 00:21

I'll just say, as we had Bradley Dack last season, he is lovely. Absolutely charmed my 8year old who had limited interest in football until she met Bradders. She's very sad he left

Finally got around to me joining the FPL league again. Any objections to DH joining in again this time?

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 02/08/2024 23:42

So sad. I get upset every time I hear Rocking All Over the World on the radio.

I think he will do so well at Fulham. Just like Willian.

The more the merrier in my opinion.
