Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.”

Try watching a team with no goal threat and a dinosaur manager.....

Yes, I feel bad moaning about a draw.

Andy Bush is calling for Dyche to be sacked.

Don't feel bad about moaning, I just wish I could do the same Smile

I was reading in a newspaper that apparently Eddie Howe is a nasty guy but he tries to hide it and lets Tindall get the flack for you being "strong".

Edited

🤣🤣🤣 course you did.

Why on earth would I lie about that????

I think he wants to make you the Millwall of the PL.

This is what he said and this is the link

And it is worth finishing with this. Howe has a steely side, a nasty streak, but he keeps it largely hidden from public view. Instead it is Tindall who embodies his manager’s mantra of what he wants his teams to be.

Hellohah · 05/01/2025 18:35

I'd have very happily taken a draw before kick off thinking not a chance in hell we'd get anything but a battering at Anfield, but having watched that I now feel so disappointed with just a point, deserved to win that.

But finally we showed a bit of fight and spirit.

Unbeaten in 2025 😂

I mean not quite what you said.

You don’t like Eddie Howe and Newcastle. I get it.

None of that is surprising but there is absolutely nothing to suggest that Eddie Howe is a ‘Nasty guy’. Has a mean streak/a steel core? Sure, to be a successful premier league manager you’ve got to have a bit of toughness and the ability to make difficult decisions and make yourself potentially unpopular in the process. The idea though that Jason Tindall is some kind of patsy for Eddie Howe’s hidden personality traits is hilarious. Tindall is a wind up merchant and a deadly unserious guy, unlikeable to the opposition, sure, but where’s the harm in that? A lot of managers are deeply unlikeable to the opposition. Very few managerial staff are universally liked. Bobby Robson maybe the only one I can think of across the years but I guarantee that even he will have had a ‘nasty streak’ in the dressing room. You don’t get to the top of your game without it.

Millwall of the premier league, what does that even mean? 😂 If you’re attempting to suggest that we are the only team in the league who commits fouls etc then do me a favour.

TheSleepingGiant · 05/01/2025 19:35

Not read the above article but Millwall are reportedly the most hated English club, however I was of the understanding that was down to their fan base rather than team?!

Here we go again 🙄....... Gillingham have sacked Mark Bonner and bought in Jon Coleman till the end of the season. 4th Manager in just 2 years! At least they had the sense not to appoint Rooney 😂

burblish · 05/01/2025 19:36

@Hellohah - where was bloody Casemiro when Liverpool needed him?! 🤣

Hope the Gills get an upturn in fortune with a new manager. I’m not sure Rooney will manage again tbh. He’s not exactly got off to a stellar start.

TheSleepingGiant · 05/01/2025 19:55

Thank you @JasonTindallsTan tbf we have a good squad for L2 but getting them to click for decent performances is proving illusive. Agree re. Rooney, too much to soon I think.

EboueEboue · 06/01/2025 21:59

I hate Eddie Howe.

He brought on Longstaff for 4 minutes, so he gets 1 point in my dream team, whereas Wissa on my bench would have got me 11...

Christ even I wouldn’t pick Longstaff for my FPL 😂

Yes, I really don't like Eddie Howe now I know what he is really like (and I would say the same about Arteta if he was like that), but actually, my husband's mother was born in Whitley Bay and NC was always his second team. He always said that they had the best fans and is so sad that he can't support them any more.

Well, here is another article in the Telegraph (they seem to be obsessed with NC being nasty).

The author says the following re Millwall:

We are not quite at Millwall standards yet, but Newcastle are bruising egos, winding up opposition managers and supporters and generally getting under the skin of everyone they face.

JasonTindallsTan · 07/01/2025 15:03

In reality you know no more about what ‘Eddie Howe is really like’ than any other football fan. Unless you work with him, or otherwise know him personally you know whatever varying media articles - of which there will always be many to back up whichever perspective you wish to take - will tell you, which if you could consider it for one unbiased second you might come to the conclusion is very little.

You dislike him, you dislike Newcastle. Great. Can we move on?

Well, there is no smoke without fire and I assume that the Telegraph journalists are fans of other PL teams who are hoping that mud sticks (just like they did about us wasting time, which was so wrong of Arteta and I am pleased that the referees have come down hard on us).

I don't like EH and I don't like the way that he is encouraging your team to play. But if you are happy with it, then fine.

JasonTindallsTan · 07/01/2025 15:15

Yep over the moon with it thanks.

kiterunning · 07/01/2025 21:10

Wow! Newcastle!

JasonTindallsTan · 07/01/2025 21:58

🤭🤭🤭🤭

Cuwins · 08/01/2025 14:27

I clearly missed the fact Arsenal were playing with a different ball to everyone else last night- how unfair to give them the ball that flies around so much and not the opposition.

Tarkan · 08/01/2025 15:16

And it's goodbye to Julen Lopetegui from West Ham. They've apparently been in talks with Graham Potter.

EboueEboue · 08/01/2025 18:41

We were dreadful last night. I'd said before the game that I'd rather we play the reserves and youth, but actually they might have been better.

Having said that, we should have been 2-0 in the first half, but hideous finishing from Timber and Martinelli put paid to that. And Toon's counter attacking game saw to the rest.

A few nasty tackles as per usual, and he had to hook Gordon off before he got himself sent off...

I hope Bentancur is ok. That looked absolutely horrible.

Just what I was coming here to say. Looked really bad and no matter what team you are you don't want to see a player go down like that.

JasonTindallsTan · 08/01/2025 20:44

Couldn’t agree more, made me feel sick seeing him go down like that.
