Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.”

Happy New Year! Hope 2025 is good to you all ⚽💛

EboueEboue · 01/01/2025 21:50

Good win there, shame we had to go 1 down to start playing.

Some nasty challenges completely ignored, Jesus with a bloodied mouth and ripped shirt, pretty much ignored. I don't doubt there would have been more cards had it happened the other way round...

Brefugee · 02/01/2025 17:15

🎶Sheffield Wednesday olé, Sheffield Wednesday olé, Sheffield Wednesday olé🎶

JasonTindallsTan · 04/01/2025 16:10

Happy with that result like. Spurs were better in the second half so pleased to hang on. Cheering palace on to beat Chelsea now.

burblish · 04/01/2025 17:28

Oh, Southampton...I really don't enjoy seeing them taking yet another walloping. It's so demoralising for the players and supporters alike.

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2025 18:38

Try watching a team with no goal threat and a dinosaur manager.....

Cheating Brighton scum.

EboueEboue · 04/01/2025 19:01

The ref has basically said that they can assault us as much as they like.

TheSleepingGiant · 04/01/2025 19:24

Feel a bit robbed of a point from today, unless I'm misunderstanding the rules any sort of handball in the build up to a goal should mean its disallowed? Or is not if it comes off anyone other than the scorer? Despite the result young Austin did himself proud in goal today.

Awful refereeing in the Dons/Gillingham game Monday evening. Their one and only goal came off the arm of the scorer - goal stood despite the lino having a perfect view. Their goalie then handled outside the box on the 85th minute - no red. Was not our day Sad

EboueEboue · 04/01/2025 20:11

Bugger, looks like Nwaneri out now.

Yep you’re mistaken, the rules changed for this season so that basically an unintentional handball in the buildup to a goal is fine so long as it is not on the goal scorer. So our goal last week against Villa by Bruno was disallowed because it came off his hand albeit completely unintentionally, but this one stood as Joelinton was not the goalscorer. I’m neutral as to whether it is the way it SHOULD be, but it is the current rule so in that sense it is right and the goal was correctly allowed to stand.

TheSleepingGiant · 04/01/2025 21:14

@JasonTindallsTan Thanks for clarifying, I did have a quick Google search after posting. A lot of talking points in the game tbf, certainly wasn't boring.

JasonTindallsTan · 04/01/2025 21:24

Yep it was an entertaining watch and I was pleased to get the points. Tougher game coming up on Tuesday where, with all due respect to the Arsenal bunch on here, I hope we clatter them. Unlikely though with missing Bruno and Schar. Otherwise just need to keep the deficit to one where we’re still in it for the home leg.

EboueEboue · 04/01/2025 21:40

I hope we clatter them

That's the problem. That's what Brighton were doing all game. Not playing football, just clattering players because they were allowed to get away with it.

JasonTindallsTan · 04/01/2025 21:48

We got a broken nose and a flying kick to the face today and got nowt for either. Sometimes you have to just suck it up.

EboueEboue · 04/01/2025 21:57

Doesn't make it right.

EboueEboue · 04/01/2025 21:59

Particularly as that's exactly the way you've played against us recently...

JasonTindallsTan · 04/01/2025 22:06

Oh come on. Arsenal play the game as well. Unfortunately those red tinted glasses seem to make it very difficult to see.

EboueEboue · 04/01/2025 22:12

If you say so...

JasonTindallsTan · 04/01/2025 22:13

😂😂👍🏻

EboueEboue · 04/01/2025 22:49

Just seen Kulusevski on Gordon. Ridiculous. And not unlike Estupinan on Rice.

Somehow both were considered perfectly fine.

And yet we all know that that penalty wouldn't have been given against any other team...

Me too!! But it could’ve been a much worse result and I feel so proud of the team - especially Austin and Solanke. Spurs really played a blinder when they signed him. I wonder if he’ll get called back to the England squad too? I spotted Thomas Tuchel was watching the game and I feel like Solanke has proved himself worthy to be considered for the squad.

I do feel for you as well.

Although GL on MOTD did annoy me a bit, saying how much he loved Everton without giving any credit to how far Bournemouth have come.

Agree about Solanke, he was excellent at Bournemouth and he is just getting better.

I was reading in a newspaper that apparently Eddie Howe is a nasty guy but he tries to hide it and lets Tindall get the flack for you being "strong".
