Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.”

the PL is going to have more money to splash around and suck more talent away from all the other leagues, and inflate prices beyond anything the other leagues can keep up with?

Certain clubs in the PL are going to have more money to splash around...

kiterunning · 10/10/2024 21:45

Terrible performance by England. Defence were all over the place. Pickford had a nightmare.
Greece thoroughly deserved to win.

DuncinToffee · 10/10/2024 21:56

Pickford looked off his game but his defence had the nightmare.

It wasn't good.

Saka injured. Jeffing typical...

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 10/10/2024 22:03

I bet Southgate is happy, but I would rather we played like we did today than like we did under Southgate.

Hopefully, they will get better. They haven't had long to play together.

Yes, at least he was walking.

kiterunning · 10/10/2024 22:14

Credit to Carsley for trying this lineup- I was excited to see how they blended but it's early days.

Tarkan · 11/10/2024 00:35

Looks like any of our matches in this are going to have to be at home. I don't know any local pubs that'll be fucking around finding a YouTube channel.

Scotland Nations League matches only available on YouTube www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0m0jjw997vo

Tarkan · 11/10/2024 00:51

Watched at home I meant. 🙈

DuncinToffee · 13/10/2024 09:44

This is lovely

The Dutch National Team visited sick children in a hospital, Noah Ohio visited a child who’s favorite player is Jude Bellingham. Noah Ohio knows Jude Bellingham from when they were teammates and decided to try and call Jude Bellingham, who picked up..

So sweet.

The Bellingham parents have done a great job with Jude and Jobe, both are lovely lads

Thomas Tuchel is the new England manager

OP posts:
stuckdownahole · 15/10/2024 19:22

Tuchel is good but he's like Mourinho, he never lasts long anywhere before falling out with his employer.

He whinges far too much about referees (has the kind of negative personality that is euphemistically described as "intense") which I don't like to see from the national team manager. Fair play and accepting that referees, like players, are trying their best but occasionally make mistakes, is an important message and the England team is a vehicle for delivering that.

DuncinToffee · 15/10/2024 19:54

But will he sing the national anthem WinkGrin

I'm guessing Van Nistelrooy's arrival at Man Utd meant Tuchel figured he may as well have a stint as England boss while he waits for the Old Trafford gig to become available again down the road!

Regardless of whether Tuchel is really suited to the England post, there is no denying he is a prestige appointment - thank goodness our international stock has risen enough in recent years (nice one, Southgate) that we are spared the bottom-of-the-barrel likes of Big Sam!

I liked the reply "he's changing his name to Thomas Windsor"

EboueEboue · 16/10/2024 13:11

Not Thomas Saxe Coburg de Gotha then...

MrsMitford3 · 17/10/2024 20:03

@EboueEboue do you follow Arsenal Gentleman on twitter?

He gives all the various foreign Arsenal players brilliant terribly old fashioned British names-

Raheem Stirling is Roger "Twirling" Sterling, Mikel Merino becomes Micheal Merryweather etc (it's funnier when he does it)

Very clever

EboueEboue · 17/10/2024 20:12

I do indeed!

They have, haven’t they! Both Jude and Jobe seem really kind and really well brought up. A credit to their mum and dad.
