Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.”

Oh, yes, thanks. I now remember that happening a few years ago as well.

Brefugee · 27/09/2024 07:59

i see the Steel City Derby has been a talking point. IMO there should be no games on Remembrance Sunday, but certainly not at 12. So (whoever makes the fixture list? Sky?) have pushed the kick off back from 12 to... 12:30.

I am really cross about that.

JasonTindallsTan · 27/09/2024 16:06

More upheaval off the NUFC pitch as CEO Darren Eales steps down after being diagnosed with chronic blood cancer. Right decision for him and I hope he gets better soon.

The Premier League has delayed the introduction of semi-automated offside technology to 2025!

They are not yet confident the technology is fully reliable and won't use it live until it is

🤔it worked for the World Cup, the Euros and the Champions League.......

Ah, more chances for them to make bad VAR decisions...

JasonTindallsTan · 28/09/2024 15:36

You’re welcome Arsenal 😉

EboueEboue · 28/09/2024 17:09

Thank you for that. I thought we were going to squander it for a minute there...

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2024 17:39

WE WON!!!!!!!!

from going behind at Goodison Park, curse lifted? UTFT💙

Yes, I got a headache watching that. Califiori was lucky not to complete our hat-trick of red cards.

So pleased that Nwaneri decided to stay with us and was not tempted away by money last year like Obi.

And yes thank you very much @JasonTindallsTan . We just need Wolves to do us a favour now.

Brefugee · 28/09/2024 18:14

Sheffield Wednesday won! so happy about that.

Gladbach played Union Berlin today. Both teams were dire, but the Borussia park exploded when we scored in the 97th minute. all the people who had left and heard the roar from the car-park can get in the sea.

Boro won too. So we're all happy over here chez bref, dozing i front of Bayern München vs Bayer Leverkusen

TheSleepingGiant · 28/09/2024 18:33

Everyone's team won/drew today on here it seems Smile Gillingham also came away 2-0 winners in the Steve Clemence derby! Another clean sheet and we go top of the league! Can't wait for Tuesday nights game against Grimsby. Something special about watching a match under the flood lights.

Brighton didn't unfortunately but that was very much expected

TheSleepingGiant · 28/09/2024 19:02

Ahh sorry @Cuwins Tottenham still yet to play so I may not have it all my own way this weekend.

Brefugee · 28/09/2024 19:53

just saw that one of the WBA away fans died in the stadium during the match today at Hillsbrough.
Devastating

Hellohah · 29/09/2024 14:19

I'm hoping you don't get it your own way @TheSleepingGiant as we need a win.

Yes it's been a poor start for us both so far. Enjoy the match and may the best team win Grin

Yes, that was special.

Congrats @TheSleepingGiant was a lot of fun for you yesterday, not so good for me. And I had to walk back to the car in the rain after such embarrassing performance. Tried to cheer myself up with a pizza for tea when we got home, it didn't work 😭
We're in turmoil (again, or just a never ending turmoil 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Sorry @Hellohah :( I honestly have no idea how Ten Hag is still in the job! I did understand why they kept him after they won the FA cup last year, but even so! Sorry about yesterday.

Thanks @Acapulco12 ... I knew it was going to be a long season so was sort of prepared. But first half at Palace gave some weird hope and we off course battered the mighty Barnsley the week before. It's the hope that gets you 😂
Football, you've got to take the rough with the smooth but by heck, it's hard at the minute. We're just in no mans land and at the moment I don't see a way out or what we can do for the best. It's a mess, a bloody mess!

Brefugee · 30/09/2024 19:17

i am RIDICULOUSLY excited because i am going to watch Wednesday in the stadium in 2 weeks. Any Burnley fans here, so we can do the trash talk?

Last time i was there, was about 1981 with my grandad. I can't even remember who we played.

TheSleepingGiant · 30/09/2024 19:33

@Hellohah Thank you, I did enjoy our performance but as a long-suffering Spurs fan I can share in your despair. It's easier for me in a way because no-one expects anything of Spurs so although the hope is there the expectations aren't. With Man United fans, and others, there is always that expectation that they will be in Champions League/challenging for the title every season. I'm not one for calling for managers heads, however this is Ten-Hags 3rd season and nothing is changing despite big money being spent. The players just don't seem to want to play for him. Still, early days and there is still plenty of time to salvage the season (and start enjoying your pizza's again)!

Wow a long over-due visit. Enjoy and I hope the result goes Wednesday's way.

EboueEboue · 02/10/2024 13:17

A nice undramatic win there. Nicely controlled.

Sensibly refereed, few cards, no controversial decisions. If only we could have some of that in the Prem...
