I don't blame them after those last few minutes to be honest! I'd be off to the pub for a drink instead.

MrsMitford3 · 11/02/2024 15:02

Arsenal were 4-0 down against Reading in a Cup game-DH and DS's there.

They were glad they stayed-arsenal won 7-5 (I think that was the final score)

It's never over til it's over and Arteta celebrates

Tarkan · 11/02/2024 15:28

I think that's it over now tbh. More and more people leaving with every goal.

MrsMitford3 · 11/02/2024 15:39

yeah but don't want celebration police having a go.

So I'll wait it out...

Tarkan · 11/02/2024 16:00

All the West Ham groups are full of "Moyes out" calls again. I don't blame them this week after that result. Going to watch the end of the rugby now then I might watch Villa v Man U after that.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 11/02/2024 16:00

I think we might win this one now...

DuncinToffee · 11/02/2024 16:20

Just saw the score, quietly down the tunnel you go Gunners and no fist pumps!

Think Declan Rice was very classy-

booed throughout and didn't celebrate his goal.
Although to be fair he did get a bit of applause when he went off.

I hate booing full stop. Booing my team-other teams, individual players having a bad game-how will booing help? surely they know they are playing badly. Just think there is no need. But I do like a rude song...

AndNobbyDancing · 11/02/2024 19:30

Grealish on the bench cost more than our starting 11

Hence why I'm still struggling to gain any real desire to watch. Another weekend with no football watched.

Watched the six nations but rugby has the same issues just on a smaller scale.

MrsMitford3 · 11/02/2024 21:12

@AndNobbyDancing saw that a lot on twitter. Absolute piss take off the rules and any semblance of fairness.

Shocking IMHO. Makes a mockery of the whole FFP.

I am rooting for you!!!

I've never got on with booing (either team, unless they're doing a time-wasting thing or faking injury to get another player sent off or carded etc) And I'm fighting a losing battle to get the Germans who sit near me to sing "we know where your car is" (i was doing a LOT of that yesterday - one thing i can't abide is inconsistent refereeing)

But i was in St Pancras today, and saw a load of Arsenal fans with faces like slapped arses. I wondered how many they lost by - and when i saw the result i couldn't believe they weren't all singing and dancing.

As for leaving early. We used to park in the car park right near the "kop" entrance at Gladbach. It would regularly take an hour to even be able to back out of our spot, let alone get out and drive the 20 minutes home.

we played (Austrian) Wolfsburger AC in the Europa League/Cup whatever it's called a few years ago and we were dire (lost 0-6) and by the 65th minute there were barely any spectators left. We stayed because we always do. And it took us precicely 1 minute to get out of the car park and onto the Autobahn. Dire.

@Brefugee maybe they were at the Arsenal women's game? They lost.

Ridiculous to have them both play on the same day!!! And the games overlapped.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 12/02/2024 19:37

Stultifyingly stupid.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 12/02/2024 20:25

But going back to the game, I see all the plaudits going to Saka and Rice, but just how **ing good was Ødegaard yesterday?

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 12/02/2024 20:27

107 passes, 7 chances created, 2 assists.

MrsMitford3 · 12/02/2024 20:40

@YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue I think initially Saka/Rice getting a lot of the glory but i have seen a lot today about Ødegaard's stats and performance-he was superb.

Yes, it was annoying not being able to watch the end of the women's game.

Lets's hope we can beat Burnley on Saturday. I assume that they will park the bus, so it will be difficult.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 13/02/2024 20:13

This looks like it's going to be a bit of a mullering...

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 13/02/2024 20:34

OK, wasn't expecting that!

DuncinToffee · 15/02/2024 19:43

Another nail to the coffin of football is for the fans

The @FA and @tntsports have agreed a new four-year broadcast deal for the #EmiratesFACup, starting from the 2025-26 season.

MrsMitford3 · 15/02/2024 20:22

ugh. it is disappointing but not surprising.

I admit we have TNT because we have a ridiculous sports package but I still think it's awful.

It is becoming more and more financial and much less fun.

what do you think of not televising the 3pm saturday games?
I think the streaming etc make a mockery of it.
I have American friends who watch it.
I understand why they were originally not shown but not convinced it still should be.
People who have the means get round it...

I'm not convinced all the Slough United fans would stay home to watch Burnley V Crystal Palace-nothing like being there!!

*apologies to Burnley and Palace fans-random example

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 16/02/2024 09:30

The picture quality of the TNT coverage is very variable for me so I hate watchign it. Such a shame that the FA Cup will be on there.

Yes, lots of people watch the 3pm matches illegally, but I don't know how they do it.

It is ridiculous that the whole world can watch them legally but not us and for most people going to a football match is a social thing (I think a lot of men use it as an excuse to get away from their wives!), so I don't think that people would stop going out, although they might just go to the pub instead to watch the PL.

But the fact that people are watching illegally makes a mockery of it.

MrsMitford3 · 16/02/2024 17:18

@MustTryHarderAndHarder I agree-it is a mockery.

I have family in America who are very pleased to message me to tell me they are watching the Arsenal when I can't.

I think it's one of those things that still happens because of inertia to change it but the reasons are so long ago they are no longer relevant -I'm surprised some TV company hasn't tried to show those matches!

Well, the PL does discuss it regularly and they are broadcasting more and more matches (all the 2pm matches are going to be show in a season or so's time), so the 3pm blackout is gradually disappearing by stealth.

But we are lucky as very few Arsenal matches aren't on the tv at the moment so I can't really complain (but I do!)
