Magnificent from Ødegaard - more of that please!

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 12/03/2024 22:00

What a fucking ridiculous referee...

LeatherTuscadero · 12/03/2024 22:40

Penalties. I'm not optimistic

domineastronomy · 12/03/2024 22:55

Yesss well done Arsenal!

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 12/03/2024 23:05

Rio's such a misery...

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 12/03/2024 23:20

Anyway. I don't think we should worry too much about our next opponents, because they will want to play football, unlike Porto who played anti-football. We can probably worry about the refs, but that's the usual situation, unfortunately...

Brefugee · 13/03/2024 07:13

So thoroughly pissed off with supporting rubbish teams. Wednesday - I'm used to it. But Gladbach have gone from regular contenders for the CL spots to a team looking as though they actively want relegation and have been kicked out of the cup by a 3rd division team (to be fair, they beat Bayern and Frankfurt before they beat us).

Gah.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 14/03/2024 09:52

So sad for Luton.

MrsMitford3 · 14/03/2024 10:26

@MustTryHarderAndHarder I have a soft spot for Luton too. Would love to see them stay up...looking unlikely but I can but hope!

Yes, my husband used to live near Luton and so used to go to watch them with his kids many years ago.

I can't see them staying up either, but hopefully they will be back up quickly if they do.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 15/03/2024 11:19

Of course we get Bayern...

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 15/03/2024 11:42

Ooh, this could be handy though.

"UEFA have issued Bayern supporters with a ban from attending the away leg of their last-eight tie after fans threw fireworks onto the pitch during their 3-1 win at Lazio earlier this month."

Why Arsenal have big advantage after drawing Bayern in last-eight

The first leg of the quarter-final tie will be held at the Emirates

Of course we get Bayern...

who are not fantastic this season. (Kane is on fire tho)

MrsMitford3 · 16/03/2024 12:08

We def have the tougher side of the draw...

Oblomov24 · 16/03/2024 19:28

Spurs loss to Fulham was so poor, they were so much better than us.

Spursy will never die will it 😂chance to go 4th (for a while at least) and they don't show up. Need a favour from the Hammers now.

Not a great match at Priestfield yesterday either, after a midweek loss to the Dons we scrape a draw against Grimsby. Outside the play-off places now Sad

Brefugee · 17/03/2024 10:17

Gladbach dire again. 1-1 and the away fans stayed silent to protest and booed them when they came over before the match.
That is how bad it is for Gladbach. We knew going into this season it was going to be tough having lost a lot of players over summer, so building up a new squad. The ultras promised to give their all, and up to now they have. Will be interesting at our first home game after the break.

DuncinToffee · 17/03/2024 10:46

I watched the highlights of Wolves v Coventry, what a match and well done Ellis Simms., a talent we couldn't afford to keep.

Westfacing · 17/03/2024 13:11

Chelsea v. Leicester - am I the only person finding the similar colour strips a bit confusing?

Ooh, a penalty!

Brefugee · 17/03/2024 13:19

Was just coming to say that. It is completely daft.
Nice to see Vestergaard again (I liked him at Gladbach, I'd completely forgotten he was at Leicester). He's odd though - he is totally useless at offensive headers (so no point trying to use his height for a corner) but defensive, he's great.

Tarkan · 17/03/2024 13:49

We watched Wolves v Coventry yesterday and it was an amazing match. I don't know if I've ever been that excited watching a match as a neutral.

Arbroath were utterly humped by Airdrie yesterday so I think that's us guaranteed to be going down now. We're 8 points behind Caley Thistle and I just can't see us making that up. We have a horrendous -34 goal difference too.

Airdrie have one of the coolest sounding stadiums though - the Excelsior Stadium.

MrsMitford3 · 17/03/2024 15:11

I find the phrase "as a neutral" so interesting. Are ppl really neutral?

I don't have a neutral bone in my body-I always care. which can be exhausting.
First thing is how the results impact Arsenal.

Then- is there a historical rivalry?

Are there any players I like or dislike?

Any friends fans of either team? So sympathy support.

Would like to see Luton stay up so support them (unless we are playing them)

Within minutes of watching I have picked a team to side with and cheer for them with the enthusiasm of a long time supporter-and dislike the other team with equal vigour not something I am proud of but I just can't be neutral
😂

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 17/03/2024 17:44

I get that Mrs Mitford. There are teams I never want to see win no matter the opponent, (Man U, Chelsea, Sunderland) so I will automatically root for the opposition. If the result impacts Newcastle then I will root for whoever suits us best. If I have players in my FPL then that can have a big impact on who I support as well.

In games like Wolves v Cov in the cup then I will invariably root for the underdog and will support that team as if I grew up wearing their colours 🤣

But i do get the ‘as a neutral’ thing because for all of those things, those results don’t affect my mood in the way a Newcastle result will, so if it’s end to end stuff then I can appreciate it for the spectacle it is (whilst almost always having a preferred team to win).

Hellohah · 17/03/2024 21:45

Absolutely made up with the result today, but more importantly Old Trafford was rocking in a way it hasn't been for a while.

Days like this make the season worthwhile. Everyone knows we've been awful, but today was a little bit special.

Who knew the way to win was total football, Harry Maguire upfront, Bruno as a makeshift CB, just throw everything including the kitchen sink at the game! Thank goodness for international break, we've got 2 weeks of seeming invincible before it no doubt all goes to shit again 😂

Westfacing · 18/03/2024 07:15

Boo hoo at yesterday's Liverpool result, but a great match!
