Darts World Championships 2024

Well it's that time of the year again, the Darts World Championships kick off tomorrow.

Any thoughts on this year? The bookies seemed to be keen on Gary Anderson but odds have dropped (?) to 14/1 now, it wouldn't surprise me if Luke Humphries wins but I dare say I find him quite boring. I had been rooting for Smith the last couple of years and was so glad he won last year!

I know these threads don't normally get busy until closer to Christmas, and I won't actually be watching tomorrow but it's here for anyone wanting to chat!

I can't remember who normally partakes other than I think @JaneJeffer ?

I went to Ally Pally yesterday and the number of foreign fans there was huge. I’d estimate about half the crowd were German, Dutch, Belgian or Swiss.

Humphries was right to say that the German backing for pikachu was more vocal than the support he received however that isn’t really the issue

The problem is that German darts fans have a very different way of supporting. They see no issue with booing opposing players and trying to put them off. I’ve been to a couple of Euro Tour events in Germany and the crowds were a disgrace. They have no respect for the sport. You just don’t get this type of issue in other countries.

”Boring, boring tables”

The people in the tiered seats sing it to the people sitting at the tables if they’re not singing.

It gets very repetitive if you’re a regular attendee as do most of the songs. The never seem to change!
