Darts World Championships 2024

Well it's that time of the year again, the Darts World Championships kick off tomorrow.

Any thoughts on this year? The bookies seemed to be keen on Gary Anderson but odds have dropped (?) to 14/1 now, it wouldn't surprise me if Luke Humphries wins but I dare say I find him quite boring. I had been rooting for Smith the last couple of years and was so glad he won last year!

I know these threads don't normally get busy until closer to Christmas, and I won't actually be watching tomorrow but it's here for anyone wanting to chat!

I can't remember who normally partakes other than I think @JaneJeffer ?

I can't believe Wade is out and I didn't even get to see him

Baby Shark vs Pokémon 😂

ICANTSPEYK · 19/12/2023 21:05

Had to make sure I had the right channel on! That's baby shark in my head for the rest of the bloody week

Wade is so frustrating to watch. Should have had that sewn up.

Checking in, I watched the Friday session but have been out most of the time since and just been watching SPOTY. Shame about Wade, for a long time I didn’t like him but he has grown on me in recent years.

Charlie2121 · 19/12/2023 21:16

Do any of you ever go to Ally Pally?

It is a fantastic day out and well worth the effort.

ExpensiveDecorations · 19/12/2023 21:24

We went last year and will certainly go again sometime (not this year though). It’s not easy to get to for us though.

ICANTSPEYK · 19/12/2023 21:28

Yep same for us, we went for the first time last year and loved it but we are NW so realistically a 2 night stay makes more sense which can be hard to fit in at this time of year never mind the cost! We have agreed we would like to try and do it every 3rd year maybe.
As we are in the NW the world matchplay is easy to get to so we do that every year instead.

We are SE and it isn’t actually that far as the crow flies but wrong side of London, trains don’t connect well, we had to drive last year because of train strikes and it’s not a fun journey. I used to live near Wembley and was happy driving round there 30 years ago but in the rush hour (we went to an afternoon session), dark and rain and speed cameras all over the place it’s not so easy now.

I haven't been to Ally Pally but we normally go for at least one Minehead weekend of darts. It's on my bucket list

Minehead is my favourite. I like being able to see the whole tournament over a weekend.

An evening in Reds is hard to beat!

ICANTSPEYK · 19/12/2023 21:57

Ahh yes I'd love to do Minehead one day too.

Love going to Ally Pally, premier league is alright for a night out as well although they mess with the format so much. Least you know you're seeing all the top players though

ICANTSPEYK · 20/12/2023 21:09

Is anyone watching Littler? It's a match I've been looking forward to as I know he is tipped to do well, I can't believe he is only 16.

Great first set.

Absolutely brilliant darts from Luke Littler, I can definitely see why people think he will go far now! No leg longer than 15 darts and an average of 106!

I'm looking forward to seeing what Wright is wearing Grin

He's amazing - we watched him in the Modus on YouTube and he's so good (although not completely infallible 😂) if he doesn't do it this year I don't think it'll be too long. I'm glad he's old enough to have a tour card now

ICANTSPEYK · 20/12/2023 21:53

Yeah I'm a bit late to the party DP has been telling me for ages that I need to give him a watch Grin. He actually has a couple of quid on him to win, I don't think it will be this year but like you say I think it's in the not too distant future.

Another thing I'm really enjoying this year is Durrant in the commentary box.

LoveTheDarts · 20/12/2023 22:15

Yes! Duzza is really good. He's had so many problems after covid Its brilliant he can still be part of it.

LoveTheDarts · 20/12/2023 22:19

Snakebite's having a nightmare!

ICANTSPEYK · 20/12/2023 22:27

Not going well at all

I love his voice 😍

ICANTSPEYK · 21/12/2023 19:20

Yes his voice is lovely and great for commentating I think!

Looking forward to seeing how Littler does tonight, I think he will win this but will start to come unstuck at some point.

Crowd singing "you've got school in the morning" to Littler 😂

ICANTSPEYK · 21/12/2023 19:28

Ha yes I heard that last night too so funny Grin
