Why are the England team called the lionesses when the men's team aren't called the lions?

Men's Team are known as the Lions. 3 lions on the shirt.

And the under 21 team is called young lions

Under 19's and younger should be called the Cubs.

Never ever heard of them called the lions but every single time the women are mentioned it's the lionesses.

They all wear Lions on their shirts, but it seems to be used more when talking about the women's team, maybe that's because they have won more recently?

The booing is getting tedious, especially in a neutral country. Also the ref needs to stop the Colombian players manhandling us!
