We are all Arsenal supporters, but one of our grandsons decided a couple of years ago when he was 6 years old that he wanted to be a Chelsea supporter like his great uncle from this grandmother's side. I wonder if he is now regretting his decision.

Tarkan · 13/04/2023 13:37

I just hope the clubs with gambling sponsors don't struggle to get a decent income from other sponsors. Some of the West Ham fan groups I'm in were posting articles saying the betting companies tend to pay more so the teams could lose out on a good bit of income.

That's the only bad side to this though, I definitely welcome the news. Can't remember which match it was that DH and I were watching the other day and we managed to spot at least half a dozen different gambling adverts as sponsors and pitchside adverts. It was ridiculous.

Europa Conference game for us tonight against Gent. First leg of the quarter finals so everything is crossed here.

Tarkan · 13/04/2023 19:50

An interesting first leg there. I thought that last VAR check might have given us a penalty but ended up with Gent's straight red rescinded and just a yellow instead. The second leg will be a tense one if both teams play like that again.

WhiteHartLane · 13/04/2023 22:24

The Man Utd v Seville game was an entertaining one. Got to feel bad for Maguire, ball came off him at full pelt nothing he could've done. Arrogant subs by ETH, Sevilla are heavyweight in this competition.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 15/04/2023 11:47

Yes, strange, but doesn't surprise me. Don't think they have a clue.

AndNobbyDancing · 15/04/2023 14:24

Eddie what happened??

Oblomov23 · 15/04/2023 16:01

Watching spurs v Bournemouth now. Have enjoyed a lot of good games recently.

AndNobbyDancing · 15/04/2023 17:19

What a result for Bournemouth, very jealous you were there @Oblomov23

Saints are beyond redemption, and whilst I don't want anyone to go down, Chelsea wouldn't hurt so much. Well done to Brighton today.

Oblomov23 · 15/04/2023 17:49

No sorry Nobby. Not there. Just in my lounge. Sad

WhiteHartLane · 15/04/2023 17:49

Gillingham move up to 18th, 9 points off the bottom with just 4 games to go. Nearly 100% safe from the dreaded drop into the national league. Another point gained today.
Tottenham I love you but fuck off 🙄

Least you watch it, I'm not bright enough to get 3pm games at home. Sounds like it was exciting, well if you weren't a Spurs fan.

WhiteHartLane · 15/04/2023 19:31

Just seen FGR have been relegated after only 1 season in League 1 Sad. Their home kit is one of my favourites.

AndNobbyDancing · 15/04/2023 21:35

I think first year of promotion teams should get 6 points

Eddie what happened??

Your guess is as good as mine. We just weren’t at the races today. We really missed Longstaff in the middle giving us some shape but there wasn’t a stand out player amongst us. Just have to give Spurs a hiding next week at SJP…

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 16/04/2023 16:05

Intresting to think that even though Chelsea have both City and Arsenal to play we won't have any say in the title race.. unless something goes a bit bonkers

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 16/04/2023 20:49

Well, at least we didn't lose against West Ham.

At least we started well but we got rattled and were lucky not to lose.

We just need to win every game now.

Whatever happens, it has been a dream season for us.

Tarkan · 16/04/2023 21:10

I honestly though you were going to thrash us in that one tbh @MustTryHarderAndHarder

Certainly in the first 10 minutes it looked just like I expected and it was like that penalty for us was a switch for both teams. I was waiting for a last minute goal though as that's usually what seems to happen against us although I was hopeful for us at a good few times too. The point is much needed for us with how tight the bottom of the table is, it was an exciting match to watch though, definitely not what I was expecting to see.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 17/04/2023 09:24

@Tarkan

Yes, well done to you. You exploited our weaknesses. I don't want you to go down. You could easily have won, so I think we should be grateful for the point.

Our whole team has worked so hard all season and we just weren't good enough yesterday.

WhiteHartLane · 18/04/2023 23:00

We are staying up say we are staying up! 2-0 winners against the O's (who go up to League one due to other results going their way). GTFIYMG's ⚽

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 19/04/2023 10:13

@WhiteHartLane Great news!

BitOutOfPractice · 19/04/2023 11:14

Congratulations @WhiteHartLane !

aibutohavethisusername · 19/04/2023 14:14

Big match for Reading tonight against Luton.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 19/04/2023 16:14

@aibutohavethisusername

Why is it so important?

@aibutohavethisusername

Why is it so important?

Because of the points deduction every game for Reading is like a final.. as in the bottom 3.
