Gladbach losing all our good players, mostly on a free (due to issues over several seasons with the sport director) and it's quite depressing
but there we go

Newcastle’s signing of Tonali is real statement stuff but I’m definitely hoping for more.

Looks as though pre-season training will start in the coming days for most clubs - it feels as though the previous season only just finished! I saw a press comment on how the players performed in the Eng-Isr U-21 semifinal to the effect that what can you expect at the end of an 11 month season. The players involved in the tournament aren’t going to get a proper break before this season starts either, are they.

But I assume that it was up to the clubs whether their players took part or not?

Arteta wanted SR to go because he needed playing time after being injured for so much of the season. If he hadn't been injured I doubt he would have been allowed to go.

@MustTryHarderAndHarder That’s a really good question, actually. I know clubs aren’t allowed to refuse to release players for senior internationals (unless for verified injuries) but I don’t know if the same rule applies for U-21 games.

The u21 England v Spain will be on Channel 4

Thanks, didn't realise that. It must have been a last minute thing.

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2023 16:04

I only saw it announced just now, very likely a late decision.

I think it is good that Cashley Cole was sent off as he is too hot headed.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 08/07/2023 17:55

We need to improve in the second half. Spain have been the better team.

burblish · 08/07/2023 17:56

Cor, it’s all getting a bit heated - hopefully they can all calm down a bit in the break. Come on England!

DuncinToffee · 08/07/2023 18:14

glad that was offside

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 08/07/2023 18:17

Yes, they are getting too many chances.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 08/07/2023 18:26

Pleased SR is seeing more of the ball.

burblish · 08/07/2023 18:29

Really good play there by Curtis Jones. I’m not impressed by the amount of play acting on both sides, though.

DuncinToffee · 08/07/2023 18:41

I agree, the play acting is getting on my nerves.

Spain are wasting so many chances
