Ooh, business before pleasure tonight?

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2023 21:54

I feel numb, I can't see us staying up anymore Sad

No creativity, no goals, the board has destroyed the club Angry

I will get angry soon enough

So sad @DuncinToffee

I watched the match and they tried so hard but just couldn't score.

It's crazy and sad..hopefully be a case of back up the season after rather then lingering in the Championship for years.

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2023 22:24

It's the match going fans I feel the most sad for, they are fantastic and don't deserve this.

Feel for you Dunc

Whilst pretending that I am resigned to Saints going down tonight was hard.

Oblomov23 · 27/04/2023 22:56

In Portugal. Watched the spurs v Manchester United game in a sports bar. I like this - being around other fans, watching other games, eg the Newcastle game tonight.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 27/04/2023 22:57

Super proud of our lads tonight, it was a tough start and they really stepped up. I’ve never seen anything quite like Isak’s assist, he literally danced around the edge of the pitch, it was magical.

However, on a human level, I do feel for the Everton fans. We know only too well how devastating a mismanaged club can be. There was a shot of a lone evertonian in the stands after the ?third goal and the sheer desperation on his face was heartbreaking. It was as if he was pleading with the team not to let him down any more.

10 goals in two games for us. And they said we couldn’t score…

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 27/04/2023 22:58

Oh and Man U and Spurs dropped points tonight. Bloody marvellous!

Oblomov23 · 27/04/2023 23:02

Thanks Nobby. Yes, enjoying Portugal very much. Tis fabulous. The weather is Sunny, blue skies, 28 degrees. Perfect. (Spurs game raining - everyone in coats and woolly hats). Walked into a small football shop on the high street, so clean, so well laid out. All the teams, Portugal, Porto, Benfica. Nice shop.

Bugger. Can't really argue with the result - we weren't nearly good enough. And after the last 3 games I was pretty much expecting it unfortunately.

I can argue with some of the refereeing. The second goal was blatantly offside. Why was VAR only looking from that dreadful angle? From the side his arm, and probably shoulder, were far further forward.

And as for the studs down the back of White's leg - it's become a cliché - but if that was Xhaka, that would have been a red. And Grealish can fuck right off.

Xhaka alway got treated quite harshly in the Bundesliga too, his own doing for the most part - but i still love his 100% commitment to wining. I don't think any of it is malicious.

Grealish - i just can't stand to look at him from his stupid socks to his hairband. It is purely based on that, no other reason so totally unreasonable.
(isn't there a law/rule about wearing shin pads or has that all gone now?)

Unfortunately for the PL it looks as though City are going to dominate in the next few years.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 28/04/2023 17:18

Enter Newcastle United….

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 28/04/2023 17:30

We'll see if anything comes from the FFP prosecution. There are always going to be financial imbalances, but this is getting to PSG levels...

Tarkan · 28/04/2023 20:03

Watching Dundee v Cove tonight. Arbroath need Dundee to win to help keep us safe but I don't think I've ever supported them before and it feels weird. 🤣

Brefugee · 29/04/2023 08:50

well in a similar title race in the Bundesliga Dortmund managed to only draw against Bochum (will be relegated) so that they didn't go top and challenge Bayern for the title.

Now we're relying on also-going-to-be-regegated-Hertha Berlin on Sunday. Ho hum.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 29/04/2023 12:44

Thinking back to Wednesday's game; Pep really out thought Arteta. Getting Haaland and de Bruyne constantly into that space behind the midfield was very clever. But more worrying was Arteta not doing anything to stop it when it carried on all game. Dropping Partey deeper, or getting White to drop into defence could have stopped some of the goals, and probably wouldn't have damaged our attack (such as it was) too badly.

Also, harking back to that article on the time wasting - I noticed how extremely bad we are at throw ins! I don't think there's any deliberate time wasting in it, just that we don't seem to have a clue what we're doing! That's something that should definitely be sorted out on the training ground.

And what was all that with Haaland's Timotei audition at the end...

In Scottish League Two, East Fife are 4th and Forfar are 5th.

They play each other next week.

If it finishes Forfar 5 East Fife 4 then Forfar will go 4th and East Fife will be 5th.

But if it’s Forfar 4 East Fife 5 then East Fife will remain 4th and Forfar will remain 5th.

WhiteHartLane · 29/04/2023 20:22

Wow Brighton and a very late comeback by the Bee's.

Final home game for Gills today, not a great performance, smacked of a team already on the beach. Still great atmosphere and weather and DS got a few high 5's from the players when they did their lap of honour at the end.

Pleased to see Plymouth promoted to the Championship, they have some of the nicest fans Smile

Was at the Reading Wigan game today. That was depressing.

I can imagine. Nothing like an injury time equalizer to send you down Sad

Yes I remember you saying you followed Reading, was just looking at it from a Wigan fans p.o.v.

I hope results go Reading's way next weekend and you get to still see them play in the championship next season Smile

aibutohavethisusername · 30/04/2023 17:09

Ahh that makes sense.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 30/04/2023 17:18

Great second half from the boys in black and white today, Eddie’s half time talks are becoming things of legend.

In the last 7 days we have had the ball in the back of the net 15 times. Only 13 counted but fuck me. Not bad for a team that ‘couldn’t score’ at the turn of the year.

Spurs having another mare although have managed to get one back.
