Been a lovely weekend without Chelsea mens playing

Lakeyloo · 24/04/2023 10:28

Just resurfaced after a long day yesterday.... that was a stressful watch !
Just proves that we aren't quite there with our depth of squad. Couple of players out that could have made a difference (Ferguson to start with) but so proud of our boys ! What a team. Wanted to give Solly a big hug (did have something in my eye at the end 😢) Oh well, focus is on the rest of the season, still hopeful for UECL but not feeling confident about keeping hold of De Zerbi.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 24/04/2023 11:00

I was really rooting for Brighton yesterday, we caught the second half when we got home and they more than matched Manchester Reds. I hope they get thumped off Citeh.

Tarkan · 25/04/2023 19:23

Got home a little late to catch kick off in the FA Youth Cup final, two West Ham goals just after I sit down. They must have been waiting for me to get some wine. 😁

Yes, we watched the whole match (Arsenal supporters).

West Ham deserved to win, they took virtually every chance and scored.

We passed the ball around a lot but couldn't score.

West Ham were so much taller than us. I don't think our team were much younger, but just much smaller.

Tarkan · 26/04/2023 11:50

It was a great match, you had some other good opportunities too so it's a shame only one turned into a goal. Although the YouTube stream seemed to like to lag just as anyone got near the goal mouth so I was relying on the sound and any replays to tell me about any other goals or chances which got a little annoying.

DD was watching with me and even she commented on how tall some of our players were, I've noticed that with some of the main team as well. Ones I think are tiny are actually more an average height because there are a lot of tall players it seems.

aibutohavethisusername · 26/04/2023 12:57

As a neutral I’m looking to the City Arsenal game tonight.

aibutohavethisusername · 26/04/2023 12:57

Looking forward to

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/04/2023 12:58

Nervous about tonight, but on recent form I'm expecting to lose. Or maybe I'm just trying not to make myself ill.

On another note, here's an interesting article on timewasting in football, and in the Premiership in particular.

The Definitive Guide to Premier League Time-Wasting | The Analyst

To the losing team, it’s time-wasting. To those leading, it’s game management. But there's one thing that's not in doubt: it's getting worse.

Wolves fan here - safe now surely? My nerves are frayed, FRAYED I tell ya!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/04/2023 16:16

@YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue

I'm surprised that we are only middle in most of those charts. I think we waste a lot of time sometimes. Newcastle were bottom in a few of them.

Hope we win tonight, but not expecting to. I just hope that we are not thrashed a la Spurs.

Saliba is such a big miss. Hope Xhaka is fit.

Read on the bbc that Saka has got the most yellow cards this season (6) compared to any other player in Arsenal and City. I do think that referees pick on him.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/04/2023 16:18

@Tarkan Yes, and it wasn't just that they were tall, a lot of them were much more muscular. We looked like kids.

I think that the commentator said that WH would be playing Man City soon but I couldn't find anything about it when I googled last night.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/04/2023 22:02

Bugger. Can't really argue with the result - we weren't nearly good enough. And after the last 3 games I was pretty much expecting it unfortunately.

I can argue with some of the refereeing. The second goal was blatantly offside. Why was VAR only looking from that dreadful angle? From the side his arm, and probably shoulder, were far further forward.

And as for the studs down the back of White's leg - it's become a cliché - but if that was Xhaka, that would have been a red. And Grealish can fuck right off.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/04/2023 22:23

Actually, I can still do it once more...

At least Saints have been persistently crap, no nerves to shred.

Anyone see the Liverpool Handball?

BitOutOfPractice · 26/04/2023 22:34

I haven’t even been allowed to mention football tonight. DP is arsenal 🙄

my dd’s boyfriend is Sheffield Utd though so we’ve been surreptitiously texting. Congratulations to the Blades.

Oblomov23 · 26/04/2023 22:44

Watching from Portugal, enjoyed the Man City v Arsenal game.

AndNobbyDancing · 26/04/2023 22:58

Are you liking Portugal? @Oblomov23 I saw your post on the overrated thread 😲.

Agree that as a neutral the city game was good, Chelsea continue there dreadful run, honestly the only thing that would soften the saints relegation would be if Chelsea joined them.

Well done to the Blades, the kids are desperate for Luton Town to win the play offs.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/04/2023 23:46

Considering we were bottom at Christmas, the idea of finishing above Chelsea actually makes my smirk quite a lot!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 27/04/2023 09:07

@AndNobbyDancing

Yes, would love to see Luton in the Premiership. But it is so difficult when other clubs get parachute payments.

Yes, it was fun while it lasted. We just couldn't cope with De Bruyne and Haaland.

MIght have been different with Saliba.

Tarkan · 27/04/2023 09:58

Anyone see the Liverpool Handball?

Yep and I'd love to know the VAR discussion there. They seem to have taken forever to check that Jarrod Bowen was offside then the handball check was over in an instant. Moyes was raging even afterwards by the sound of things.

Sadly we didn't lose it last night-we lost it when "they forgot to draw the lines for the offside" so we dropped points and then we dropped 6 points in the last 3 games.

A real missed opportunity and we are a bit gutted here...

nearlyveryold · 27/04/2023 17:04

Nervous for spurs match tonight - hope they do well.

aibutohavethisusername · 27/04/2023 19:13

Hope Man Utd win!
