Am very late to this party - hope it's OK to join in now?

On my way to a match: I support Borussia Mönchengladbach and as of this season am the proud owner of a season ticket (some people wait years, we got lucky after 4,probably benefitting from other's misfortune)

We're the only team in the Bundesliga who regularly beat Bayern München. Last season was a disaster for many reasons. DCs don't like footy but will come with one of us if the other can't make it and we can't find someone else.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 04/09/2022 15:15

Good luck for today Brefugee!

I think Arsenal will get a result today.

Brighton v Leicester is end to end stuff.

Brefugee · 04/09/2022 16:13

Thanks.
I always keep an eye on Arsenal, we really loved Xhaka here

When the Bundesliga was playing when your football had all stopped I got quite into it. Naturally, being a Wolves fan, I had to support Wolfsburg!

Enjoy your match today!

As expected so far. Referee from Manchester rules out goal for challenge that we've already been told this season "isn't a foul".

Martinez and Varane kicking and manhandling Arsenal attackers without consequence and Arsenal get a yellow for their first foul. McTominay kicking and shoving his way around midfield with impunity.

To be fair, ManU have played very well, but in a game of fine margins, these decisions make all the difference...

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 04/09/2022 18:27

Well played ManU, they took advantage of our poor defending. Probably would have been different if that goal hadn't been ruled out, but that's what we expect up here. Sadly it's turned out exactly as we feared...

Paul Tierney is from Wigan and Lee Mason Is from Bolton and both support their home teams....

it all seems such a long time ago! we're the ones who had a stadium full of cut outs, the away end was pretty full, and not just with Bundesliga teams, it was great fun looking at them all when we picked ours up. (welcome to suggestions as to what to do with them Grin)

We succumbed to the Curse of Bayern yesterday - often when we win or draw against them we lose the next match and there it was. Our fans were great though.

AndNobbyDancing · 07/09/2022 10:48

And Tuchel falls.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 07/09/2022 13:22

And Brighton have agreed to let them approach Potter. Seems madness from BHA’s perspective!

AndNobbyDancing · 07/09/2022 13:31

Agreed! I assume the ££'s are ££££££££££ shame though for the Seagulls. Wonder if Scott Parker will replace Potter?

DuncinToffee · 07/09/2022 19:06

Clash with the new owners it seems?

I like Graham Potter, wouldn't have minded him at Everton when he was linked but not sure if he is a good fit for Chelsea.

I’m just grateful they’re keeping their paws off King Eddie!

WhiteHartLane · 08/09/2022 07:10

I thought Chelsea may have gone for Poch.

Liverpool are looking shite atm. Tottenham finally got 2 passed a 10 man Marseille after a poor 1st half performance.
Richarlison's headers 😍what a signing he is.

Brefugee · 08/09/2022 07:15

I only saw parts of the Dortmund match from all the CL matches, but the results are very interesting. Some went as i expected, some not, a bit of a mixed bag. Always happy to see Leverkusen lose though.

burblish · 08/09/2022 10:48

Ach, I’m late to the thread!

  1. Liverpool fan since the 80s
  2. DC support our local club (Spurs) which is fair enough!
  3. Not the start to the season that I expected after a great performance against Man City in the Community Shield, but maybe it will be a transition season for us. In Klopp We (Still) Trust - after all, we are Liverpool, not Chelsea (or Watford…)
YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 08/09/2022 21:19

Emmanuel Eboue on visiting Buckingham Palace in February 2007: "We went there & Thierry Henry said to me, 'Please, Emmanuel, it's the Queen's house, don't do anything'. 'No problem,' I said, 'Don't worry'. So the Queen came in & went along shaking each player's hand."
Eboue: "After she'd finished, I saw all her corgis so I said, 'Ma'am, Ma'am'. She turned back & asked, 'How are you?'. I said, 'Ma'am, I am okay thank you, but please, I don't want to be a footballer any more, I want to look after your dogs.’"
“I want to take them for walks, wash them, feed them. I want to be a dog carer. The Queen, honestly, she was laughing. Prince Philip was laughing too. All the team were laughing!”

DialSquare · 09/09/2022 09:44

That's so Eboue!

DialSquare · 09/09/2022 10:10

We were the only football club ever to be invited to have afternoon tea with her. It has been said for years that both the Queen and her Mum were Arsenal fans.

DuncinToffee · 09/09/2022 16:55

I see the FA jas cancelled al football this weekend, I thought at first it was just professional matches.
I don't think they have read the room on this one.

DuncinToffee · 09/09/2022 16:55

Ah and Graham Potter was announced by Chelsea yesterday.

OP posts:
EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 09/09/2022 17:39

Yeah my sons u13 match was cancelled, he’s gutted. The Queen loved a bit of sport so I find it a bit of a incongruous decision but it is what it is I guess.

And on a selfish premier league level an extra week will hopefully mean our full team is back fit to batter Bournemouth next weekend (assuming those matches go ahead).

Oblomov22 · 09/09/2022 18:11

Cancelling premier league seems ridiculous. And all kids games. School days, Uni open days, and Uni moving in dates for starters. Cancelling loads of stuff over all the 10 days leading up to funeral is irritating me.

DuncinToffee · 09/09/2022 20:28

Haha I was thinking the same about injuries Eddie

Pickford out for a month but DCL and Doucs are back in full training.

AndNobbyDancing · 09/09/2022 21:10

Behave BlackandWhite

Agree Dunc especially with grassroots.

Thoughts on next week's games, especially the Spurs game, I can't see it going ahead due to policing, typically I've got tickets.

I don't know where they will fit in this weekends cancellations let alone if they cancel next week's.
