Gutted the games have all been cancelled - I don’t really understand why. I’d have thought getting together and observing a silence, or singing the national anthem before kick off would have been a far more fitting tribute than cancelling. On a personal note, had forked our money we don’t really have, to go to a game for DD’s birthday - we’ll be unlikely to make the rescheduled game as we live a distance from the team she follows.

Brefugee · 10/09/2022 09:41

I'm with you all, it is a completely over-the-top haven't-read-the-room reaction by the FA. (and the thread in AIBU is enraging, i really have to get off it)

It just adds to the stress of your over-full programme, and realistically will come in January?

Did you know that when German football has midweek matches (not very often) they call it "Engish week"?

AndNobbyDancing · 10/09/2022 09:44

Saw you on that thread Bref I tend to only hang around the sports pages but got sucked in there, it was certainly enraging. The black and white thinking.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 10/09/2022 09:52

Allan Saint Maximan has cut his hair. I hope it’s not where his special powers were stored.

DuncinToffee · 10/09/2022 10:00

That really sucks sunstoked, hope you can get the money back assuming it will be re-arranged to midweek.

And happy birthday to DD

Thanks @DuncinToffee its one of those isn’t it, not the end of the world, I was feeling mad last night!

Certainly hope Maximum continues to perform - I’ve just put him into my dream team thinking he’ll be back from injury for next game!

DuncinToffee · 10/09/2022 10:06

Football is hated on MN.

On the football forums I read, the majority of people weren't happy with the FA's decision. But then there isn't a lot of love for the FA anyway Grin

I have started watching 'welcome to Wrexham', it's good and really shows the fans passion for their football club.

That sounds interesting - will at least give us a football fix for this weekend. Also going to look up Crystal Palace Academy documentary, as keep seeing it advertised so that might be worth a watch as well.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 10/09/2022 10:24

Ooh I might start welcome to Wrexham. I love the story and what they’re doing there.

DuncinToffee · 10/09/2022 10:49

I caught a bit of the CP documentary. I think there was something similar about Portsmouth academy years back. It's a brutal environment.

Just saw this on twitter. Thought you lot might find it amusing...

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 11/09/2022 16:42

Haha that’s brilliant!

AndNobbyDancing · 11/09/2022 16:47

Very funny!

So bets on the spurs game being cancelled?

Gills fans need to do this, they've not scored in 5 games either 😂

Brefugee · 11/09/2022 20:35

i think German football stadiums are more relaxed about what people take into the stands? (we're allowed beer in our seats/in the stands, too)

burblish · 12/09/2022 10:08

@YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue That’s fantastic!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/09/2022 18:39

*Chelsea's home game with Liverpool and Leeds United's trip to Manchester United have been called off.

Brighton against Crystal Palace had already been called off because of rail strikes and remains postponed*

Some times have changed slightly too I think for the ones going ahead.

AndNobbyDancing · 12/09/2022 20:14

Spurs going ahead, must admit I'm delighted but surprised!
Kids are delighted as whilst they have been forced taken to lots of Saints games they haven't ever been to the Spurs Ground forever White Heart Lane for me

BitOutOfPractice · 12/09/2022 20:19

What do you all think of Diego Costa signing for Wolves.

he was never my favourite player when at Chelsea but I suspect he’s the kind of player that you love when he’s playing for you. I hope he doesn’t upset the balance on the dressing room but I’m looking forward to seeing if he can make an impact for us because we are desperate for goals. The very promising - and tall - Austrian striker we signed came off after 45 minutes with an ACL injury 🙄

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/09/2022 20:23

Be intresting..when he wasn't looking for fights he was a good played back in the day

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 12/09/2022 20:23

Arsenal game going ahead for some reason. Still can't understand why they would cancel the PSV game. Are there really going to be riots of royal well wishers?

Never liked Costa, but that's probably because he used to bully our defence too regularly. Doesn't seem like a very nice chap. Is he still up for it though? That will be the key.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/09/2022 20:40

He looked up for it in training today. He said he wanted to get back to the Prem. We’ll see. I think he’s a player that you hate when he’s playing for another team, love when he plays for you.

Brefugee · 12/09/2022 20:56

Karius also back to the Premier League. Interesting.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 12/09/2022 21:07

Yep, it was bad business on our part letting Dubravka go to Man U however he wanted the move.

Glad on one hand it’s getting back to business as usual this weekend but on a selfish note I’d have been happy to see the Newcastle v Bournemouth game postponed because I can’t go this weekend whereas a change in date would have meant I didn’t need to sell my ticket!

Guess Brentford/Arsenal is a much smaller crowd so makes sense to go ahead Sunday if any of them were too.

Who knows about Thursday seems a odd one to call off. Especially if other London games are taking place the day before..
