our fans have been doing that, coach welcome with lots of blue smoke, the siren before z-cars, banners, flags on seats and now peaceful protests against the board, Communication with the club is still poor but improving thanks to the fans forum

@Brefugee

Well, perhaps we get a distorted picture in the UK, but when I hear the word Ultras, I think of extreme right-wing thugs.

You say that the Ultras only fight each other, but surely going to a football match should be family friendly where you don't have to worry about being caught in the crossfire between groups of Ultras.

But they don't go out to fight with other fans which is the difference I think.

Youaremysonshine · 21/03/2023 16:58

So when do we all think Conte is getting the sack? 😁

According to various newspapers, he will come to an agreement with the board to leave during the international break.

yes, I've seen some of that on the TV. I'm really enjoying how the PL grounds are starting to get lively again. I see that standing behind the goals is a thing again and that really makes a difference to the atmosphere

i'm rolling my eyes here, but that's down to the press.

as i said, if you don't understand it you don't get it. They don't have running fights anywhere near the stadium. Ask anyone who has been to a stadium in Germany, for eg, even when it's one of the huge rivalries (i go week in week out, and even our big risky match, I haven't ever seen a punch thrown apart from a few idiot drunken blokes on the bus)

Not if you read Brefugees post explaining what Ultras are and do. Don't get distracted by the word Ultra Smile

I think with Ultra's we think about the Italian ones who go around stabbing random opposition fans in the bottom.

We've had groups like the Headhunters and the like, but since the ban we've got serious on them and cleaned that aspect up somewhat.

The only violence I've seen at Arsenal is when Sp*rs or West Ham have started it.

The Cologne incident was only against the police and staff trying to stop them from getting in without tickets. I still think UEFA have been far, far too kind to them. If it had been at Chelsea for instance, the fans would have fought back and it could easily have got very nasty.

I remember a Champions League match donkey's years ago, I want to say Dortmund, when we were walking around to the West Stand and came across a bunch of German fans getting lost. So we guided them around the stadium to where they needed to be, and had a very pleasant chat with them. This, obviously, was Highbury, when you basically had to walk around residential streets to get to the other side of the stadium...

Youaremysonshine · 22/03/2023 09:56

Harry Redknapp! 😬

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 22/03/2023 11:57

Maybe he can do to Sp*rs what he did to Southampton...

Great corner by Saka and great goal from Rice.

Great penalty from Kane.

Grealish missed a sitter at the end of the first half there. I’d love to see Joe Willock in the England set up, he’d be great.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 23/03/2023 21:31

Oh dear. It was all going so well. Let's hope we can hold on to our lead.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 23/03/2023 21:41

Big phew!

DuncinToffee · 23/03/2023 21:55

We turned over to the Apprentice, England looked very comfortable the first half, did Italy improve or did England sit back?

OP posts:
IMustDoMoreExercise · 23/03/2023 21:58

Italy improved. Then when we couldn't compete we decided we would start time wasting and we got lots of yellow cards which resulted in a red card for Luke Shaw.

DuncinToffee · 23/03/2023 22:03

Ah, thanks. at least it's a win. I'Il catch up with the highlights later.

It looks like Tuchel is off to Bayern Munich according to Bild.

Nagelsmann to Spurs?

OP posts:
Brefugee · 25/03/2023 09:33

Sky Sports news here in Germany is doubling down on it's normal Bayern-o-Visionness to the extent that they are showing footage of the entry to the subterranean garage at the Bayern HQ.

A lot of Bayern fans are incandescent with rage. They are 2nd in the table and will most likely win the league (as usual). They can also still win the domestic cup (DFB Pokal) and potentially also the Champions' League. So it is clear that Nagelsmann (who i find deeply unsympathetic) while a good trainer, has issues with the (equally deeply unsympathetic) leadership at Bayern.

It will be interesting to see how Tuchel gets on with the players who have been known to bully previous trainers and not do what they are told. Tuchel is a complete control freak and likes to plan their training and tactics to the nth degree. The leadership at the club interfere more and more and Tuchel won't like that. It's going to be really interesting.

Among my Twitter timeline, which is mostly Gladbach suppporters in football terms, the joke is that he couldn't beat us, so few Bayern managers can, so he had to go.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 25/03/2023 10:30

@Brefugee

So the fans wanted Nagelsmann to stay?
