Yes, our Vieira is so inconsistent. He was so good in the pre-season matches but seems to have regressed since then.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 18/03/2023 11:25

Brilliant result for Newcastle last night. Still can’t understand how Anderson’s goal was ruled out but Aleksander Isak is looking worth every single one of his £60 million pound fee.

Oblomov23 · 18/03/2023 14:10

Dh has gone to Southampton v Spurs. In an Executive Box. Tres posh.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 18/03/2023 19:26

Well done to Everton. Iwobi played well.

DuncinToffee · 18/03/2023 20:06

Massive point for us. Heads stayed up after going behind, well done to Dyche for starting to change mentality.

I thought Iwobi was a bit hit and miss today but such an improvement since joining, happy to see him in the starting 11.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 18/03/2023 20:20

Iwobi has always had talent, it just that nobody (except the African Cup of Nations) seems to be able to get the best out of him.

Great atmosphere at Gladbach last evening - mostly because the Werder fans always come en masse and always give great support, as do Gladbach fans. On the pitch? We threw away a lead, but at least we didn't lose. And Wednesday also drew but are still top of the League (one, but even so, unbeaten in about 23 matches now)

Anyway, this is what the away end looked like after about 5 minutes. Cue loads of announcements about "stop doing that" and "the stewards will hand the perpetrators over to the police" to be greeted with the home fans bellowing "pyro isn't illegal" (well it isn't allowed in stadiums, but they all do it for away matches, some more than others)

I must admit that i really like fan culture here, we were all in the stadium beer garden, pre kick-off, with a load of Werder fans doing a bit of the ol' trash-talk and generally having fun. They took up their entire qty of tickets, 5,000 in the away end and loads in the VIP area and dotted around the other stands (not allowed in the home end)

They sang loudly, we sang louder. we all sang songs about the ref and the DFB and it was a lot of fun. And not at all cold.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 18/03/2023 21:21

I do wish it could be more like that here. It would certainly work with most teams, but unfortunately the trouble at the Emirates is always caused by the Sp*rs fans, and the West Ham fans, who seem to come to cause trouble.

When we had that dreadful night when the Cologne fans broke in, they were actually fine sitting among the Arsenal fans, didn't cause trouble once they were in.

They still should have been banned, as Arsenal would have been if it had happened the other way round, but it was actually OK in the stadium.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 18/03/2023 21:22

I just read Conte's outburst on BBC Sport. Wow.

tbh I'm not a fan of the pyro stuff, but a lot of them do it, and generally it's fine. Cologne are our big local rivals so I'd like them to be banned from everything Grin I've been at our stadium when they've been chucking the flares and doing pitch invasions. When we play them there is maximum policing, no alcohol, and very very strict segregation. To be honest, though, it's the groups of ultras fighting other ultras for the most part, they say (it doesn't always work) that they leave the "normalos" alone.

Apparently there was a fracas last night and our lot were displaying a load of scarves and things they took off Werder fans. About par for the course, tbh.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 18/03/2023 23:07

I just think about the fact that had it been Arsenal fans breaking into Cologne's stadium, we would have been banned for 10 years.

And people wonder why we think we're hard done by...

Just saw it on MotD.

How do the Spurs fans feel about it?

it will be interesting to see what happens after the Napoli shenanegins this week. I have thoughts on that but we'll see.

As for Conte - i don't know what to say. He sounds completely and utterly frustrated but at this point? probably best if he and Spurs part ways, it can't be helping at all.

Oblomov23 · 19/03/2023 10:11

Conte. Clearly wants to go. Speech to prompt sacking we felt.

Not just Arsenal - had any English team’s fans done that, they’d have been hit with the maximum possible sanctions. Perception over principle, sadly.

WhiteHartLane · 19/03/2023 10:39

A very Ronaldo-esque rant from Conte. I don't disagree with a lot of what he said, no Spurs fan is happy with how the club is run by Enic/Levy and the bottling culture ingrained there, however I can disagree with his brand of football. He is not blameless, his tactics and subs have been questionable, the football turgid and boring. He's turned Sonny into a player only fit for League 1. I'd like to see him leave now going into the international break. At least we could end the season playing in the oppositions half 🤣

WhiteHartLane · 19/03/2023 11:08

Sadly spot on with this comment regarding the players though
Conte "because they are used to it here, they are used to it. They don't play for something important here. They don't want to play under pressure, they dont want to play under stress" 😥

Fulham Shock utter madness

Such a shame as they were doing to well.

I feel sorry for Fulham but not Mitrovic. Xhaka will be happy.

WhiteHartLane · 19/03/2023 20:08

They were, 5 minutes of madness from Fulham and its all over for them when they should be through. 3 correct red cards given but if I was a Utd fan I wouldn't be happy, shit performance from them and a shit way to win a match.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 20/03/2023 00:31

From above, I agree, not just Arsenal, but any English team would have been banned for 10 years. Possibly even all English teams - they've done that before.

Sounded like a pretty easy game for us today, even after the early scare I think we'd have won comfortable. I think Palace have made a mistake. Kompany said he thought they were overachieving under Vieira, and it sounded like they were appalling today.

Anyway, ♫"Top of the league, we're havin' a laugh"♫...

Brefugee · 20/03/2023 08:30

The English team/fan ban came after Hysel IIRC? and i have always been a bit shocked that the Italian clubs got no sanction (afaik).

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

In Bundesliga news: Bayern managed to lose yesterday (yaayy) so are not now top of the league. Finally.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 21/03/2023 09:58

@Brefugee

Arsenal women are playing Bayern this evening in the CL quarter finals.
