He looked up for it in training today. He said he wanted to get back to the Prem. We’ll see. I think he’s a player that you hate when he’s playing for another team, love when he plays for you.

I think that sums him up very well - he has something of the street brawler about him and that fiercely competitive spirit which fans get behind and make opposing fans love to hate him!

burblish · 16/09/2022 02:40

Glad to see Ivan Toney got an England call-up. Unsurprised and yet still frustrated that of the outfield players Southgate has called up, half are defenders. Only 5 out of the 28 are midfielders. I do like and respect Southgate but come on…!

sunstoked · 16/09/2022 07:34

Honestly don’t get it either - midfield is so important for holding the ball up and building any sort of attack, you at least need to take a few options!

AndNobbyDancing · 17/09/2022 16:41

Well the Spurs match is going ahead, I'm installed. Let the goals come.

Well the Spurs match is going ahead, I'm installed. Let the goals come.

And the goals kept coming, mainly from Spurs and great to see Son has found his form. Taxi for Rogers I think, be surprised if he lasts till the international break, he doesn't seem to want to be there anyway.

Another loss for Gills against Mansfield. Lose to Hartlepool next week and I think that'll be it for Neil Harris, 2 goals in 9 nowhere near good enough.

AndNobbyDancing · 17/09/2022 21:17

I will never be a Spurs fan, but that was worth the journey up to watch, and as I failed to make the kids support the correct team they were delighted. Agree about Rogers, lots of chanting about him and the leciester fans seemed to be joining in.

Brefugee · 17/09/2022 21:44

It must have been really exciting to be at that Spurs match. I hadn't realised Son hadn't scored yet this season.

We had a good win today, the stadium was absolutely rocking. It was a bit of a grudge match (RB Leipzig - there is a lot of bad blood about them with all the other fans in the league). My English team came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 so not bad for me this weekend.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 17/09/2022 23:42

I knew @Brefugee as I finally took him out of my fantasy football team this week after getting sick of waiting for it to happen for him 😐

Brefugee · 18/09/2022 08:02

isn't that always the way? i feel your pain

Our match was the late one yesterday so we watched a bit of PL before going. Very impressive how they did the silence, the applause and were generally respectful. Imagine how much of an impact that would have had last week? How do the FA consistently get things like this wrong? Was it just England or did the other home nations do this?

sunstoked · 18/09/2022 09:32

Cant believe number of goals spurs scored yesterday, great game! Like you I took Son out of my team, but put Maximum in for Newcastle hoping he’d be fit…..back fired a bit there. West brom got a draw against Norwich, so not a bad result, but we are rapidly falling down the table and need to start winning some games fast.

First WSL game today since the Euro’s for my DD’s team, so off to Villa park to watch.

Oblomov22 · 18/09/2022 09:54

BitOutOfPractice saw Costa on bench on MoTD. What a signing for Wolves!

Genosen · 18/09/2022 16:19

It's probably obvious from my username that I'm an Arsenal fan! One of my 2 DS supports Wolves as he likes them, maxifoot but neither of them is interested in football.

DuncinToffee · 18/09/2022 16:39

A win! Not a great match but we deserved the 3 points and we finally seem to have a decent midfield.

Not at all obvious to me Genosen, can you explain?

Brefugee · 21/09/2022 07:41

Urgh. Outing probably but here goes: Sheffield Bloody Wednesday. I see you. You slackers.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 25/09/2022 01:01

I know it's only the Nations League, but...

Brefugee · 25/09/2022 08:47

I'm not a huge fan of Internationals, although if England's women are playing near us we'll always go to watch (were once the only 2 in the away end for a match against Germany once) and I'm boycotting the world cup this year, so I'm not paying any attention to the nations league. I wonder if the players are just being half hearted because it's relative meaningless?

burblish · 25/09/2022 14:03

I’m going to Wembley on Monday for England v Germany - hope the lads step up and make a proper match of it out of pride, however meaningless it otherwise is. I’m actually more excited about going to see the Lionesses v USA in October - a sentiment I’m sure many will share right now!

WhiteHartLane · 26/09/2022 19:46

Nearly October so that can mean only one thing..... a new Watford Manager. Billic replaces ex-Forest Green manager Edwards after a whole 11 games in charge. Owner Gino Pozzo said "as with all decisions taken by the board, I believe this change to be in the best interests of the club.
"We felt Rob had enough time to show us the identity of his team, however performances haven't reflected our unrealistic hopes and ambitions"
What a wanker!

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 26/09/2022 21:52

@burblish well you had an exciting 11 minutes!

AndNobbyDancing · 26/09/2022 22:03

white I bloody lost a bet, I said new Watford manager in October, only a few days out. Now have a bet on who goes next Truss or Billic.

Eddie didn't they just. Do you think it is all part of a plan, and Pope was told to fluff it?

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 26/09/2022 22:23

ah I was gutted with that last one for Pope. This was his big chance. Although I’ve noticed before that he’s a great shot stopper and has no hesitations in getting between the ball and the net but he’s not brilliant at getting the ball in his hands and keeping it there, he does like to parry a shot rather than grab it and keep it.

mind with the injuries we’ve suffered and more picked up on international duty the less players we send to the WC the better tbh.

burblish · 26/09/2022 22:32

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 26/09/2022 21:52

@burblish well you had an exciting 11 minutes!

@EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy Indeed! On our way home now, shaking our heads at the fans who foolishly chose to leave early! I don’t think either side played particularly well, so a draw was probably the fairest result. Just such a shame that it came courtesy of a Pope blunder like that (we were at that end so had a horribly clear view of it). Was gutted that Saka’s amazing run straight after wasn’t rewarded with the goal it deserved.

burblish · 26/09/2022 22:44

@EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy I should add that I’ve rated Pope since his extraordinary display against Liverpool a couple of seasons ago, when he was like an octopus in goal. So, I was disappointed both for and by him today.
