Anyone up and going to watch the dressage? I thought I’d start a new thread for the next few days of eventing.

Ollie does divide opinion. But he is currently world number one. And horses don’t perform at this level if badly treated.

I was following along here, but wasn't quite sure whether the score was just for the final round of jumping or if they were adding the two.

I think it is, but it's a faff to find — you have to go into the correct day of the Olympics than you can choose the channel and time.

I'm currently stuck watching hockey. So different to previous Olympics where I used to have it on as background pretty much all summer holidays when I was indoors, irrespective of the sport.

@1990s, you do need to know roughly the session you want, but here are today's so far as an example. I don't think there's anything missing.

Surfaces are usually something like shredded rubber, shredded carpet and special sand (not beach sand!).

Whatever you think of him, Oliver could be forgiven for stick two fingers up at a few people tonight. The selectors ignored him for so many years because he supposedly wasn’t a team player, or allegedly was too demanding on his horses. He would be justified in pointing out that without him in 2016, we finished fourth and this year.....

But to be fair a lot of the teams that normally do well have been diminished lately- I'm not denying he's done brilliantly with the team at Tokyo but comparing 2016 with 2021 is apples and oranges isn't it?

I have a love hate relationship with Oliver, I wouldn’t particularly choose him as a rider to send my horse to, but there’s no denying he’s an incredibly driven and talented rider. I know someone who did send their horse to him and he transformed the way it went- to the extent of it being placed at 5*. I think he’s quite emotional underneath and that’s what sometimes gets him in trouble- he speaks first, thinks later occasionally. He really goes for it, and in his younger days he pushed past a few people and upset feelings. And it’s absolutely ages since he was with Piggy. He was practically a kid. He seems to be happily with Izzy without drama nowadays.

Anyway I’m extremely pleased for him and proud of how he has performed at this Olympics, and sorry for him that he dropped a pole in that last round, because he rode it quietly and as well as he could. The whole team did superbly. And I loved watching them.
