I think it was an official World Cup song but for some reason it always reminds me of the Olympics in Barcelona!

just looked it up, We are the champions was the official theme song for "94 FIFA World Cup.

I wonder why I associate it with the Olympic Games! I have no rational explanation at this point🤣

Can I join? This thread is great and glad I'm not the only one that gets mega stressed watching. Last night my heart was pounding and I was having hot flushes, DH sits there so calmly!

I've watched since Mexico 86 (hand of God), been through Italia 90 (Gazza's tears and penalties), Euro 96, the Beckham sending off, Ronaldo's wink, all of it and I was expecting it to all go wrong last night and even the previous game because it's happened so many times so it's surreal to be on the other side for once!

Good insights into why this team seems more together and has anyone noticed a few of the ex England pundits now saying the team during their time had issues within the camp - at the time we were told how together and ready the team was and how much they wanted it! I really hope this time it's the truth.

Anxious for Sunday - we're away (in another UK country) so will be watching in our cottage keeping our heads down hoping the tv is a big one!

DS2 has just come down and obv we are talking about the game last night.

me: "well, you can refuse to eat it. I wonder how long you'd last without bolognese or pizza!"
him: "hmmm, I didn't think this through"

he slept through lunch so asked if there was anything he could eat before dinner. without thinking I said: "your tortellini?"

Agree, it's a privilege to be there. I'd ban them for life if I caught them.

I love listening to the Italians belt out their NA.

It's just common decency, and to my mind, it's actually classy to be sporting and respectful.

Alas, a few beers and a misguided sense of humour and bravado will inevitably result in some booing.
