Since the last one was about last season, here's a shiny new one! I haven't even seen quali yet, I've been so busy today Blush Who's getting up in the middle of the night?

Wasn't it Mika who said he was taking a season out then just didn't go back? It seemed like his heart just wasn't in it any more. He was such a great racer.

EauRouge · 19/07/2014 18:31

Oh dear, that didn't go well for Lewis. I'm glad he's not injured. Williams had a cracking quali. I don't think Kimi Raikkonen can be arsed any more.

Well Lewis certainly has his work cut out for tomorrow, though he's shown before that he can make the best of a difficult start. I think it's really great to see Williams so far up the grid. I do think Valtteri is one to watch.

I know what you mean about Kimi, he's another one who left for a while and came back and just doesn't seem to have the heart for it any more. IIRC, the same thing happened with Mansell also.

EauRouge · 19/07/2014 20:12

I bet he'll finish in the top 5 unless something goes wrong with his car, or the team fuck up with strategy/pitstops.

OP posts:
OberonTheHopeful · 19/07/2014 21:19

I would think so too, although today's brake failure wasn't promising.

EauRouge · 20/07/2014 09:54

Things are going from bad to worse for Lewis- 5 place penalty after a gearbox change so now he starts in 20th. Finish in the points maybe? He's good at turning things around.

OP posts:
EauRouge · 20/07/2014 09:58

Money talks, Maldonado crashes. A lot.

OP posts:
OberonTheHopeful · 20/07/2014 11:34

Even last night Lewis was saying on TV that he might start from the pit lane. It makes some sense if he's so far back anyone, but I do think he'll fight for some points.

Maldonado's looks a bit like club racing at it's most refined Grin

OberonTheHopeful · 20/07/2014 12:37

D'oh! 'Maldonado's deal'.

Looks like Lewis is starting on the grid after all.

OberonTheHopeful · 20/07/2014 19:53

My, that was quite an exciting race Grin

EauRouge · 20/07/2014 21:41

I think I recorded the wrong channel, I seem to have recorded some kind of bumper car racing by mistake Grin Well done, Bottas.

OP posts:
EauRouge · 20/07/2014 21:43

And poor Massa. He needs some good luck. Although he was lucky to come out of that in one piece.

OP posts:
OberonTheHopeful · 20/07/2014 21:54

Definitely bumper cars today Grin. An amazing drive by Lewis I thought, 19th to 3rd is no mean feat. He was really going for it!

I do feel for Massa, not the first time this season that he's recorded a DNF that wasn't his fault at all He's certainly due some luck!. And I really do think Bottas is one to watch.

Also great to see Williams going from strength to strength. If it hadn't been for the crash at the start I think they might well have had two podium finishes.

EauRouge · 20/07/2014 22:03

I dunno what they put in the water in Finland, but they sure produce a lot of fast drivers from a pretty small population.

OP posts:
OberonTheHopeful · 20/07/2014 22:14

They do, maybe it's something to do with the light evenings in summer Grin.

500smiles · 20/07/2014 22:24

I've been avoiding this thread all day in case of spoilers, not being in possession of Sky tv.

Superb race, great to see some good racing instead of a procession.

Very sorry for Massa, very impressed by Hamilton.

Suzi Perry is really getting on my nerves though, she asks some pretty banal questions, Lee McKenzie is so much better IMO.

OberonTheHopeful · 20/07/2014 22:54

I was able to see the race on Sky today (I don't have it myself) and feel that their coverage isn't that great tbh. I think the BBC had quite a good team (mostly) and it was a pity when it was split up when they sold some of the live coverage to Sky.

EauRouge · 26/07/2014 20:45

No, I don't like the Sky coverage either.

Blimey, Hamilton's having to work for his money at the moment, isn't he? But he'll come through the pack again. Podium finish maybe?

OberonTheHopeful · 26/07/2014 21:09

I wonder just how much more bad luck poor Lewis can suffer. Overtaking isn't always easy at Hungary, but if anyone can do it he can.

MassaAttack · 27/07/2014 15:48

I think Lewis did pretty darned well today Grin

500smiles · 27/07/2014 19:53

Brilliant exciting race today, Daniel has really got fire in his belly, and Lewis was storming. Oh and I think Jenson was doing really well apart from the bad tyre call at the first pit stop.

What did everyone think of the team orders?

OberonTheHopeful · 27/07/2014 20:09

I think Lewis performed brilliantly today, pit lane to third is exceptional! Brilliant drive by Daniel too, and I think Valterri has shown again that he's one to watch.

I was a bit Hmm about the team orders at Mercedes, it isn't as if Nico was on Lewis's gearbox, and I'd say lewis was right to hold firm given the result.

EauRouge · 28/07/2014 09:06

In true Lewis style. Didn't seem very happy though, I expect that was because of the team orders. What was all that about? There was no need. They've said they will 'rethink' their strategies. Toto Wolff: "We cannot expect the drivers in the second half of the season to move over for their main competitor." No shit. Hmm

Nice to see Ricciardo win again, those last few laps were incredible. He's got some pretty good moves.

OP posts:
MassaAttack · 28/07/2014 13:15

Ricciardo is fabulous. The skill he demonstrated avoiding that crash on turn one at Hockenheim was awesome.

He even has his own emoticon: Grin

MassaAttack · 28/07/2014 13:17

Oh, there were simultaneous cries of 'fuck off!' at ours when Lewis was told to give way Grin
