I think whoever stole those trophies was planning to keep them, or they had somebody lined up to buy them. They're not the real ones so not worth as much. What a shame for RB.

BBC Radio news are reporting this morning that McLaren will retain Jenson for next season. I hope it's accurate.

I thought they'd have been stolen to order by a collector since they're a bit too distinctive to try to sell on. DH thought it was probably some drunken idiots.

So either DH is right, or it was sober idiots who then didn't know what to do with them when they couldn't sell them.

Yes, I think the most probable explanation is that idiots stole them not realising they weren't the real ones and then ditched them when it was so widely reported. It's a shame that some were damaged.

I thought they would have melted them down or something.
