BelfastBloke's Rolling Footie Thread 2013-14 Season

The rolling Football thread for Season '13-14 might as well start off in the traditional way with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread all those seasons ago. But with the new tradition of leaving the musty changing room of Dadsnet...
We've been top heavy with premiership stuff but it's really for any footie played on the planet and beyond.

Footie fans please sign in with

1.Which team you support.
2.Which team(s) you loathe.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.)

ah ha ha ha ha, just seen the red card Pan, at least you don't have to suffer the hair for the last 2 mins

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:32

Fellani sent off. Mixed blessing....

Horsemad · 05/11/2013 21:34

Might be better off without him!!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/11/2013 21:35

Didn't know there was a thread this season. Brilliant.
Support Sunderland
Not too keen on Newcastle , Leeds or Rangers
My 3 year old DD watches match of the day on a Sunday morning and recognises Sunderland colours
Season awful so far , apart from the derby !

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:35

He just can't keep up can he? The litmus test of the difference between 'good Prem team' and champions, screamingly obvious.

OP posts:
Horsemad · 05/11/2013 21:36

Very true Pan.

Paleodad · 05/11/2013 21:40

2-2, could have been worse on a cold tuesday night on Hadrian's Wall.

Paleodad · 05/11/2013 21:43

forget champions league, it's all glamour down here in La Liga 1

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:45

Lg 1 is looking good isn;t Paleo? Lots of goals and genuine competition, and even more after those flukey starts at the top dry up.....and the Sky Blues get in amongst the play-off places...

OP posts:
Pan · 05/11/2013 21:46

La Liga 1 Grin

Hi KDDD.

yes some oaf took it out of Dadsnet. There'll be a FIFA enquiry at the end of the season.

Paleodad · 05/11/2013 21:59

all considered, Coventry are flying this season

mankyscotslass · 06/11/2013 07:06

Defense shocking again last night.

But otherwise impressed. Grin

Arsenal's trip to Dortmund tonight. Unlikely to be a happy hunting ground, even though we beat Bayern in Germany last year.

Pan · 06/11/2013 15:34

Yes, am out with dd far a fair bit this evening, but it'll be nice to exercise my new viewing options later on re red bibs v yellow bibs.
Sorry to hark on Fellani, but had a chat on the phone with fellow Red this morning - we came to exactly the same assessment. IF he's on the team sheet for the Arse game we'll be watching competitive tiddly-winks on Sky channel 101 as an alternative.

I'm working tonight, so recording the whole game to watch. I'll start watching as the match finishes. It's better doing that than watching Sky's highlights programme: - they announce the score before showing the match.

Mind you, the last time I did this, an Arsenal mate was around as I walked out of the meeting venue, and immediately referenced the score.

BelfastBloke · 07/11/2013 06:50

Successfully watched the whole match without knowing the score.

Dortmund 0-1 Arsenal! So proud of the lads.

Who would have thought - put Stevie Bould as Arsenal assistant manager and the defence becomes brilliant….?

BelfastBloke · 07/11/2013 06:58

Although Dortmund should have been given a definite pen in injury time.

Pan · 07/11/2013 07:43

Good stuff.

I thought, to a degree, BD made it easy for you.For eg they had v little width and payed right into your feet. And didn't think they would/could be beaten......

and there's even a tingle of excitement for Sunday - a bit of competition for a change...

OP posts:
80sbabe · 08/11/2013 21:27

A tingle of excitement Pan ?
I think there may be a bucketful of nerves as well - on both sides Grin
Interesting choice of referee in Michael Oliver though.

Pan · 08/11/2013 22:14

is the ref significant?

OP posts:
80sbabe · 08/11/2013 22:40

The refs are always significant aren't they ? Grin

Pan · 09/11/2013 08:53

Women and Footie! Have come across this from an MN-related source. It's an opportunity for anyone aged under 16yo to be a reporter at the UEFA Womens U-17's Euro champs being held in the Midlands. Stay at a hotel at St Georges Park and do some reporting on the games, equipment supplied.

There is a competition involved, close date this Fri 15th November. It's a chance for any footie-interested young person to exercise their reporting/writing skills and get to see round England's coaching 'hot house'

Here are the details

Pass it onto anyone you know who may have a young one who is a potential Eleanor Oldroyd, or that bloke with the fur-lined sheepskin.
