The rolling Football thread for Season '13-14 might as well start off in the traditional way with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread all those seasons ago. But with the new tradition of leaving the musty changing room of Dadsnet...
We've been top heavy with premiership stuff but it's really for any footie played on the planet and beyond.

Footie fans please sign in with

1.Which team you support.
2.Which team(s) you loathe.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.)

Taking of seats in the auditorium. Bovril and pies all round, whilst Citeh get mauled by the Black Cats. So far so good.....

Mertesacker not playing in our superb defence today. Vermaalen in instead.

But Flamini is back to guard our defence against Kagawa Rooney and RVP.

Walcott is supposedly available today, but let's stick with the players who clearly know what they are doing.

BelfastBloke · 10/11/2013 15:54

Citeh players kicking Sunderland players in frustration during injury time, when they should be focussing on clawing a point back.

Horsemad · 10/11/2013 17:19

Come on Man U - never thought I'd be wanting them to win!

Pan · 10/11/2013 19:27

Well that was all v satisfying. No-one has mentioned the effect of 'nerves' in the game - Arse seemed more affected by them with more stray passes.
We also have Fletch on the edge of a comeback.
Next up Cardiff away with Arse home to Southampton - BB and I can swop notes there mono y mono!
Game def. back on.Grin

Get in there !! We always beat City one nil. Could write a match report for the Pie and Bovril lads but I'm too busy with housework. I know my place.

80sbabe · 10/11/2013 22:28

What a fantastic run of results this weekend - that's shaken things up a bit hasn't it ? Grin

80sbabe · 11/11/2013 21:58

I was listening to Talk Sport on my way home tonight and they were discussing the impending name change of Hull City to Hull Tigers.
Apparently the new owner wants to make the change for a number of reasons - firstly for merchandising and commercial purposes and secondly because he "thinks City sounds common" Grin

claretandamberforever · 11/11/2013 22:16

oooh a footy thread

just marking my (penalty) spot

BelfastBloke · 12/11/2013 12:03

What team is claret and amber? Bolton? Isn't that the Harry Potter scarf?

Pan · 12/11/2013 12:31

I'm taking a wild guess at Bradford City - from whom the Mighty Sky Blues will be garnering 3pts from shortly. On Sky!

OP posts:
Pan · 12/11/2013 12:35

is there a collective noun for 'froms'?Hmm

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 12/11/2013 12:45

Sorry, I meant Bradford. Had a brain fart.

*"from who the Mighty Sky Blues will be garnering 3pts shortly."

Pan · 12/11/2013 19:56

"Who replaces they and whom replaces them. Split it into two sentences to see which is correct: "They are a team. We will be collecting from them" - ergo "whom".
Because of the complicating factor of team, however, from which is also ok."

just quoting someone else....

claretandamberforever · 12/11/2013 21:01

Yes, we're suffering a slump in form at the moment so you'll (Cov) 'll probably batter us Grin

but hey! we're gunna be on the telly box.

Horsemad · 13/11/2013 14:43

Aww, my DH has bought me hospitality tickets for Liverpool v Arsenal for my birthday!

I couldn't get any tickets under the membership scheme so this is great! Grin

Pan · 13/11/2013 16:31

Aw, now thats warm and fuzzy!

Just read someone describing O'Neil and Keane as "Bad cop and worse cop".

1.Which team you support. Wolves
2.Which team(s) you loathe. West Brom
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team. My 7 year old likes Man Utd! Both me & my dad have taken him to Wolves games though so I still think he'll come round!

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.) I just want us to get out of League One right now, it's not fun. And West Brom to be relegated! I think Chelsea will win the league.
Paleodad · 13/11/2013 21:56

another Wolves fan! C'mon me babbies! Welcome Vikki!
Taking DS (4) to his first ever wolves game on the 22nd against Brentford, very excited. it'll be my first game seeing wolves in La Liga too.
Wolves ay we!

Vikki88 · 14/11/2013 23:05

WE ARE WOLVES WE ARE WOLVES WE ARE WOOOLVES! Grin

Nice to know I'm not on my own Paleodad Smile Well done on starting DS young, I tried the same with DS1 (he's still resisting so far) & my dad did the same with me! I might try introducing DS2 next season - hopefully better football then. Wink

I've only been to 2 games this season & we didn't win either! Third time lucky I'm sure.

Pan · 16/11/2013 15:26

With the tedium of international footie hitting the pause button, we can re-focus on where the real excitement is at - La Liga 1!

Wolves should pick up points against Notts Co,. with or without Robert Plant playing for them...and poss go top...

and the game of the weekend is Sunday, Bradford v Coventry 3pm. If EVERYTHING goes according to plan, Sky Blues could be in the play off places by the time Stars on Sunday is on.

OP posts:
Paleodad · 16/11/2013 19:34

no bobby plant, but we are top of the league Grin
this has cheered me up no end after being stuck on a very deppressing thread in aibu today!

Pan · 16/11/2013 20:27

Congrats to Wolves. It's a marathon this footie league thing isn't it?

OP posts:
Horsemad · 16/11/2013 20:56

Pan, did I tell you that Richard Keogh (formerly Coventry City) is a sort of relative of mine by marriage? I don't know him though, so no idea what he's like!!?
