BelfastBloke's Rolling Footie Thread 2013-14 Season

The rolling Football thread for Season '13-14 might as well start off in the traditional way with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread all those seasons ago. But with the new tradition of leaving the musty changing room of Dadsnet...
We've been top heavy with premiership stuff but it's really for any footie played on the planet and beyond.

Footie fans please sign in with

1.Which team you support.
2.Which team(s) you loathe.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.)

Pan have read and replied - "Thank You" multiplied by a million doesn't seem to quite cover it - you are totally amazing Smile

Pan · 05/11/2013 08:46

didn't realise there was a rolling football thread, alerted via another thread (thanks Pan), i'll join if i may:

1.Which team you support: Wolves, from boyhood to (almost) manhood
2.Which team(s) Should be WBA, but I've always had an intense dislike for Villa.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
Difficult, after buying full kit, making her watch goals on youtube etc. took my DD to her first ever match - wolves v the Toon - and we got absolutely slaughtered. Cue DD deciding that Newcastle is her team. Doesn't help that we live in Toon heartlands. DS OTO, with minimal input, has decided to follow his dad. And has stolen his sisters shirt. To say i'm pleased is understatement of the year.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.): La Liga 1 is where it's at (of course). Wolves, all the way back to the championship (once we've dispensed with pesky Orient's flukey start to the season)

Welcome Paleodad.

I've seen a few games at the Hawthornes. They don't speak very well of your lot, do they?

Pan · 05/11/2013 20:30

Coming up to half time and getting really cheesed off with Fellani. His brain just doesn't work quickly enough, out of position he is found marking space, never plays the optimal ball, and spends most of his time having the game played past him. Picked up a stupid booking.

And he's got ridiculous hair.

" I want to be the new Roy Keane." See what you are doing now, then do the opposite, mate.

Pan · 05/11/2013 20:36

"out of position.." I meant 'out of possession', obv?Hmm

no, not too well belfastbloke, nor we of 'sandwell town'.

Pan · 05/11/2013 20:59

Would you like a big, useless weird-haired Belgian by any chance? He'd suit League 1.

OP posts:
Paleodad · 05/11/2013 21:02

actually, strike that, i'm not interested anymore seeing as we've just conceded a penalty

Paleodad · 05/11/2013 21:03

we could swap him for jamie o'hara......

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:05

No thanks Paleo - it'd mean having his wife along as well. Is it still that model who was on Big Bro?

Best game on tonight is Real Madrid at Juventus. 2-2 right now. Both Bale and Ronaldo have scored.

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:10

so tempted to switch over, BB. Rooney off and Young on. At least vP is on.

OP posts:
Paleodad · 05/11/2013 21:11

i believe so Pan

BelfastBloke · 05/11/2013 21:13

Do you have Sky, Pan?

It's a cracking game. Defences are rubbish.

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:14

We'll have her as a step up from Fellani.Smile

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:19

Yep! Decided it was going to be too good a season to miss so much and rely on highlights and newspaper reports so got it last week. Good, innit.
I said to my mate that he could watch the cricket too. Not knowing it's in Aussie and so starts at midnight....

BelfastBloke · 05/11/2013 21:21

Did you buy the Man U channel? How much was it?

Remember that the Liverpool channel is free - you can watch all of it.

Pan · 05/11/2013 21:27

No to the Man U channel - too "hype-y" and I wouldn't have the time.
L'pool is free, but not worth the money.
The Sky channels were £22 extra.

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 05/11/2013 21:29

Yeah, I have Arsenal TV with my season ticket, but it's like Pravda.

BelfastBloke · 05/11/2013 21:31

I think I might give up on this game and watch Monty Python reunion on Sky Arts. It's themed around 'The Meaning of Life', but they're talking about how they could write a new film.
