Are we having a spin on Le Tour this year? They are half way across Corsica already, and Cav and Froome are settled in. Cav's looking for a stage win.

Struggling to get through Wiggo's book. It's a catalogue of 'then we did this, then we did that, then we did this again..'

DramaAlpaca · 27/07/2013 23:44

Pan I'm reading it too, and I know exactly what you mean... Not the most exciting read.

Pan · 31/07/2013 10:39

Finished Wiggo book. If anyone is tempted to read it, just don't.Smile

Tour of Poland is well underway. Bradders is well down but Sergio Henao of Sky is 2nd place.

NicholasTeakozy · 31/07/2013 12:10

Inspired by this thread I've gone and bought The Secret Race by Tyler Hamilton and Daniel Coyle. I'll let you know if it's any cop when I've read it.

Pan · 31/07/2013 12:29

NT - Hamilton had the good sense to employ a writer to help him write, which was something he couldn't do. Wiggo missed that basic thing.

LostInWales · 03/08/2013 22:41

Quick wave from the Alpes, we are on our annual meander through Europe and went through Gap last week. Was very pleased to drive over a few Froome road paintings but better still was being near Monaco and seeing some Astana riders out for a training ride as well as a couple of suspiciously skinny riders in team Sky kit Smile

Pan · 03/08/2013 22:45

Lost!

Gap was my first stage finish!! And those skinny Skyers get everywhere. E Manchester, Monaco - it's all the same. Have a groovy time. x

DramaAlpaca · 03/08/2013 22:52

Lost enjoy your hols Smile!

Wiggo impressive in Tour of Poland time trial today.

Pan · 03/08/2013 22:55

DA - I have it recorded, but TT is really boring for me, so I'll ffwd to Wiggo.

Pan · 03/08/2013 22:57

Should that really be Lost in France?

I'll get me coat. Grin

DramaAlpaca · 03/08/2013 22:58

TT not the most exciting I agree. Eurosport only showed the riders higher in the GC, plus a bit of Wiggo's run later.

Sorry about the spoiler btw, I was hoping I was safe this time of night!

Looking forward to watching RideLondon tomorrow.

Pan · 03/08/2013 23:02

oh it's fine. Wiggo is/was about 23mins off the pace so I'd think he saw the tour as a training session, for Spain? Or is that too much to ask for.
I've seen bits of Poland tour and the commentary/tv shots is nothing like Le Tour is it?

DramaAlpaca · 03/08/2013 23:09

No, coverage was pretty poor - no time gaps. I prefer Eurosport commentator Carlton Kirby & his sidekick to Phil & Paul on ITV, though. Scenery wasn't as nice, either!

I don't think Wiggo is doing the Vuelta, think his focus is on the World Time Trial at the end of September.

Pan · 04/08/2013 12:47

That women's Grand Prix was a battle, wasn't it?

And the chaps are off to Surrey. Fab to see 1000s of bikists wandering around the streets of London with smiles.

ariadneoliver · 05/08/2013 12:59

Very exciting end to the Surrey London Classic. Am cursing Eurosport now because I'm going to be forced to watch the Arctic Tour and nothing will get done in the house. Grin

prettybird · 08/08/2013 23:59

Spending the week at the SCH Velodrome watching the stars of the future at the World Junior Track Championships. I'm sure some of the boys will be in the Tour de France in years to come.

Last night ds was in the Opening Ceremony: 29 kids rode round the track representing each of the countries participating. Ds represented Germany and got to keep the German top.

We were sitting beside Jerome Barton's family last night. His mum was so proud of her boy but the team pursuit team lost out on bronze and then today he was really unlucky and crashed out on the last corner of the qualifying round of the scratch competition when he should have qualified comfortably. Wasn't even his fault Sad

Better result this evening for GB when Danielle Kahn became 500m TT Junior World Champion and the Women's Pursuit Team set a new world record on their way to winning gold. Smile

ivykaty44 · 09/08/2013 23:39

Emily Nelson from the team pursuit and Danny Kahn are both from the same club.

They both did well Grin

prettybird · 10/08/2013 22:10

Danielle Kahn is now World Junior Sprint Champion. Smile

BTW - the World Junior Track Champs are being streamed live. On the MN app, so difficult for me to link to it, but there is still another day of good racing to watch tomorrow. Smile

ivykaty44 · 11/08/2013 10:38

I have been looking at the website with the live streaming, Dani is in the kerin today so will she make it three golds...?

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/23567592

if you look u can see another girl from the same club in red white and blue - she was on restricted gears as a first year junior and came in twelfth against woman that were not on restricted gears!

LostInWales · 20/08/2013 20:22

Gosh, I had to look around and find 'Sports' to find you lot. Very unnerving.

Sounds like you had a great time Prettybird, we've had a couple of nice bike rides but that's about it for us and cycling this summer.

Right, we are back from camping our way round what feels like the entire world (and Wales) whilst spotting skinny bike boys, do we have a thread for the Vuelta or will anyone be chatting on here?

Pan · 21/08/2013 10:49

Vuelta AND the Tour of Britain need threads!! Or we could combine the two and make it easier?

LostInWales · 21/08/2013 20:55

You going to start one then or should I (the answer BTW, is you will because you are Pan and it is expected of you Wink)

Gigondas · 21/08/2013 20:59

Lets do a new thread please as I would love it.

Pan · 21/08/2013 21:06

Oh you know just what to say Lost.Grin

I'll default to my natural leadership skills and put something up in next couple of days and do a linky here.

btw dd was in the Llyn Penininsular (Aberdaron) last week and didn't know what to get me as a pressie. So she got me a copy of Cycling Plus inc a guide to the Tour of Britain. Sweeeeeet.

Pan · 21/08/2013 21:09

hi Gigondas - yes we should do it.
The Sky team for Vuelta is announced and it looks pretty young and aggressive.
