Are we having a spin on Le Tour this year? They are half way across Corsica already, and Cav and Froome are settled in. Cav's looking for a stage win.

I'm consoling myself with how much my feet ached last time in Paris not working. Lots of Welsh flags out for Geraint, How good (hard) is that?

yy about the adverts, want the beardy Trivago man to drown in that pool, I'll never use them for being too irritating. Grin

Getting tense now!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/07/2013 20:34

NOOOOOO!!!. Cav didn't win?!

LostInWales · 21/07/2013 20:35

Kittel is too strong Sad and Cav's wheel was slipping all over the shop.

ariadneoliver · 21/07/2013 20:35

No Kittel got it. :(

LostInWales · 21/07/2013 20:35

Plus his lead out team just weren't there. Bollocks.

canutesauntie · 21/07/2013 20:37

Robbed!

prettybird · 21/07/2013 20:38

Nooooooooo!!!!!!

LostInWales · 21/07/2013 20:38

I could go over and console him!

Panonabike · 21/07/2013 20:42

He finished fastest. If his lead out placed him properly it would have been no contest.

OP posts:
mayaswell · 21/07/2013 20:49

S'ok. Still adore him.

Panonabike · 21/07/2013 20:52

He needs a thug assertive rider like he will get in Renshawe next year.

LostInWales · 21/07/2013 20:53

We will always adore our Cav. He just didn't have the team this year. Wonder what Kittel is doing different? goes to drop something dodgey in his water bottle

gindrinker · 21/07/2013 20:55

I'd love to be a tour rider. Is it men only?
Assuming 49 weeks of training would be enough??

Froome is looking happy now :)

Poor Cav, I'll console you!

canutesauntie · 21/07/2013 21:12

Kittel has no sense of history!

Am suddenly anxious that they'll wheel out Lesley Garrett again in a minute - noooo

Panonabike · 21/07/2013 21:13

That mountain graphic was excellent. Jean-Michelle Jarre has threatened to be part of all of this sound and light thing.

OP posts:
LostInWales · 21/07/2013 21:17

They won't do the Garrett again every surely. I think we all learnt an important lesson last year Grin

I quite like the graphics and lights, I am worried that Froome will never beable to replicate Wiggos 'Ladies and Gentlemen we are now going to draw the raffle Wink

Here goes the sound and light thing then.

gindrinker · 21/07/2013 21:38

I'm quite liking the projections.
I'm about 30mins behind ... Had to pop out
Oooh spangly jersey.

Panonabike · 21/07/2013 21:41

Well that was all emotional! Froome did well there I thought?

Thanks for the ride in the MN Peloton this year!
See you l'annee prochaine! Grin

OP posts:
ariadneoliver · 21/07/2013 21:54

So will we all meet again on 23rd August?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/07/2013 22:05

I think a MN Vuelta quiche would be a fine idea, Ariadne - I'll see you there!

The son et lumiere was amazing.

Gindrinker - at the moment the Tour is men only. There is a women's Tour, called the Grande Boucle Feminin, I think, and there is a petition on Change.org calling for a women's Tour to run alongside the men's Tour - same route, same time, taking advantage of all the organisation that is there for the Tour.

HowGoodIsThat · 21/07/2013 22:07

As a result of spectacular bad planning I have just got home and had to catch up on three days all at once.

Quintana is a seriously impressive rider - and so tiny. He's a Rider-in-my-Pocket. I look forward to seeing him struggle up our huge Yorkshire cols next year.

We are away during the Vuelta but we're stalking Jensie chasing post-Tour crits in the Netherlands. I'll post any good pics! Grin

Aren't you all coming up to my gaff for next year?

prettybird · 21/07/2013 22:09

It's a date Smile

Inbetweentimes, the Chris Froome of the 2020s (aka ds Wink) has a challenge on Tuesday against Sir Chris Hoy to celebrate one year until the Commonwealth Games. Grin

DramaAlpaca · 21/07/2013 22:12

Poor Cav! Was so hoping for a fairytale finish. He needs a better lead out team.

Well done Froome & Team Sky! Brilliant son et luminere & I had a tear in my eye at Froome's speech.

Panonabike could we maybe get this lovely thread moved somewhere other than Chat so it doesn't disappear & we can find each other again next year? Thanks for starting the thread, it's been great fun.

ariadneoliver I'll join you for the Vuelta!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/07/2013 22:12

I would love to see one of the Yorkshire stages next year - maybe we could have a MN-Tour meet up. We could stand at the side of the road waving slices of naice ham and drinking our champagne from fruit shoot bottles!

DramaAlpaca · 21/07/2013 22:19

I've suggested to my DH that we go to Yorkshire next year. We are living in Ireland, but could easily combine the Tour with a visit to my family in the Lake District.

DH, even though he is also a Tour nut, says he won't be able get away then because of work. So I'm a bit annoyed with him at the moment. It's a whole bloody year away & I'm sure they could do without him for a few days. I think he's just trying to get out of seeing the in-laws!
