I'm trying to get rid of a 10 year old verucca. I can't tell if it's going well or not. Wtf is going on! It hurts! I have a hole in my foot!!

It’s ok, I’ve got a thick skin. Takes more than that to offend me.

Viruses are a medical nightmare. If we could unlock how to destroy them it would be amazing.

I've asked a couple of doctors and all they've said is because they usually go away by themselves the NHS won't do anything about it... Maybe I will try again though..

@MsChatterbox not sure which part of UK you are in but in Surrey GP’s (some) are happy to refer you to an NHS podiatrist. I ended up finding a self referral form online, had my other half take loads of close up pics, sent them with my signed self referral and was fast tracked immediately. Please don’t try to do it yourself. You could end up with it slowly going septic.

It's healed really nicely! I still have a bit of tough skin there but I've been lazy with the filing!!

I was going to tamely recommend a chiropodist because one dealt with my persistent verucca many years ago. But I am so pleased I stayed for the denouement. I think that monster verucca needs to be stuffed , mounted and hung over a fireplace.

So I just leave it alone?

The virus causes the blood caplilaries to grow into the skin to feed the verrucca. Even leaving the tiny specks means that there is the tiniest bit left which will eventually grow back.
You need to treat (maybe not so agressively) until there is clear skin with no black spots at all.
