KLAXON pea sized lump in earlobe, with pics of course.

I have a lump in my earlobe and I'm not sure what to do. I have had these before, but always in a piercing hole, so could be easily squeezed out of the hole. This is between two holes and will not squeeze no matter how hard i try.

My earlobe is throbbing and painful and I just want it gone now. Getting to the point of jabbing it with a needle as it's affecting my sleep. It has been there for three days now.

As a committed sporner i am frustrated with this as there has been no glorious explosion, no beautiful bursting loveliness, just pain. Help?

I'll get dp to take a better pic when he gets back from the shop and I'll also video any popping attempts.

Flicks kettle on, plumps up cushion on sofa, gets comfy.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2016 10:01

Marking place.

Love a good sporn thread, especially one with with an OP willing to go the full mile Grin

Wolpertinger · 17/04/2016 10:06

WhoTheFuck your lump on your back is almost certainly a sebaceous cyst - again the cheezy contents are keratin that has sat there for ages.

To get rid the cyst needs to be removed including the sac around the cyst otherwise it simply fills up with crud again.

SlatternIsTrying · 17/04/2016 10:11

The best kind of thread for a lazy Sunday morning.

Thank you OP and your appreciation of the joys of a sporn thread.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2016 10:12

equiem I love Dr Pimplepopper. If ever there was a job that's my true calling, it's squeezing other people's spots for a living. Although, to be honest I'd do it for free.

I don't think I'd be able to stop myself gleefully shouting 'Ew, gross!' every so often though.

MagpieCursedTea · 17/04/2016 10:17

Blatant place mark!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 17/04/2016 10:33

Wolpertinger. Yes I think it is a cyst. Ive made Dh watch cyst removal videos and given him a potato knife and told him to get on with it but he's not brave enough. Sadly I can't reach it myself. A nurse friend of mine had a go with scapel and again couldn't hack it. I think GP would just say it was cosmetic and not do it.

Wolpertinger · 17/04/2016 10:56

Worth asking - my GP does minor ops and did one for me that was cosmetic. Otherwise there are private cyst removal places for £2-300.

RedOnHerHedd · 17/04/2016 11:17

Budge up, make room for me, I have popcorn for everyone Grin

Youarentkiddingme · 17/04/2016 11:26

Don't panic - you'll get pus!

It'll probably be like cottage cheese and it will stink like shit.

I managed to drain mine this morning and it was great but smelt foul!

MrsHathaway · 17/04/2016 11:39

Excellent.

Place marking.

Stratter5 · 17/04/2016 11:44

WhoThe pop over, I'll do it. I did a glorious one on BigDog's back the other week - it shot gunk right up the wall.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2016 13:17

Pictures, preferably a video, or it didn't happen 😜

MeadowHay · 17/04/2016 13:24

Without trying to be a spoilsport, I think I have the same kind of cyst as you, in the same place. I did some reading and all the advice said very strongly not to try and pop it yourself and to see a doctor. I have had mine as a tiny cyst for at least 4 or 5 months now, but painless and small so left it and wasn't bothered. A few weeks ago it swelled to the same size as yours, was red and sore and I couldn't sleep on that side anymore because it was too painful. After about a week it started reducing in size and the inflammation went. Now it is just a tiny little thing that you can't notice and doesn't hurt, so I'm not even going to bother visiting the GP anymore.

TL;DR:
You really shouldn't have tried popping it, but you did, but please don't try again.
It will more than likely sort itself out in a week or so.
If it doesn't or it's so painful that you can't bear waiting awhile, talk to your GP about it.

FuckyNell · 17/04/2016 13:29

Of course you should ignore listen to meadow

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/04/2016 13:29

Do NOT under ANY circumstances listen to Meadow's advice!!! Wink

BeccaMumsnet · 17/04/2016 13:56

Hi all - we're going to move this over to Sporner Corner.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2016 20:49

I hate it when other people do this, but is there any update OP?!!!

And I never even knew there was a Sporner Corner!Confused

flanjabelle · 17/04/2016 21:11

Sorry, ended up being out all day. Nothing to report tonight. Lump feels hard and sore and there is no head or anything. Going to carry on with hot compresses in the morning. It's really hurting still, I'm laying in bed now and I can't lay on that side. I have had enough of it!

Thanks for moving the thread becca.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 17/04/2016 21:14

Oh, you poor thing OP Flowers

The relief will be amazing when it pops though still hopeful

cbigs · 17/04/2016 21:44

I used to get mega limps behinds ears that would fill up be very painful and eventually burst the doctor burst one by mistake shot puss all over her office and her then she apologised to me!! I was mortified! Smelt awful and was really self conscious about it. Had a small op to have the glands? Removed behind my ears now I have one lump that looks like yours op but doesn't hurt just feels solid you can't even see it but I can feel it. Assuming it's a cyst thy will just sit there now bit of love it out... not even a sporner but this one caught my eye Shock

YabuDabbaDoo · 17/04/2016 21:55

Ooh I had one like this recently, couldn't sleep on that side for days, had hot Epsom baths, compresses, mag sulphate... I went to bed one night thinking "tomorrow is definitely going to be hit the mirror day"

Woke up in the morning with less pain and my hair all stuck to my ear... Bloody thing had popped in the night into my hair... Not even a stain on the pillow to show for it. So crestfallen.
