This thread is for the Mumsnetters who attended one of the exclusive MN screenings of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 in London or Manchester with their DCs on Sunday 13th October. We hope you all had a great time and enjoyed the film!

First of all, wanted to say a big thanks for choosing us for the screening, I took dd1 age 8, dd2 age 6, and ds age 4, to the London screening, and we all had a brilliant morning!

Our one sentence review of the film would be Freakishly Funny Food!

• Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

I would give it 5 out of 5, it was a film that was as entertaining for the adults as it was for the kids, all 3 kids gave it 5 out of 5 as well.

• What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

My fave character was Monkey/Ape woman, dd1 loved Berry, dd2 loved Steve, and ds loved the blobs of butter the best.

• What did your DCs love best about the day?

I think they enjoyed the whole specialness of seeing the film before all of their friends/cousins, it was the first time I have ever managed to get them into Westfield without any moaning! An extra surprise was it was a 3d screening, we dont normally watch films in 3d as I was sure ds wouldnt keep his glasses on but he did, in fact I never heard a word or saw any of them move for the entire film!

• What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They all loved the Subway bags, dd2 and ds wolfed down everything, salad and all, dd1 is a bit fussier and picked out all the salad but my dustbin boy was happy to eat it all, saving me the trouble of disposing of it! The bags were also lovely and we have saved them for storing various bits and bobs in, I would def buy them again.

• What was your overall experience of the screening?

Overall the morning was just lovely, all really well organised, the animal balloons were a big hit with my kids, the only (non) complaint was that 2 of my kids chose a Steve the monkey balloon, and the tails looked like big willies poking out of my bag, I got some odd looks walking around Westfield after the film! For me, an extra nice touch was the photo booth thing and the kids all getting a print, they are so pleased with them and it turned out to be a great photo of all 3.
I also have to mention just how well behaved all the kids were, usually in a cinema full of kids you will get a few that talk all the way through or try and escape (usually mine!) but apart from laughing in all the right places they all seemed very quiet, also wanted to say thanks to the lovely mumsnetter who offered to watch my dc while I went to the toilet (I am 36 weeks preg and struggling a bit and it was really lovely of her to offer )

Yes I would, and I already have! It is a brilliant film for kids and adults alike and not annoying like some kids films are.....like the smurfs!

Me- When Flint tries all his inventions on his poor old dad/The shrimpanzee and flamangos etc, v clever! DS1- Barry Berry translating/Barry Berry himself DD- When he said cut the cheese / Barry Berry DS2 - all of it/ Steve

Must just tell you- I missed the brown crayon thing and had to ask ds1 the joke tonight, he had got it and thought it was HILARIOUS that I hadn't I'm sticking to my story of that being the moment I was scrabbling on the floor for ds2's 3D glasses.

• What did your DCs love best about the day?

They loved the whole cinema experience, it is a real treat for them. They loved the fact they got to see the film before everyone else! And they loved all the treats

• What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They adored the bags but only ds1 ate the sub, and he would like me to tell you he loved it except for the tomato. Don't think any of them ate the fruit roll thingy.

• What was your overall experience of the screening?

It was very well run by MN, Janine MN was very welcoming and helpful (and young- spit). The kids did well, as we did a lot of queuing- a teeny criticism would be that there was no rhyme or reason to the balloon modellers, we queued for them and as it got to our turn the next person who was free went past us and started at the back of the queue! We consequently had no time for the photo booth. None of us liked the popcorn, sorry! I was impressed with the 3D screening, v effective. Overall we had a really lovely day, thank you so much!

Absolutely- fun for all ages, food and animals, what's not to like?!

I thought it was very entertaining, one of those movies that is geared for children and adults.

I would give it 4 out of 5 and as it kept my kids entertained the entire time, a 5/5

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

The DCs loved the big Hamburger with legs made out of fries, probabaly because they love burgers. I liked Barry-he was cute.

What did your DCs love best about the day?
Everything!I have to say that it was all brilliantly executed. The staff were very patient and kind, there was lots to do with the kids who engaged in all of the activity and we still have the monkey balloons that were made. The drinks and food were a nice surprise as well and the photographs are hilarious.

My boys loved the bag and Bear which is his favorite snack. It was a lovely touch.

What was your overall experience of the screening?
Me: It was a really enjoyable day out and I was really happy to have been selected

YES - great family film that adults can enjoy as well - it's funny, colourful and amusing!

Funny, clever, beautiful animation, and it made me hungry!

(DS (6) says 'There's a lot of food animals in it. And its not scary. )

I would give it 4. DS would give it 5.

DS favorite part: Where Berry 'jammed'. Mine: When the pickles first appear looking for sardines.

DS favorite character: Berry, because - 'He's a strawberry and I like strawberries'.

DS loved best that we got to watch the film.

DS loved the foodpack (apart from too much salad ). It all got eaten. Thanks Subway.

Overall experience- it was an exciting day!

We would recommend- I thought it was visually stunning and funny enough to appeal to adults. DS actually gasped when the food animals world was revealed.

Getting free popcorn and realising it was a 3d film as we don't normally watch 3d films

They liked the sandwich but thought it was too small!

What was your overall experience of the screening?
We enjoyed it but the balloon people at the Trafford Centre weren't very organised. We watched one man make balloons for the family in front of us in the queue and my son was planning what he wanted but then when he had made balloons for the children in front he wandered off to another family and we didn't get one. We queued again for a good while but then ran out of time so my children didn't get a balloon and were disappointed.

Yes, it was a great family film with lots of jokes that appealed to my children.

She loved so many different parts of the film thqat she can't choose. She loved the marshallows because of their faces.

Being pampered and looked after so well.

The ham roll was lovely and fresh and she is using the lunchbag for school to put her packed lunch in.

A lovely day out - we spent the day at Westfield.

I would definitely recommend the film especially for half term.

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 where the food comes alive!!

My eldest daughter loved it, she gave it 5/5 whilst I gave it around 3.5/5 It was a good movie which kept us entertained. My youngest got quite scared by the giant food though :)

They both loved Berry, finding her so cute and each wanting their own Berry...lucky they had both got a balloon berry before going in as well as a berry picture on their faces.

They loved the chance to get a character balloon which my eldest has taken to school each day since the movie.

We had their Subway kids pack for lunch - they both liked the sandwiches however my eldest did pick off all the healthy stuff! They enjoyed the activity sheet and the balloon went down well too.

I would recommend the movie and have already done so, my daughters already want to go back and see it again.

We all had a great day and just wanted to say thankyou for giving us the opportunity it was a great experience and really well planned.

Great family film that we all enjoyed.

We'd all give it 5 stars. Two children aged 5 and 13 who both adored it.

Ours was the nods to other films (Jurassic Park etc). The 5 yo loved the food that came alive. The 13 yo just liked 'all of it'.

Didn't say what they liked best but did say they'd both had a fantastic time (a real honour these days as they're so fickle and hard to please).

Both enjoyed them (ham & cheese). They ate them when the film had finished. Nice little touches with the healthy strawberry roll too.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Great entertainment before we went in. Healthy snacks provided. Free tea & coffee. Perfect family event.

Absolutely! It's funny, entertaining and has has both children and adults laughing out loud.

A funny, foodie movie for kids that adults will enjoy too.

DD (7yo) - 5 stars Me - 5 stars

• What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DD - favourite character was Berry. Favourite part was when Barry pooed jam. Me - favourite character was Barb. Favourite parts were Steve being scared of the candle and Live Corp.

• What did your DCs love best about the day?

DD loved the film and the activities. She's been telling anyone who'll listen that she's been to a film premiere and seen the movie before anyone else.

• What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

Loved the bag and stickers. DD liked the fruit yoyo and drink but wasn't keen on the sandwich (although she's a fussy madam with sandwiches so I wasn't expecting anything else).

• What was your overall experience of the screening?

We had a fabulous time and it was great to have some time with DD1 (18mo DD2 stayed at home with DH). The queues for the face painting and balloon animals were long but DD didn't mind and she was very happy with the end result (until I managed to step on her balloon flower in the dark cinema). We thought we might miss out on a photo as the queue was massive, but we managed to get one just before we want in. Was nice to catch up with the lovely ohforfoxsake and her kids too.

• If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, in fact I've recommended it to several friends with kids already. It was visually stimulating and there was enough smart jokes for adults without it all going over the kids' heads.

Funny, engaging and a great storyline, beautifully animated and lovely to look at.

My son and nephew's favourite character was Barry and they loved the time on the island. My favourite characters were the pickles, I loved their fishing trip with Tim.

• What did your DCs love best about the day?

Having their arms painted with Barry (DS,3) and a pickle (DNephew, 3) then eating popcorn and warching the film

• What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They both loved their packs. DNephew ate all of his sub but I think my DS was put off by the salad in his. The Fruit yoyos were a big hit and both boys really enjoyed them. I'd never considered Subway for children before but I will do so in future.

• What was your overall experience of the screening?

Fantastic, all of the activities were accessible and we didn't have to wait too long for any of them. It was lovely for them to get the balloons, the painted characters and then their photo taken. I'm just a bit worried about taking them to the cinema when it isn't a preview now. They will be expecting all of this excitement every time.

• If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

I absolutely would, it was a really fun way to spend the morning and the film was great. I think it has enough to keep children of all ages, and adults to entertain them all.

Two DC loved Barry, so cute with his big eyes and producing his jam which they found very funny. My other DC loved the marshmallows which she wanted to pick up and cuddle.
My favourite was Sam Sparks for being a female scientist

What did your DCs love best about the day?
Watching the film and seeing a film in 3D for the first time. I think that they all really liked that it was a preview that none of their friends had seen yet so felt very special being a part of this event.

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
A mixed reaction, they all loved the pack with the cute bag, poster and crayons. Two of them really enjoyed the roll with ham and salad but the youngest would not touch it due to the salad (fussy). All three enjoyed the drink and the yo-yo. They liked taking the bag home with all of their things in them.

What was your overall experience of the screening?
We all had a fabulous day and really appreciated the balloons, face painting, photo booth and popcorn. It was well organised and well thought out as an event. However the star of the day for us remained the actual film itself.
I really enjoyed seeing other mumsnetters and the cup of much needed coffee and need to say a massive thank you to the lovely two lovely mumsnetters in the face painting queue who brought me a cup of coffee whilst I waited with my DC. THANKYOU! So very kind to help another mum who you have never met before.

It really is a great film that appeals to all ages. The foodamils are a joy and I also liked that the film was not too long so the DC didn't get all fidgety.

What was your overall experience of the screening?

we had a great time, the children really enjoyed themselves and we felt like VIP's - only let down was the fact they werent ready with the much needed coffee!

yes - a great family film which was fun to watch

Wow! We had an excellent time, it was a brilliant event and the boys (3 and 5) absolutely loved it.
I thought the plotline was a bit convoluted with too many McGuffins, but somehow it worked and the children just accepted it all and thought it was brilliant.
All the things going on in the background during scenes were really funny and the quality was (as we'd expect) excellent. The voiceover actors are incredibly convincing and the characters were really likeable.
The fun beforehand was first rate, it really was, we a
all felt very special. Coffee for the grown ups and the Subway brunch were lovely touches. The balloon-modellers and face painters were a great laugh and the green screen photo is superb.

Thank you ever such a lot for organising and giving us the opportunity to attend what was something we'll all remember forever.

DD1 laughed at the bit (also in the trailer) where Flint is scared of the strawberry. I think Steve the monkey is her favourite character.

• What did your DCs love best about the day?

The film itself. We didn't arrive in time to get a balloon animal, which she would also have loved.

The sandwich was tasty. It seemed like a healthy, balanced meal for a child. DD1 and DD2 both love the bag it came in!

• What was your overall experience of the screening?

Very well oraganised, great entertainment beforehand, good snacks. We had a great time. Thankyou Mumsnet!

• If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

I would recommend it, I found it very entertaining with good characters, lots of humour and a positive message, and DD1 loved it too.

My daughter was in a state of great excitement for days before the screening. Once she got to the cinema and realised there were so many extra treats on offer I think her cup completely overflowed!
The film lived up to the expectations as well - easily as funny as the first one - 5 stars! Even better the film is intelligent enough to appeal to adults too (a big bonus). I have already recommended this to all friends with kids and my daughter is clamouring to watch it a second time. Barry the Strawberry was her favourite character and she was lucky enough to get it painted on her arm (another highlight). At the end of the day my daughter cried because she did not want to leave this experience behind. The only slight disappointment was the Subway Kids Pack which remained uneaten. Overall a fantastic outing that was thoroughly enoyable!

I liked the names of the vegetables and the 'subs' and the bit where they squeezed berry and he made jam! My DDs loved berry and the film as a whole

The whole experience, DD1 thought there should always be a drink and popcorn waiting for you!

DD1 really liked it and enjoyed it, DD2 didn't like the sandwich

We really enjoyed it and were really pleased to be picked and had a great morning out.

Yes, i think so, it was a good film and had something for everyone.

Fun, heartwarming, silly and entertaining

DC said 4 and I would agree

DCs loved berry and liked all the things she did especially the strawberry jam poo. They also like the tacodile. I don't think they had a favourite part just enjoyed it all I like tim and the pickles fishing

They loved it all. We arrived quite early and they had their photo taken with the green screen. My son was wearing a green top and when the woman said he would appear headless he thought that was funny. We found a blue top to wear. Having the pictures to take home was brilliant. They loved the balloon lady and the tatoos

It was great - nicely organized and a great treat. Everyone was friendly and there was a great vibe.

Yes would recommend it - loved the first film and thought the second one was even better
